    I just wanted to quickly thank you for the beautiful disclaimer at the beginning of the video, I've been collecting sense 2016, I was maybe 13 to 14 when I started, I follow almost exclusively figure collectors on instagram and seeing people contantly talking about the price of their collections has discouraged me greatly and made me feel inferior in a lot of ways, I'm an adult now but I still don't make enough money to be able to afford dropping what many collectors do in a month, I can maybe pre-order 2 scales if I am lucky that month.... the beginning of this video really served as a reminder to me that despite my slowly growing collection and my inability to drop as much as I wish I could drop that my collection now is STILL beautiful because it matters too me and that being happy and loving this hobby is worth more than any single figure I could buy. I loveddd seeing you're collection and dedication to figure collection please keep making amazing videos -- I'll be sure 2 tune in

      @@KohaisCollection trust me it means as much to me as it means to you, I quite truthfully began crying when I was listening to the disclaimer.. It really IS something that needs to be heard more often, social media really has diluted me into think that as a 13 year old I was REQUIRED to buy a scale figure, as an adult I still get affected by the things that people post -- but this video served as a reminder to me that my collection is perfect the way it is because it brings me joy, thank you again for reminding me of that

      With all due respect...I do think you need to reevaluate your thought process ASAP for it is very warped. You are allowing yourself to be dictated by total strangers online- you first compare yourself to complete strangers and their financial standings and for some strange reason think that you are inferior simply for not being able to buy as much as some stranger online and then...you allowed yourself to feel better about it ONLY when some OTHER stranger told you that it's a-okay. What? These collection videos are just for entertainment and to see what figures are out there since there are so many; it is fun to see what and how others collect and how they display their collections..that is all there is to it. Why on earth would you ever feel better or worse based on what strangers online spend lol??? Actually ask yourself that...did you truly feel INFERIOR? I doubt it. Also, nobody should be dictating to you how you feel...you should be controlling that yourself and influencing your own self-respect instead of seeking validation from random strangers online. I am sorry if this sounds terse at all since that's not my intention at all but I did want to say this to you to wake you up a bit and make you consider a different perspective that is far healthier in terms of mindset. Hope this helps.

      @@krisuler7734 thank you for your comment, but I believe you misunderstood what I was trying to say with my original comment -- what I was attempting to say, was that this video was a good reminder, that I shouldn't be comparing myself. I do not feel inferior to other collectors anymore, as I stated, it was an issue that I had when I was younger.... I know it's an extremely unhealthy mindset to have hence why it took me years to work through it, I deeply appreciate the time you took to comment this and do not worry, I did not feel any sort of malice in your comment. I just wanted to say that it was perhaps the way I worded myself, but I no longer have that mindset for a while. Now, I've been able to understand that building up my figure collection in my own way is perfectly ok and comparing myself to strangers online is not ok, what I was attempting to say was that the disclaimer at the beginning of this video is serving as a good reminder that the way I am working with my collection right now is good and that the way I did USED to allow figure collectors to influence the way I felt about things, was a terrible, awful mindset to have -- thank you for the reminder, but I assure you I no longer need it. I'm in a much healthier place right now with my collecting, and even though I follow many collectors on Instagram, still, I no longer feel inferior to them. This happened far before I comment to the original comment as well as your reply, but really, thank you, I hope I don't come off as condescending in my response, but I truly am grateful that you took your time to attempt to help me, but I assure you -- I no longer have that mindset and it is not the result of someone online that helped out of such a mindset.

    I liked what you talked about at the start of the video. I think many in the figure collection community can be very......stuck up about their collections....look at my £40, 000 collection.....yeah, ok.....I would rather not especially if you are pretentious about it. I have watched videos where people cry and complain about how much they have spent on figures, maxxing out their credit cards......so......how about don't! I have been a collector on and off for about 24 years from the older Final Fantasy figures to newer anime figures today. I don't have a credit card so saving and being patient (which can be so hard) is huge for us when we look to collect. Our last figure was something that we saved for about 3 months each so we could go 50/50 on it. Thankfully the figures (they are a pair) are gorgeous so it was well worth it. We are not rich by any means, we are on the lower side of income despite both working hard. But, we buy cheaper furniture and tidy it up, we buy second hand shelving units for figures etc and we love our collection so much. Decorating our living room (figure room) has taken us about 4 years since we moved into our property. Slow going but worth it. Thanks for being so human about collecting and I have to say, your collection is gorgeous and I love how everything is set up and displayed. I also like how you explained how Kohai's figures are displayed. 90% of our collection is of male figures as we just prefer to collect male ones. We do have some waifu figures but, we are always on the look out for male figures and are totally behind advocating for more male and nude male figures!

