CAVALERA re-recordings of Sepultura's first EP, Bestial Devastation, and first full-length album, Morbid Visions, are out on July 14, 2023 via Nuclear Blast Records.
Max Cavalera comments, “As we get harder year after year, sometimes you’ve got to go back to where it all started! We re-recorded Bestial Devastation and Morbid Visions with the amazing sound of NOW, but with its raw and timeless spirit. The artwork reflects the times we’re living in right now…. Apocalyptic as hell! We also have two new tracks with riffs from those days, remembered by heart.”
Iggor Cavalera states, “I always felt like the recordings of our earlier work didn’t do justice to the way we performed the songs. So, this is a very special moment in our lives that we are very proud to show you real fans our true representation of the amazing records Bestial Devastation & Morbid Visions with an insane visual identity…enjoy and see you all in the pit”
Morbid Visions and Bestial Devastation were re-recorded at The Platinum Underground. The albums were produced by Max Cavalera and Iggor Cavalera while John Aquilino handled the engineering. Arthur Rizk was responsible for the mixing and mastering of both albums. CAVALERA enlisted Eliran Kantor to create the artwork for both albums.

Hello "TROOPS OF DOOM" fan that's how I feel too, today I'm 48 years old and my first touch was "ARISE" when I was about 17 or 18 today I have family and celebrate the "NEW" / old albums re-recorded by the Cavalera brothers very much.
52 and can see my band covering this song when I was 17…still raw and driving thrash.
Same here almost 50..seen thm in 94’..an nw bk at it feels the same🤘🏽.
Now I am 50, same feeling, similar experience. It takes me back to a younger years when covering this song. Legendado!

I loved the songs on Morbid Visions and Bestial Devastation, but I always wished I'd get to hear versions of those songs produced and performed well. I wasn't expecting to ever get to have this happen. 🔥

There is already well produced version of Troops Of Doom from Schizophrenia era. It's on "Chaos In The Jungle " compilation.
Sepultura concert Dec. 1990 - Villa Real Convention Center - McAllen Texas. While opening bands Sadus, Devastation, and Obituary were playing, drummer Igor was walking around taking pictures with fans, signing autographs and hanging out at the merchandise stand. Later, before their set, Max came to the side of the stage to take pictures with the fans. Earlier, when we were waiting in line to enter, we could see through the door windows that the bands and their road crew were playing soccer before the beginning of the show. Great show.

I often wonder what would have happened if Sepultura had gone down the path opened by the Schizophrenia album instead of what happened after Scott Burns got involved. This recording is like a hint of the answer. We could have had a perfect blending of death, black, and doom metal.

Wow! This is actually the third time this has been recorded. The second recording was in 1990 and featured on the 1997 reissue of Schizophrenia.

@@MontySilverUG Yeah, Jairo started that band to help resurrect the sound that was captured on Bestial Devastation and Morbid Visions. It's almost like having 3 versions of Sepultura now...Sepultura (current lineup with Derrick Green), Troops of Doom (Jairo), and Cavalera. It reminds me of the whole Morbid Angel/I Am Morbid or Terrorizer/Terrorizer LA situation.

I got into sepultura circa Chaos AD and, although I did try, I couldn’t get myself to listen through the earlier albums due to the recording quality. Rediscovering this catalogue now is like the best birthday present I could wish for my turning 40.

In my opinion Morbid Visions is one of the best example on how you should combine black metal and thrash metal. The re-recording of this album really shows that this album were thoroughly written and the Cavalera brothers treats us with not jus an ordinary re-recording. Good job Max, you've made the right decision, twice.
The doom metal they threw in both as an intro to this song and in parts of the rest of the songs rerecorded on this occasion helps, too. Great metal takes elements of everything it can make fit, and this is a classic example.

I love these re-recorded versions. I wasn't much into the original morbid visions and bestial devastation but this has given them a new lease of life.
Just one word : BRAVO ! I was listening to this album/song when I was 15. It is such a good idea to have it recorded again ! Moreover, the sound perfectly pays tribute to your production of the 80s. The cartoon makes me think to J. Petrucci's "Temple of Circadia". Félicitations et salutations de France !

just saw Cavalera in Dallas Friday night. Awesome show! Do yourself a favor, if your a metal head, and DO NOT MISS THIS SHOW !!!!I've seen Sepultura many times, 1st time being 1991 I think, and this may have been my favorite so far. Max fukn killed it !!! In the best way possible!

Usually re-releases doesn't sound great but is brutal perfection! Love this version too. The music video is scary and chilling, sounds a good time to release this while the world is in a brink of a nuclear war.
If only they re-recorded this in the pace/style of Schizoprenia version. To me, this is disappointing. It's total crap in my opinion.

I liked it when they sounded more like early death/black metal more than their thrash and groove metal stuff. That sound really works when it has a level of wild nastiness to it. Beneath the Remains is still great, though.

I remember listening to the original albums 'Bestial Devastation' and 'Morbid Visions' on Christmas day when I was a teenager. They were a Christmas present. I wasn't too keen on how they sounded in terms of production but this sounds really good. I'm going to have to listen to the re-recordings of them now just to see how they sound now.

From a production standpoint, these new versions are some of best recordings in metal. I prefer the arrangements of the originals though...this one's missing the cool interludes, and it seems a little anticlimactic. But that production, man! 🔥
