Connor's like that one guy in a friend group that drags someone he knows to his friends and make that someone tell a crazy story that happened in their life
Poor guy. Lol. I personally really respect him for his work but I understand where he's coming from when he says he feels somewhat ashamed for beeing most known for his Chris-Chan documentary. But I honestly think he can be proud of that. He reached a new milestone for something not many people have done, beeing a "Christorian".
47:15 "Is Chris the original gamer?" everyone laughs but the realization on Geno's face is fucking priceless, hes like "These guys are gonna lose their shit when i tell them about this"
I can't help but remember the very famous quote about Chris. "He seems intelligent enough to understand that he does not understand, and that is the hardest part of all."
Yeah definitely is. I started to study fiction writing and I also often get wrapped up in the lives of people who're just as weird as this individual and all I could say is that with stories you have to work hard to make your words feel believable, while people like these don't have to make their lives believable for them to exist.
I have never heard such sadness as Geno saying "he satisfied his mother like his dad never could". I think the absolute worst part is that Chris did this to his confused, weak mother
"I don't believe he ever, Mr. C, any of her past boyfriends, ex-husbands... haven't really reached and hit her G-spot really with their ∂¡cks. ” -Chris, honoring Bob's memory by claiming that he was better at ƒµcking the man's wife than he ever was.
Sometimes I think about (Christine) as one of the most interesting cases of potentially overlapping philosophical beliefs manifested in one person. (utilitarianism and deontology) Covid hit I was going to ask my professor about this person but I never got a chance to! I always felt like those two philosophies could not tell me whether or not Chris-chan was a good person! Most document person in human history so far!
as someone who witnessed the whole story up close I can tell you, It's worse than that. Is as if you entered a super secret code that un locks the worst possible choices throughout the game and willingly following that path.
Everything that can go right will go right. Chris Chan was making good money, he had a fan base that was giving him decent money, but of course, because it's Chris Chan he fucks it all up. He gets lazy and refuses to fulfill orders, he then outsources his medalian production and income to a group of weens, and all he gets in return is a trip or two to Mcdonalds. He's had as much good as he had bad, and you could argue that he had more good than bad, but his own decisions turn everything good in his life to shit.
@Buster head I agree it was immoral and damaging to Chris' future that his parents refused to send provide special schooling of any kind, attend to any of Chris' differing needs, and put him through the mainstream schooling gamut. That didn't make Chris repeatedly rape their mother, nor did it stop the drawing of a comic, nor did it stop the drawing of art commissions.
@@AdamOwenBrowning it's not just the lack of parenting from her parents. It's mostly the horrible gaslighting and disgusting teachings from the trolls whos probably more of a parent to her in terms of upbringing from the podcast it sounds like she doesn't even know raping her mum is such a bad thing? Maybe in her mind it's just something that's not accepted by society? If she was raised by porn like Geno said, I'm sure one can see how she doesn't understand that concept because rape is not a thing in a lot of porn
1. There are no heros in the Chris Chan Story 2. Go support Geno's other channels. 3. I hope Geno takes as much time as needed, but I would love if he finishes the Chris Chan Story and just leave the channel for that. Its one of the greatest video series on youtube at this point
Actually there are like atleast 2 "heroes" One of them was that one troll who pretends to be a black dude with a ghetto/hood accent having a conversation with Chris and proceeds to Validate chris for who he, supports his comic and gives him motivational advice The other one was that troll pretend to be a english dude who try to get Chris into lets play just to get atleast money off of it I wouldn't really call them heroes cause they did nothing impact to Chris's life but they are the few are actually quite nice to Chris
@@couchchip6527 'she' fucked up in so many ways that it's just not possible to defend someone like that. Just watch those videos about chris-chan, you'll truly understand why i say this.
It looks like Geno did this project at the expense of his personal well being. He looks like he may have been broken, or took on a certain type of sadness from the burden of accumulating the amount of daunting information that comes with Chris Chan and his multiple realities. Godspeed Geno, you’ve earned your martyrdom.
As the parent of a high functioning autistic 15yro son, I'm at a loss for how Chris Chan was raised. 😯 it definitely comes down to parenting and explaining things in a way the kid understands. It's hard but as said earlier, the parents just avoided this. I took classes for over a year to learn ways to communicate, explain and teach decision making skills to prepare my son for adulthood. 😔 sad.
My nephew is now 19 and lives a perfectly normal life and he has ASD and ADHD too. We all tried our damned best to understand what his issues are and how we could help and of course we also got him help so he could learn how to live with his issues. Years and years worth of help of different kinds and it wasn't hard but damn was it worth it. Looking at someone like Chris-chan makes me not just angry but also sad. Someone failed that person for them to become the way they are now.
It's people like you making the world a better place a bit at a time. I think that there's a possibility that Chris' parents couldn't comprehend that they needed to be up to the task of raising a child with these type of learning needs, they were either ignorant of it or actively avoidant of it because of any reason. It was clearly and repeatedly pointed our during the podcast that parent had to take a more active role for Chris. I can only hope that parents of children with needs like these get correctly educated in order to facilitate integration into society.
i feel the same exact way. my have a adult brother with high functioning autism. it has been a loooong and hard road to get him to be semi independent and he still needs help with a lot of things. espiecially with people who are trying to take advantage of him. people with high functioning autism are VERY susceptible to scams because they dont find it easy to differentiate people who lie versus people who have their best interests. whatever chris chan's parents were doing was likely, lack of resource, lack of diagnosis, lack of support. just simply, they were not equipped to deal with chris chan's issues and that ate their family alive....the internet bullying just made everything worse. it's not chris chans fault. if anything i blame the parents the most for allowing things to get this bad without even attempting to intervene. i feel sorry for their entire family to be honest. it's hard enough to have a diagnosis that your child will never become grow up to be normal...let alone the things that chris chan has gone through, the abuse that happens within his family, the abuse that chris chan does to himself & to others. it's tough to see him unravel knowing that could have easily happened to my brother if we were not careful or had the right help. Chris could be thriving given the right chance and circumstance. For the people who went through abusing chris chan online....i hope you don't ever feel proud that you were abusing someone with a learning disability. Leave him alone & let the government deal with the issue. I think he's been through enough.
just listening to this podcast is just a constant roller coaster of "he tried to make amends for his actions, He then tried to commit vehicular manslaughter"
The constant shift of narrative and the progress to even more absurd events in this episode really keeps you on your toes. What astounds me even more is that Geno barely managed to stay in chronological order. Imagine what it must feel like to watch his 60 part documentary? lol
@@lewddewdero he’s an insanely talented multi instrumentalist and documentary maker he has more talent in his pinky nail than most of us have in our whole body. Super talented dude it’s always interesting to hear someone creative talk about their art and process.
@@lewddewdero The previous replies to your comment are valid. That being said, so is your comment. Dispite his talents, he'll likely never be back on this podcast to talk about anything other than Chris-Chan for the exact reason you mention, he simply doesn't have the name-recognition and notoriety as Chris. People will ask themselves literally the exact question you've asked, and that podcast simply wouldn't get the clicks that one based on Chris-Chan would.