      Thank you so much for taking the time to leave such a detailed and thoughtful comment. We appreciate the kind words! It is a stance that is very important to us. When it comes to collections, it's easy to get pretentious because it's such a large portion of your life and something you are proud of. So I understand where people are coming from. But when EVERYONE is doing the same thing and just using the price tag as clickbait, it just belittles your passion IMO. Another commenter on this video (@ramenrm) said it well when they said "I think collection tours are ironically cheapened when they brag about the amount of money they spent."
      For us, coming off as pretentious can be exacerbated even further when you attempt to review these figures. It's so easy to sound arrogant and pretentious when saying that "this figure is awful" or "this company sucks" even though it may be someone's personal favorite. So detailed reviews are our current passion. We want anyone watching to be able to understand why a figure is ranked low in some categories and then can compare directly to figures that scored higher. The irony is, in anime figures, more money isn't synonymous with higher quality. A lot of times, it costing more is due to the worth of the IP/popularity. Myethos is one of our favorite companies and they put our some of the cheapest scale figures relative to the competition.
      As a side note, used markets are legit! We have plenty of second hand detolfs and, when we can get it from a trusted source/in person, don't mind buying used figures at all! I'd say almost half of Senpai's collection was purchased on the second hand market from when he used to frequent Japan.
      If you have any links to you all's collection, I'd love to see it! A whole male figure collection? Sounds like a dream to me!

    Awesome video! I absolutely love your introduction regarding the more controversial parts of the hobby.
    To each their own but I have seen tons of videos of people "flexing" how much money they spent on their figure collection but more often than not, it's like I'm seeing someone with a hoarding problem. The silliest part is how several of them have such overwhelmingly large collections that it looks like looks like unorganized clutter that actively hinders their ability to move around or have proper living space. Then they continue to proudly state how much money they spent on it... Your collections, on the other hand, is well-maintained and displayed in an immaculate and appealing way. It's beautiful!

      Of course we too agree. We buy this fancy weeb plastic to visually enjoy, so we do our best to showcase them (literally) the best light. Then on a societal level, we just need to feel like proper adults 😅 (not trying to attack anyone - this our personal definition). But to us, we know we can enjoy this hobby, but we can't let them be our entire personality. It's nice that they are segmented to certain areas of the house so you aren't overwhelmed by them. It's true that I can only handle so many plastic tiddies in my field of view at all times 🤣 I got to have some break from them (and of course, any guests that visit probably feel the same way)

    I love the disclaimer at the beginning! Even though I couldnt care less about anyone else their collection price tag or how many they have, I just like watching what someone has. Some nice figures, some not. I myself have a fairly small collection of about 25 figures ranging from 10 euro to (depending aftermarket price) 3-400 euro. (havent paid such prices) I love bunny figures a lot so I have a couple of 1/4 bunnies. And most are other characters. Some I know, some I dont but bought them because I like them. Maybe I watch anime later.
    I sometimes buy a figure, not that I have huge orders. Only around holiday season I purchase some more as a gift.
    Besides that, I love your collection and honesty! :)

      We are definitely guilty of buying figures we've never seen the show for. As display pieces it's hard to beat. We have more space for bunnies since we were (at least at the time of filming this) almost out of internal display case space, so I gravitated towards them. As I run out of space, I want to buy fewer, but "nicer" figures IMO.

