Thanks to your grandfather and through you, Shawn; I've had an epiphany, and am now spending as much time as I can filling my little dash with all the love I can find. Thank You.
This performance reminds me of a trick that my grand father used to do for me and my siblings when we were kids. He would take a match, burn it, blow it and with the smokes make an invisible but very strong thread. he would then roll the thread around the head of the match, and pull it. The decapitated match was the proof of the thread's existence to our eyes. I have been practising card and coin sleights every day for almost 8 years now, getting obsessed about perfecting the s. gordon double lift, making a better pass, doing a two foot muscle pass... But this is probably the best piece of magic I have ever seen.

this man is my hero, i met shawn many years ago and will never forget it. and this will be the first trick i teach my daughter. awesome routine. this is what magic is all about, making that emotional connection. a true canadian hero.

I'm not Shawn, but I'm learning a lot myself. Three best things I ever did: Cruised my used book store for books on magic (anything by Braue is good), got a copy of a dvd for street magic (message me if you want the name), and I bought a deck of cards and just practiced wherever I went. I'd practice shuffling and one-handed card cuts walking to work, and delighted my co-workers with the few tricks I learned. But the books are huge, I can give you some titles as well if ya like.
i keep forgetting how far back i have gone and saying things like i know how this is done but then realise i didn't know this back in 2007 and i so wish i had seen this back then :) i'm now in 2021 and watching all your stuff thanks shawn ::)

My master, Mathew Van Zee, used to close shows with this piece from time to time (different story though, of course). It's always struck me as a touching and intimate way to end a show, and with all the crap that goes on today to tear at friends and family, this never fails to strike a positive chord. This guy is simply genial! PURE skill perfectly balanced with a magnetic personallity... in other words... the perfect illusionist! I just hope he didn't came to a stop due to the lack of support, because if that was the cause then it means that illusionism is trully comming to an end as many claim... the art that has been entertaining us for dozens of centuries. Hey Shawn, just bought a block of glass from CT U.S. if you remember. It works great, but just one suggestion, don't give away the trick in the kit! That's a trick people should figure out for themselves because it's so good.
What's so impressive to me is that you have the story telling capabilities of David Copperfield but with pure close-up magic. It's an amazing combination.

Shawn, i really loved the part with the dash...interestingly i first heard that from a solo guitarist Bumblefoot (now playing with guns n roses) who did a song called "Dash"...the lyrics really are great and just thought i'd let you know ;) (even if you aren't a fan of the music)