This is Forrest Gump if you choose all the options to lead to the secret worst ending. It is also what happens when Hideo Kojima makes a video game of David Lynch's remake of a John Waters movie.
That's unlikely, he's in China right now with his wife (from what I remember from his vids) and lives with her. Unless he returns back to Japan for some reason or the boys decide to go to China, ain't no way they meeting.
The thing is it's a LOT more than just autism. Chris has a whole slew of disorders, intellectual disabilities, and mental illnesses all of which were greatly amplified by the constant torture Chris was put through to the point where Chris isn't even living in reality anymore (not to mention how hyper susceptible Chris is to the influence of others). Obviously Chris has done a lot of appalling things, but there's no doubt in my mind Chris would have not ended up that way if Chris had a stable upbringing and had not been put through such hell online. I've never seen a better example of how horribly the internet can twist people both Chris and Chris' abusers; and I can't even fathom how pathetic the people who participated in Chris' torturing had to have been to go to such a level to feel better about their own miserable lives. On all fronts it's just a really depressing situation.
His progression has all of the same earmarks of Ed Gein. An overbearing mother who coddled him while simultaneously manipulating him, Years of mental isolation in his own weird fantasy world Bad parenting rubbing off on the child to awful effect Indifferent to the interests of others. Seriously, the parallels with the environment that Ed Gein grew up are scary, but Chris Chan is like if Ed Gein videotaped himself making his skin suit.
But that’s the basic of every upbringing. Ofcourse a better upbringing equals a better life. But there is also the fact that some people are just too far gone. He has become a vision monster. He’s been a racist and a homophobic little kid all his life.
There were times through this episode where you could relate to Chris (e.i obsession with fiction, bad upbringing, bullying etc.) but you hear the next thing he does and you feel better about yourself for once.
Yeah, totally. I was always that nerd who would read and play WoW. But Chris is just something else. I was brought up in a neglectful household too, but to think so many things went wrong for Chris to turn out like this... it just beggars belief.
@@Phoebe5448 There were instances where I thought to myself how I could've turned out like Chris-chan. Obviously, not the mom thing, but his fixation on fiction and his happier years, loneliness, victimhood, and crippling detachment from reality in favor of his own daydreams hit very close to home.
as much as i enjoyed Geno's telling of the Chris Chan events, i wish we got more time dedicated to talking about Geno himself, maybe should've split the episode 50/50 or something
As someone born with 1 hand, for me my mother taught me to not care what others thought. I wish Chris had this kind of guidance, rather than being told the whole world is against you. THAT maybe would have messed me up... I'm cynical enough with a positive outlook, i can only imagine.
@@jambott5520 I think Chris was messed up before the internet. Especially earlier you can see how badly he was raised as a child, and the extreme conservative background. I'm not talking your mate that's a Republican. This is the fairly racist middle class family that looks like trailer trash.
@@jambott5520 Chris came up with the attraction sign with no internet input. That was completely their own choice and were told directly not to do that and why by an older adult. People during the documentary started with messing with Chris but even they got disturbed after a while and started trying to give advice and even give Chris money to help themselves. Chris denied every help. Not by going quiet or something small either usually. It was usually an angry tantrum. Chris even before the internet believed they could curse people with a curse ye hami ha. And would do it to their dean and to security guards. As in they'd literally do the dragon ball z attack pose and shout loudly in public the name. Chris did not learn most of their crazy from trolls. That shit was already in them. @@legojay14 yes the "crazy" was in her before she was harassed nonstop online and in person for literally 15 years, but if you think that she would have done most of the shit that she did without direct goading and enabling from people online you're in denial
I think the only good thing that ever came out of christory was Liquid Chris. He had his fun, made people laugh, moved on with his life and ended up being an oncologist. Everything else revolving around Chris Chan was a garbage fire.
I think Geno's documentation of Chris's life is very important as a case study . Like it shows what's wrong with a lot of things (internet , parenting , people, media). You can literally pick any topic and you'd find chris delving into it. A lot of lessons should be learned from this. Be nice on the internet guys , it's not that hard (I know it's like screaming into the void at this point but should be said)
The anomity the internet brings and that people hide behind allows them the safety to do things they know they normally couldn't do publicly. That's why trolling is so proliferate online. People indulge in their darker natures, which says a lot about the nature of people.
I'm surprised at how easily people are manipulated into justifying the level of abuse, at times on a criminal level, because he is reacting to a well-organized - albeit ignorant - group of people who only wished him harm. Because his parents had no idea how to help him; because people genuinely believed that 'telling him something' was enough of a learning platform; because he had little to no comprehension on how to communicate: because of all these things (likely more) - the abuse and continued attacks are justified based on (as Geno himself stated)"He could have stopped this at anytime." I really question this thinking. We're watching someone with some level of autism trying to fit into a world that, for the most part, just wants to do him harm for their own amusement. And Geno, on more than occasion, offers his personal commentary to justify all this.
My favorite topic to pick from in the Chris-chan mythos is that the Marvel Multiverse is canon. Chris mentions our universe as Earth-1218, which is exactly what Marvel Comics labels the real world as. Not sure if that's what Chris came across. The trolls must've introduced him to that.
@@bilinasmini3480 no you're right it is definitely more than that. There's got to sadly be a lot more mental illnesses/disorders/disabilities :/ hopefully while chris is in jail they can get chris the help they need
@@bilinasmini3480 Eh, Chris ain't even that bad. Words of a psychiatrist (blogger; blog name is "slatestarcodex", post title: "Against Against Autism Cures") On the one hand, about half my friends, my girlfriend, and my ex-girlfriend all identify as autistic. For that matter, people keep trying to tell me I’m autistic. When people say “autistic” in cases like this, they mean “introverted, likes math and trains, some unusual sensory sensitivities, and makes cute hand movements when they get excited.” On the other hand, I work as a psychiatrist and some of my patients are autistic. Many of these patients are nonverbal. Many of them are violent. Many of them scream all the time. Some of them seem to live their entire lives as one big effort to kill or maim themselves which is constantly being thwarted by their caretakers and doctors. I particularly remember one patient who was so desperate to scratch her own face - not in a ‘scratch an itch’ way, but in a ‘I hate myself and want to die’ way - that she had to be kept constantly restrained, and each attempt to take her out of restraints for something as basic as going to the bathroom ended with her attacking the nurse involved. This was one of the worse patients, but by no means unique. The popular literature about autism tends to fall into the genre of “Doctors hate her! Area mom cured her child’s autism with This One Weird Trick!” Common One-Weird-Tricks include gluten-free diets, casein-free diets, massive multivitamin doses, and whatever else the cutting edge of quackery can dream up. The autism rights people are rightly suspicious of this entire category. But I worry they have their own One-Weird-Trick: treating autistic people decently. You should treat autistic people decently because it’s the right thing to do. But it is not One-Weird-Trick. Avoiding abusive treatment will prevent things from being worse than they have to be, but that’s all. It will not turn severely disabled people into independent, happy-go-lucky angels.
Near the ending seeing the pug for the music channel was nice though, listened to his Plastic Love cover and it was great. Hope he branches out more also.