      We don't mind sharing at all! In fact we have affiliate links for the acrylic stands we use :)
      Our Primary acrylic stands we use for all figures, even up to 1/4 scale: amzn.to/3rSDY9l
      These are Secondary acrylic stands for situations our primary cannot be used for: amzn.to/3rTM29X
      Pro Tip: For situations where the figure sits unbalanced on the stand, flip the acrylic stand over and set the figure on the feet of the stand! (it's probably a 50/50 split between stands right side up to upside down).
      I'd say we probably order 4 of the primary stands for every 1 of the secondary stands we order, if that helps with your ratio. The cost of acrylic stands can add up quickly, but they help you make so much more room and aid in the displaying of your collection!
      I hope that helps you out :) feel free to ask any questions. We're lucky to have you here

    The intro to the video was so down to earth and human. I like watching anime figure tours and seeing what others have been collecting for quiet a few years.
    But the moment they start saying, my figure collection is worth 70k dollars, it feels just so... attention seeking. I do understand the proud feeling one might get saying, oh i loved this figure so much that i spent 1.5k on it.
    I started collecting recently, about 4 months ago and the my first 7 figures were prize figures. I LOVED the design, i loved the colors, the character. I didn't only look at price.
    So many collectors can make you feel like you need to have +150 figure collection, with resins and what not.
    Honestly, everyone has their own pace in figure collecting.

There can be some useful information to be shared when it comes to total value, I just don't ever see it done in such a way that would be seen as properly encouraging to new collectors (and in a way that doesn't hurt current collectors).
      And nah, I completely agree. We plan on filming an updated tour this year and we'll revisit this exact same topic haha. Ted Talk 2.0, I guess. And one point I will be making is that I feel even assigning a price to your collection belittles it's worth, especially sentimentally. I agree with the preamble, I think collection tours are ironically cheapened when they brag about the amount of money they spent, at the end of the day it's just nice looking weeb plastic, not your stock portfolio. If you're taking suggestions for the quick reviews, I'd love to see some of the common "grail" figures reviewed! I appreciate you taking the time to comment and for giving your perspective too. I completely agree. I think they are most valuable for those who've maybe...have been collecting for less than 3 years or so. Beyond 3 years, you've been in the hobby long enough to experience things such as being overwhelmed by preorders (or at least a month or two where money was suddenly tight), recognizing your collection grows at different rates, sometimes you have to pass on figures, running out of/low on space, and even positive things such as seeing how much your collection has grown, being able to recognize a timeline of your life in your figures, etc.. Every one of those things definitely humbles you as a collector (for better or worse!).
      But WOW 😲 8 years is a long time! That's longer than Kohai! Any particular series/character your collection gravitates to more than others?

I started getting into the idea of buying figures this year, and I'm a little reluctant/guilty when thinking of the prices of some figures, and since I've been watching "My $175,000 figure collection videos" I've been struck with like a weird sense of guilt and jealousy. It's so odd, but I've come terms with the fact that I can't collect everything, and I'm a fan of manga and other stuff as well so it's best I stick with a modest collection of things that make me happy and eventually it will become a big collection over time. I understand that feeling for sure! It sounds like an odd comparison, but Senpai feels similarly about LEGO. He loves LEGO, but now, for some reason, it's hard for him to buy. He can justify spending $200 on a figure, but spending that on a LEGO set feels wrong (maybe because it feels too much like a toy?). He dreams of having a large LEGO table, but since it really can't be a reality (due to financially having to choose between figures or LEGO), he lives vicariously through others online. But definitely jealous of others and feels guilt when actively participating in buying LEGO. He too has to be extremely selective of what he finally purchases and let's many sets slip by.

    I think it is important to talk about the money so that especially new collectors don't get all exited about this great hobby and then get hit with reality of how expensive this hobby really is. Also it is a big part of the hobby to mange your income to afford this luxury stuff. Of course it is importtant to highlight the conext and the timeframe in which you accumulated all your stuff. Why should your collection bring anybody down? If you compare your collection to others and then get discouraged by it, it is a problem you have with yourself and that goes much deeper than collecting or money. The value of other peoples collections doesn't change how I feel about my collection because as a collector you should have an emotional connection to your stuff no matter what you collect. Just a quick sidenote: there is no such thing as the best collection.

    • @KohaisCollection
      @KohaisCollection  Год назад +1

      Valid points for sure and I appreciate you taking the time to comment! It's an important perspective for us to hear and for others to read :)
      I think there's a dichotomy between those comfortable with money (especially with the idea of large sums of money) and those with less means that struggle to obtain it The perspective from either side dictates how you feel when presented a sum such as $30K (and statistically, given national income averages, when can predict the majority opinion). That can range from "that's unattainable" to, "I can make that happen in 5 years" to "that's no big deal, I've got it right now". Then add to that the dichotomy of those of us who have been in the hobby for a while, vs those that are new.
      Price ultimately is still relative to the collection. If you want the aesthetic, you can always go for cheaper prize figures or even bootlegs. Or you can collect a specific product line like Pop-Up Parades of a specific scale vs a more expensive brand. As a new collector there are many avenues to choose and it's at that point you'll understand what your own collection will cost to obtain.
      To us, I think it's more important to encourage people to "eat the elephant one bite at a time", vs just "here's the elephant" (especially if it comes off as pretentious). If you want to accomplish anything, "the most important step is the first step". And I want to do our best to make sure people are encouraged vs discouraged to take the first step. And for those in the hobby, to not focus on money or anyone else, and keep taking steps.
      And I would playfully disagree 😉 "the best collection, is your own collection." It's uniquely yours and your feelings and mindset when purchasing X figure is what makes the totality of your purchases special, regardless of size. Given that a collection is so uniquely your own, price is almost irrelevant to share and is only self-serving.

    • @KyokoSaphira
      @KyokoSaphira Год назад +1

      Thank you for answering and further explaining your point of view. I can totally see what you mean and agree with you that its better to achieve your goal bit by bit. But we must not forget that this is a luxury hobby that is expensive and I think especially newer collectors need to get a sense of how expensive this thing can get. I see lots of new collectors buying and preordering tons of figures and ending up cancelling most of it because they underestimate how expensive this whole thing is and how fast a collection can grow if not aware of the overall expenses. I honestly believe that most people who put the monetary value of their collection in their titles (guilty of that myself) are not trying to brag but just use this for the youtube algorithm and I think its a good way for other collectors to see things in perspective because no 10.000$ collection will ever look the same. I see no difference in putting the monetary value or putting the amount of figures in their title...both fullfill the same purpose and ultimately are a way to measure ones collection. My point about the best collection I was trying to make is exactly what you wrote. Your collection is always the best collection in your mind and that is how it should be. No amount of money somebody else put into their collection can decrease the emotional value of your own collection. I think that is what we should focus on and teach new collectors. I just feel that the anime figure community here on youtube deserves better than beeing painted in such a negative way. @@KohaisCollection

    • @KohaisCollection
      @KohaisCollection  Год назад

      @@KyokoSaphira that's such a great response to read from you. You are really the first person to bring up the idea of "a luxury hobby" to us and you are completely right about that.
      We'll probably wait until 2024-25 to film another of these (I want the collection to have grown enough to make it interesting again - something like a 25% increase in figures so it feels more new). I'm genuinely curious how the new "Ted Talk" portion will go 😂 so many new perspectives have been presented on the matter.
      Ultimately, a lot of the perspective comes from just not wanting to be perceived as pretentious. Senpai has struggled with being viewed as pretentious in his past and wants to make sure he's no longer seen that way as much as possible. And you are right, it's so hard to present these "luxury" commodities with monetary values without it ultimately just being a way to compare. Even if we do a good job breaking down the "journey" to what the collection is now, we could still be presenting a monthly average cost that's woefully unattainable to some.
      Senpai is really encouraged to start a prize figure collection. I think he wants to keep it to 1 or 2 Detolfs. Be very particular about what goes into it. But create something presentable and be able to fully present that price to audiences without feeling like gloating. Maybe that's a great way to ease people into the hobby for those that are less "fortunate". Show people that you can still have fun in this hobby at a more affordable price and still present it in an awe inspiring way.
      And you are right, it's the algorithm's fault (but it does so because it's what gets views). Price is too clickbaity but it's what gets the views if you don't already have a large subscriber base. I still stand by as a community we need to do better and that being a channel with a large collection, we have an opportunity to present a counter point of view. There are just endlessly more thumbnails of "my 30,000 collection!" Than anything contrary. As another person commented, I do think it cheapens the videos by focusing on the price so much, and I do still feel it harms the community more than helps.
      I do know that the next Ted Talk will probably just be directly targeting new collectors and trying to help them navigate their feelings as they see large collections, see large numbers, and hopefully get them to join our hobby at their own pace and to enjoy it.