The line "Chris was raised by pornography" made me sadly recall just how much !ncest porn there is and I’m now filled with a new kind of dread. Great EP Hope Geno can be a guest again
So...I work with individuals with autism. All these idiosyncrasies - the obsession with nostalgia, insistence on inappropriate touching with friends/inability to express romantic feelings appropriately, falling for obvious lies, using racial slurs, literally ALL of what makes their behavior 'odd' are symptoms of autism. They are 'tics' that have to be worked on, almost like really bad habits. With early intervention and lifelong help, you can function in life quite well. I wish they could have gotten that help.
I think that they put it very well when they pointed out that Chris was raised by trolls and that the tragedy was that there wasn't any person in his/her life that had any interest on her betterment
When Joey mentioned how he wants to keep talking so the conversation continues but struggles to find words, made me realize how great of a host Connor is this episode since he has been able to follow up and continue the conversation no matter what. Good job Cannur
@AniKhang I think Connor has probably seen most of the Geno's documentary and that's why he was able to keep adding to the confrontation. Since he's so fascinated by it, he probably just really wanted to talk about Chris Chan. Connor also said that he was the one who wanted Geno Samuel on the podcast. Finally they also said that the host on guest episodes is basically random, so maybe Connor would have 'hosted' even though he wasn't in the hosting chair.
This is one of the most rewatchable episodes in Trash Taste history. They found a guest outside their field and made it an interesting and engaging conversation