      The truthful answer is that I too didn't always like figures! The male dominated market was hard for me to get into, especially just with the over sexualization of the female form. Eventually though, I found my own convictions for collecting. Once I had those I began to appreciate the hobby and one day aspire to make a difference in it!
      We have some other couple friends that are similar. I can think of one where his wife doesn't collect figures, but his joy of collecting encouraged her to start her own collections. They tease each other about their collections but they each have space to appreciate their own.
      It's entirely possible that in being around you, there may be an eventual catalyst for your wife. Maybe she finally gets pulled into an anime to the point where she is inspired to start her own collection. One can always hope, right? :)
      It's not our place to give advice and excuse us if this crosses any boundaries. Just make sure figures don't cause a riff in-between you. Even if she doesn't directly like them, she can still encourage your hobby from afar. Make sure what you spend on your hobbies are of your own discretionary funds. You never want to make her feel like your collection somehow makes you two worse off. If your collection is amicable, it could definitely lead to her finding a similar passion for collecting, even if not figures. Or even still, I'm sure she has your happiness in mind at the least and does what she can to try and accept your hobby :)
      Wishing you two the best! It's definitely fun if it's a passion you can share together, but if not, there's obviously other strong passions that brought you two together. I'm sure she's pretty cool if she married a weeb ❤

    • @KohaisCollection
      @KohaisCollection  Год назад +1

      I’m so sorry we forgot to respond to you! The lighting for the bunnies is done from the shelf above. If you look closely, I have V channel LED strips attached to the top and bottom. The figures on top are up-lit, and the bunnies below the shelf are top lit. Now, important note here, the lighting from the shelf really only hits the back row of the bunnies. The rest of the lighting is filled in by the studio lights. If you were to solely have lighting from the detolf and a source above, it would probably be best to add an up light coming from the top of the detolf as well. Then what’s on top should be well lit. You can also consider track lighting with spots to light what’s on top of your cases.

    Looking at senpai's collection, I was pleasantly surprised by someone who is deep into the figure collection world yet not really bitten by the gacha curse.
    Unfortunately, kohai failed that sanity check. Whereas the moderate amount of Fate, GF can still be "just because nice figures", the AL certainly is of one who have fallen to the curse.
    My personal curse is Fate. I'm currently trying, although not very hard, to get all the classes. Got all the regulars but the picking for some extra class is kind of slim.
    That is a lot of Asukas. I am planning to acquire a bit more Eva, but I do have a preference for the suit design from the original series and most new releases are based on rebuilt so it's kind of slow going.
    I would say that is a lot of Kurumi but... can't judge others when I'm worse off.
    The love live collection is pretty impressive as well. For some reason, while I liked the original series well enough(got the blu rays, music cds etc), I only really like Maki as a character.
    That is a lot of 18+ figures, I don't have many of those. Not that I have anything against 18+, it's just that I'm very character first visual second kind of person, so I don't buy much OC in general. Unfortunately, most 18+ are OC as most "normal" series would not "go there" if you will. It's kind of surpriing how few eroge series have figures. There's just not that many in general and like half of them are nekopara. There are a couple character from eroge that I would like figure of.
    I also have some that are artisitcally nude, which aren't really 18+ but probably would need to be censored for YT anyawy.

      We love this comment so much 😂 thank you for the in-depth reply. Any links to your collection?!
      Senpai hides his gotcha shame digitally in Genshin impact 💰🙃 Kohai....yeah. AL figures are a disease, though she's spent little digitally.
      Fate is so alluring, but over got to be good. One Piece figures feel the same way. Just overwhelming how many exist.
      Senpai thankfully has hit the point where both Kurumi and Asuka (as well as Miku) feel "complete" in the sense the collections stand on their own and don't need to be expanded. So he's gotten more and more picky about figures for those collections. I don't think he's bought an Asuka figure in years. Kurumi had basically stopped until the 1/2.5 and 1/4 Yoshitoku entered the scene.
      Regarding 18+, we've gone far enough down the rabbit hole that we now recognize artists. So now these characters to us feel more equal to normal anime characters with stories (if that makes sense).
      Oh yeah? What eroge characters would you like to see in figure form?
      Thank you so much for your thorough comment. We're lucky to have you ❤️

      @@KohaisCollection Most of my collection can be found on MFC. My MFC user name is lilithwill. I would post a link but YT sometimes eats comments with links so...
      I have spent surprisingly little digitally on FGO, barely enough to get a proper figure. I've actually spent a tad more in Nikke, probably going to collect a few figures from that eventually but at least for now the potential is small as there are only a few characters I really like.
      As for eroge characters I'd like... Off the top of my head.
      Kisara from Eroge H mo Game mo kaihatsu zanmai
      Kaguya from Kuroinu
      Yorihime from Shikkoku no shaga
      Airi from Lilitales
      Tsubaki from Maid Kyouiku
      Also won't mind a 18+ Chiyo, since she straddles both sides in terms of stories. I'm actually somewhat surprised at the lack of an official 18+ figure given her origin and how many "normal" figure she have. There are some that are close, but none that crosses the line.
      P.S. Kaguya might have some hope, as there are figures from that series, one of which I've ordered. But at the same time, this is also one of those where I feel least attached to the character herself. It's more that I find the particular design of miko attractive. The most popular miko is probably Reimu, but she's more toward the derp/cute direction so not what I'm looking for.

You also had Nekopara and Kohai had my ultimate grail bunny girls. The way that you displayed everything is also beautiful- I loved it. I love how you put the miniature figures next to the larger counterparts. Great collection and tour!
    With that said...I am really disturbed by some of these comments lol I do value what you were saying at the beginning of the video so this has nothing to do with you...just the mindsets of so many folks in the comments. Why on earth are grown adults comparing themselves to random strangers online??? This is a FUN hobby ..it's anime figurines ffs lol yes a lot of them are like art pieces but who cares if your collection is smaller than someone else's? Who cares if someone chooses to reveal how much they spent on their figures and others choose to not?? When I watch someone's collection I never once compare it to my own..I never once feel superior or inferior lol ...I simply look at what figures they have and how they display them. If you just sit there comparing yourself ...that is such a warped way of thinking about things and spending your time in this community. Also the fact that so many stated in the comments that they now felt oh so much better because yet another stranger said that it's okay to have a small collection is also strange even if your intentions were completely altruistic and you obviously did nothing wrong there. It's strange that validation comes from someone online rather than themselves...what is going on guys??? Have folks become that simple-minded that they cannot even validate themselves anymore? They cannot look at someone having more than what they have and just feel happy for them? That is not right. I hope that this can wake up some of these commenters to rethinking their mindsets and perhaps changing this very unhealthy approach to being in the community. This reminds me of all those IG scrollers who legit cannot look at anyone living an interesting or aesthetically pleasing lifestyle because they start feeling bad about themselves...that is SO warped lol Things need to change. I hope this helps and didn't read too harshly-sometimes text can read far more tersely than intended lol ✌🏻😁😜

    I personally wouldn't collect Anime figures because I don't want the stigma Kill LA Kill is one of my favourite anime but I am not a perv but owning one of these would definitely brand me as one I don't see the characters as sex objects in fact I respect Satsuki and that's why I love her, her strong noble air is what I love about her I was totally supprised the her transformation didn't destroy my respect for her dispite the nature of her outfit.
    It was this that made me realise that it's YOUR attitude and actions that make you a perv not enjoying skimpy or revealing outfits if I see a characters panties as long as I am not wolf whistling or making lewd comments and I remain respectful there really isn't a problem is there?

      Completely understandable. A lot of what you apply goes for anime in general. Just like someone walking in on you watching Kill La Kill and having to explain away the overtly sexual imagery in exchange for the content and message of the show (there's almost nothing more hype than hearing "don't lose your way" kick on in the background - great stuff!).

      @@matthew-005 Most definitely! When it comes to anything sexual, your own comfort level is all that matters. And your own comfort is reasonable to include other's opinions on how they see you/your likes/what you are comfortable with. Take your time exploring and navigating this space. There's something for everyone, sexual or non sexual. As with many artforms, there are many ways to enjoy, interpret, and experience what's presented to you. And it's all valid. There's beauty in the nude form both sexually and non sexually.
      Just be sure at the end of the day you are doing right by yourself. Put your experience and desires before others. The world has too much to offer and missing out on enjoyment because of other's opinions can be very tiring and detrimental to your own health.