@@Carlosdreamur because anyone that milks chris has a negative stigma. The only people that have a positive image in Chrischan's sphere are the Christorians because they've documented. Geno, Based Shaman, Dillon, and Gibi just suck Chris teats
What I like about this Episode is that we get to see Geno's honest take on Chris-chan, obviously i appreciate his neutral take in his Comprehensive series but it's still niceto hear.
As someone who has autism themselves I do kinda understand Chris as it is very difficult for some, including me, to actually know what's appropriate and what's not and I certainly have said and done some heinous shit in my life. What baffles me is that their parents just never did anything to teach them. I mean autism shouldn't be an excuse for hit and run when raised even by a mediocre parent let alone the more recent stuff.
I think a lot of us with autism become invested with Chris for similar reasons. We can all see a little bit of ourselves in him, but we have the self-awareness to cope with it. Watching the Chris Chan documentary has been a marvelous help in identifying a lot of my negative, and in some cases, toxic, behaviors!
@@jackcinephile7554 I personally don't know Chris at all, but I probably won't check into him any further since he sounds like on of those other idiots on the internet, trying desperately to become a well-known figure. As an autistic grill of 24, I feel like he just smears the image of the autism spectrum. So hearing that he does all these extreme things, idk but I find it very pathetic. Feels like he is using his mental health and autism as an excuse, and that just kinda frustrates me since people with autism already have an inaccurate representation in the media. But that's me ;x Good to hear that it helps you with self-identification. I hope you can also find more positive sources! Much luck and love
I feel kinda bad for Geno. "I'd like to be known for other things besides documenting Chris Chan" and then proceeds to be accidentally referred to as Chris multiple times, which is. So much worse. And then getting contacted for a real life streaming service documentary, where the normal non-internet addicts can see it. He's going to be known as the Chris Chan guy even more. You know when documentaries bring in someone to talk about the subject and it's like "Name Of Person, Role/Occupation related to subject," his should just inexplicably be "Musician" or "Yokai Enthusiast" or just something completely different from "Internet Christorian"
@@oomay1925 clearly, it seems it's had some effect on him. When Connor asks do you ever wonder and think about whether documenting this person is ethical or not, he's like Yeah, I have, a lot.
58:40 I genuinely think that Geno’s coverage of Chris Chan is ultimately a good thing. It’s by far the healthiest way to consume this kind of content, and because of how thorough it is, less people are gonna feel inclined to become part of this messed up Chris Chan community out of morbid curiosity.
The first place I heard "boyfriend-free girl" was in the Facebook relationship status options back when I used Facebook in the earlier 2010s. And I selected it for my relationship status. It seemed like a pretty innocent thing at the time- I would want a girlfriend someday, I wouldn't want to be party to infidelity, and that shouldn't be too weird. Then I learned about Chris-Chan. I don't know if whoever named the various Facebook relationship statuses knew where the term came from, but I wouldn't think that it would be an option anymore.
As much as I love the Christory, I really want to know more about Geno without the Chris Chan connection. Props to Connor for opening about Geno at the near end

Early internet was wild. If you go really far back, you can find a lot of insane individuals that do insane shit like Chris, albeit not as well documented. Judging by his eye brows' expression, he seems to be a bit stressed discussing this topic (literally who wouldn’t be, the whole Christ-chan story is traumatizing).
@@anustubhmishra i think that could be because the bois are strangers to him and he is sitting there in front of a camera for three hours talking about such a disturbing topic. After watching the entire documentary many, many times, I am completely convinced that even without the trolls Chris was destined to be a bad person. There are so many examples of him doing completely inexcusable things without the involvement of any trolls, i.e his harassment of Megan, him wishing death upon Adam Stackhouse, him saying he should sexually assault his church councilor, him running over Michael Snyder, etc. The trolls are without a doubt responsible for his completely fucked view of reality, but that doesn't change the fact that Chris has always been a bad person.
Ah yes. We mentally ill people are just born and destined to be "Bad people". Because that's how human psychology and child development works. Nah, fu. They haven't "always been a bad person.", it would be news to me that babies are born racist and misogynistic. You talk about trolls, somehow missing the complete failure his parents were from birth, the abuse and negligence from them and the rest of society. And how much more these things influence Neurodivergent people in contrast to typical ones. Pretty much all of this could have been prevented if he got the proper care for a neurodivergent kid/person. But luckily, hardly anybody in society cares, because we're just bad people and should magically "act normal". And instead of therapy, we get beaten. I'm not saying that they're not a bad person doing inexcusable things. Just that it wasn't their decision to become one. They could have led a decent live, like many of us do.
@@alucard303 Good job completely misrepresenting what I said. I said he was destined to be a bad person regardless of the trolls, a statement that doesn't disregard his absolutely terrible upbringing. With or without the trolls, Chris is still a bad person, as evident by how he has acted without the influence of the trolls. Oh, and btw, I don't think we can blame his parents for how he treats women.
I guess I do understand what you're trying to say, but I can't help but think there could have been someway to avoid or at least minimize this whole debacle. Chris has a lot of mental disorders. (and in the past time mental illness wasn't as treated as good as now, well... currently mental illness still a have some stigmas and is still treated somewhat poorly, but I think you get where I'm getting at) For some people it's really hard to know right from wrong and know when you have crossed over the line, but if there might have been someone who could watch Chris, regulate his behavior and know how to deal with it/them, then most of this probably wouldn't have happened as it did. Even though Chris did things that are inexcusable, they are still just a person with mental disorders, you can't quite fairly compare that with your average healthy human. But they certainly didn't deserved to be the laughingstock for the whole internet and world to see and/or be bullied/harassed over things they had no control over even before his birth. Chris very cognitively underdeveloped. I also have a mental illness, albeit not as extreme in Chris and also pretty much incomparable. Knowing what I know; working on your mental disorder gets harder the older you get, because it's difficult to kill off habits and thought processes that you grew up with. If there was someone who could have interfered when Chris was still young and developing stage, things might have not gone this downhill. Sadly the damage has already been done and it does seem like it has gone so far that they can't go back anymore. Well, that's just my two cents.
The Chris Chan story reminds me of that black mirror ep where trolls torture this guy but at the end you find out that he was a Pedro-phile who watches child popcorn.
I stopped following Chris' story after his dad died. I came back when he pepper sprayed a gamestop employee because he was angry about the color of sonics arms.