    Your insurance company is very disappointed at your detailed inventory.

    • @KohaisCollection
      @KohaisCollection  6 месяцев назад +1

      So....we "should". So Real talk about insurance since we had no one to talk to about it, so I'll share what we found.
      The difficulty for us are computers, electronics, and figures (collectibles). A LOT of home owners insurance cap each category and most don't cover collectibles at all. I even encountered major issues just trying to find policies that had higher than a $10K threshold for computers. I landed on a Farmer's insurance plan that's their top tier offering. What's supposedly special about it (I say "supposedly" because at the end of the day, we all know we can't trust insurance companies and they'll do everything they can to not pay) is that the coverage for items in the home is a BLANKET policy. So we have a $250K policy for ALL items in the home regardless of category (including collectibles). It's definitely pricey. IIRC it's in the 4K a year range for us. But our biggest fear too is a fire (or a disaster like a tornado). But the blanket policy was cheaper than raising each category. Ex trying to raise computers to $60K.
      So hopefully Farmer's will in fact take care of us like the policy states. I know we'll be all over that coverage value if you consider all interior items (because it includes furniture, electronics, computers, figures, etc). So hopefully we'll be taken care of if something happens ...
      Fingers crossed none of us in the community has to find out 😔

    It doesn't bother me how people show off their collection either way but saying how many figures you have is pretty much the same as saying how much your collection is worth. Either way it presents a daunting number to those who want to achieve it but can't.

    • @KohaisCollection
      @KohaisCollection  Год назад

      I understand what point you are stating, but they aren't in the same ball park from the perspective of "new collectors".
      Only those already collecting could potentially translate a quantity to an average price. You would need the experience of recognizing brands and their respective price for the scales presented. If you have that experience already, you don't need a price stated. You'll know just by looking at it. So why state your price at all? Stating it is only self-serving at that point and then potentially damaging to others for the reasons stated in our video.
      One of our points was that price is completely relative to the collection, so it doesn't matter. If someone wants the aesthetic of our collection, they could collect 500 prize figures. Or someone could fill every case we have with a collection of 100 resin statues. The difference in cost being dramatically different between the two.
      If you think our statement of quantity is the same as admission of worth, then I would bet you are an experienced collector that has, at the very least, spent a lot of time in the hobby window shopping and has amassed enough knowledge to know what to expect, cost wise, if you see a 1/4 bunny figure, 18+ figure, Alter 1/6 vs. Broccoli 1/6, etc. 🙂
      On the other hand, people can easily translate money to their own life as you need it to survive. Then your perspective on certain numbers, say $30,000, is relative to only you. But statistically, we can guess the perspective given national household incomes. Significantly fewer come from a place of privilege regarding money.
      But yes! I do appreciate your commentary and for presenting your perspective ❤️ You present what could be an extremely hypocritical element to our video, especially after rambling certain statements for 15 minutes 😂 and it's something we'll keep in mind for future videos. Though, given the majority opinion of the responses in the comments, I think we'll continue to state quantities as that's really no different than sharing pictures of the collection. Someone can always pause and count items. But pausing to look up each figure and their price would is orders of magnitude more difficult 🤣

    • @someonlinepersona
      @someonlinepersona Год назад +1

      @@KohaisCollection I think the majority opinion has been shaped by how it was framed in the video. If you want to grow your channel, you may also be interested in the opinion of those who chose not to click on the video after seeing another thumbnail referring to someone showing off how big their collection is. 😀
      Regardless, I am pretty sure that anyone who has even glanced at figure prices can tell that a lot of money has been spent on your collection. Whether it is $20000 or $80000, it doesn't really make much of a difference. Most people will be able to tell that they are not going to achieve a collection of this size/value.
      My point is that you can show the price and/or the count, or you can just show your collection without any numerical data at all. In the end the effect will still be "wow, these people spent a lot on this hobby". I'm not saying that you shouldn't show it off, I'm just saying there is no point splitting hairs about how while also taking a shot at other youtube figure channels that did disclose a monetary value.

Although they're more expensive than US brands, paint, articulation, and overall quality is significantly better.