It's crazy how the moment you become associated with Chris you kinda become a background character in his little world. You get your own CWCki page and everything. My friend is a Christorian and he told me about basketball player who went to same high school as Chris. His career seems to be pretty uneventful aside from the fact that he was within proximity of Chris. It's morbidly fascinating how his infamy impacts people in Chris's world...
Cole Smithey was once pretty well known for his employment as a professional film critic under Warner Brothers, where he published several infamous hipster takes. Nobody remembers former Disney prodigy Vanessa Hudgens-but everybody remembers the troll who catfished Chris into standing up Miyamoto and Reggie. We're all just supporting characters or extras, and Chris is the protagonist-that's the reality of living in this universe, and it's the most existentially horrifying thing once you figure that out. Literally everyone beginning to look into the Chris Chan story: "this can't possibly get worse, can it?"

I can't help but remember the very famous quote about Chris. "He seems intelligent enough to understand that he does not understand, and that is the hardest part of all."
hearing all these stories, it really solidifies the quote: "Reality is stranger than fiction"
Yeah definitely is. I started to study fiction writing and I also often get wrapped up in the lives of people who're just as weird as this individual and all I could say is that with stories you have to work hard to make your words feel believable, while people like these don't have to make their lives believable for them to exist.
The real world is the strangest thing in existence.
Definitely, reality will always be way creepier then any fiction in the world

He wasn’t raised, he was left to his own devices
Well, you already covered more ground on being a better parent then Chris Chan's. Their idea of taking care of Autism was to just ignore it.
i feel the same exact way. my have a adult brother with high functioning autism. it has been a loooong and hard road to get him to be semi independent and he still needs help with a lot of things. espiecially with people who are trying to take advantage of him. people with high functioning autism are VERY susceptible to scams because they dont find it easy to differentiate people who lie versus people who have their best interests.
whatever chris chan's parents were doing was likely, lack of resource, lack of diagnosis, lack of support. just simply, they were not equipped to deal with chris chan's issues and that ate their family alive....the internet bullying just made everything worse. it's not chris chans fault. if anything i blame the parents the most for allowing things to get this bad without even attempting to intervene.
i feel sorry for their entire family to be honest. it's hard enough to have a diagnosis that your child will never become grow up to be normal...let alone the things that chris chan has gone through, the abuse that happens within his family, the abuse that chris chan does to himself & to others.
it's tough to see him unravel knowing that could have easily happened to my brother if we were not careful or had the right help. Chris could be thriving given the right chance and circumstance.
For the people who went through abusing chris chan online....i hope you don't ever feel proud that you were abusing someone with a learning disability.
Leave him alone & let the government deal with the issue. I think he's been through enough.

Also the importance of getting the right treatment when a child is diagnosed with something

@@bilinasmini3480 Eh, Chris ain't even that bad. Words of a psychiatrist (blogger; blog name is "slatestarcodex", post title: "Against Against Autism Cures")
On the one hand, about half my friends, my girlfriend, and my ex-girlfriend all identify as autistic. For that matter, people keep trying to tell me I’m autistic. When people say “autistic” in cases like this, they mean “introverted, likes math and trains, some unusual sensory sensitivities, and makes cute hand movements when they get excited.”
On the other hand, I work as a psychiatrist and some of my patients are autistic.

Good job Cannur
I wonder if Connor intended the conversation to focus so much on Chris rather than Geno. Regardless, it was a wild episode 😅
Cah'nur
You mean The Virginian, aka "CDawgVA"?
@@AniKhang The topic is Chris Chan though, so it makes sense. Connor did try to insert Geno's perspective on every now and then.
This is one of the most rewatchable episodes in Trash Taste history. They found a guest outside their field and made it an interesting and engaging conversation

Yeah, I'm autistic too. I feel like I want to sympathise but autistic people can be lovely or completely terrible just like everyone else.
Chris' parents, especially his dad, could never accept the fact he was austistic.
But that's me ;x
Good to hear that it helps you with self-identification. I hope you can also find more positive sources!
Much luck and love
@@FoxYinnyy Ngl, I'd probably do the same with you as well. The ethical problem of commodifying Chris' life feels wrong.
I feel like being so dedicated to making these documentaries would put me in a bad mental place. Idk how he stays sane doing it for so long.
He earned the reputation. If he doesn't want to be know as the Christorian then do something else.
I mean the guy has made 40 hours of content about it, he could just stop if he wanted to
Yep
@@oomay1925 clearly, it seems it's had some effect on him. When Connor asks do you ever wonder and think about whether documenting this person is ethical or not, he's like Yeah, I have, a lot.

I genuinely think that Geno’s coverage of Chris Chan is ultimately a good thing. It’s by far the healthiest way to consume this kind of content, and because of how thorough it is, less people are gonna feel inclined to become part of this messed up Chris Chan community out of morbid curiosity.
Plus it gives people doing research of that kind tons of study material no test controlled test could give them.
Ahhh, you could LITERALLY clip together Garnt's reactions as the podcast continues and call it "Stages of Grief: Discovering Chris-Chan" 🤣
That's exactly what I must have looked like too when I first learned about this person some years ago.
@@DieAlteistwiederda Right?? I'm late to the party on Chris Chan too so it's almost cathartic to see people melting down over the different stories. 😯

The story of Chris Chan is a story with no heroes
I always said that the story of Chris Chan is a story where nobody wins. Not even you, the person, watching it.
The Captain, I thought, was trying to genuinely help him. But at that point Chris was too far gone. Poor bastard.

As someone who's never heard of Chris Chan, I thought this'd be another Chris Broad episode.

Of all the sagas, the Sonic Boom protest is my favorite because pretty much no trolls were involved in it and it was just Chris being his own worst enemy and raging over Sonic The Hedgehog's arm color.
Yet, they were strangely quiet when they changed the colour of Tomatopotomous’ legs
@@caldog619 Which is quite strange, considering how all the other Tomatopotamus fans mass boycotted the game over that.

Early internet was wild. If you go really far back, you can find a lot of insane individuals that do insane shit like Chris, albeit not as well documented. As abhorrent as Chris' actions sound, they're pretty tame in comparison to some shit that were going around at that time (early 2000s until 2014/15)
1:07:44 "It seemed ok" I'm sorry I think Chris has broken this poor man.
I don't know how someone can study Chris for this long without going mad. The only conclusion I can draw is that he has gone mad 🤔
i mean he barely talks about himself and clearly seems uncomfortable in the camera compared to other guest
Does Chris chan have a moral Compass
Judging by his eye brows' expression, he seems to be a bit stressed discussing this topic (literally who wouldn’t be, the whole Christ-chan story is traumatizing).
@@anustubhmishra i think that could be because the bois are strangers to him and he is sitting there in front of a camera for three hours talking about such a disturbing topic. Most other guests were more familiar with joey, garnt and connor beforehand and they weren't talking about dark stuff like this.
yeah he seems mega weird to hang around with, total cold lol
After watching the entire documentary many, many times, I am completely convinced that even without the trolls Chris was destined to be a bad person. There are so many examples of him doing completely inexcusable things without the involvement of any trolls, i.e his harassment of Megan, him wishing death upon Adam Stackhouse, him saying he should sexually assault his church councilor, him running over Michael Snyder, etc. The trolls are without a doubt responsible for his completely fucked view of reality, but that doesn't change the fact that Chris has always been a bad person.
Holy shit thats fucked up. I guess its time to watch the series
(and in the past time mental illness wasn't as treated as good as now, well... currently mental illness still a have some stigmas and is still treated somewhat poorly, but I think you get where I'm getting at)
For some people it's really hard to know right from wrong and know when you have crossed over the line, but if there might have been someone who could watch Chris, regulate his behavior and know how to deal with it/them, then most of this probably wouldn't have happened as it did.
The trolls were just fuel to the fire. Chris is a massive ass-hat even before he was discovered.
