So glad I found this! There's so very little content and lessons for basses, and I'm happy to see Jeff dedicating some of his time for us low singers! Thank you so much!
After a couple years of using these videos to adjust to my voice change (from Soprano 2 to Bass-baritone), I just auditioned for the local choir and I was accepted! Thank you so much for these videos; they helped me tremendously.
the palette cleanser was exactly what I needed at the end. I just found your channel this week and have been loving your warmups, this was one was really comprehensive
Had fun with this. Decently long as well. My (lyric) bass struggled a bit with the higher parts, but that is part of the learning curve, I presume. With your help my voice didn't get too tired. I managed to practice the higher parts without too much strain. Happy!
You have an impressive catalog. It's pretty sweet that I can do a baritone warm up of yours for 15 days without repeating the same one. Keeps em fresh.
Love this, Jeff. Just found it even though it's a year and a half old. So happy you threw in the exercise at 38:00. Nice to have that long range that moves across registers. Also, thanks for dropping down to C2!!!
This really got my C2 going! I need to work on my upper range - I can achieve all of the notes (without using falsetto) but it's not yet consistent. I probably can't do this one every day, but it's a good one to at least tackle once or twice a week I think. Many thanks!
Jeff thanks so much!! I’ve been using your videos since the beginning of quarantine. I played dozens of gigs with my band, and my voice was starting to strain and weaken. After finding your vocal warmups so much changed. I recorded an entire album, and am feeling improvement daily. Thanks for helping me build my voice back up! :)
Alright Jeff... You've got me lightheaded here, thisone is a total workout. But seriously thank you so much, I indeed was hoping for a long 45-60min workout. This made my day :)
Loving all your baritone/Bass Baritone work Jeff. Many thanks. Could you please pretty please do just even one practice lower...not sure if I'm exactly Basso Profundo but my local church has liked what I bring to the choir singing VERY low
Jeff thank you very much for that vocal warm up and recognition that there are deep voices out there I loved it it work me out but I loved it but now tell me how I can find you on patreon so that I can go ahead and join with you there and I still want to have private practice with you as much as I can I know I'm overseas but there's got to be a way to do it so if you would hook me up your friend Clarance
Hello Clarance! Are you the same Clarance that I recently shared some email with? If not, here's the Patreon link just in case: www.patreon.com/jeffrolka All the best! Jeff
I used to sing in a 99% girl choir and was used to sing as high as or higher as the girls now after voice drop I'm having to rediscover my voice in baritone the upper is lacking the lowers are not stable but working on it and finding my new voice
One last thing what are the best things to do after your throat gets tired and what is the best thing to do as far as drinking something for it so that it doesn't get raspy
What was the highest note used in the A-E-I-O-U oooooooooooooo Warm-up at aroundc34:44? I was able to hit second to last part of the exercise. I want to see how much range I have before my voice just straight gives out and I have to go into SUPER FALSSETTO.
Amazing lesson once again Jeff !! You talk about vowel modifications when crossing the Secundo (or is it Segundo) Passagio. Do you have any lesson that cover what this specifically means in more detail?
Sure! ruclips.net/video/JlVADXX6T9k/видео.html ruclips.net/video/apfQ3OLVjao/видео.html ruclips.net/video/b1sOH-A7XK0/видео.html I hope that helps! Jeff
The Rossini scale is a great one - it's an octave and a fifth. I feel like I played that in this video but maybe not. Pretty sure I did in the soprano version (coming out on 7 Dec.) You could sing it down an octave (or two!)
Exercises that challenge us or feel intense offer us insight into how efficiently we're using our voices. If it seems really intense, see if you can identify any specifics? Is it one particular vowel change or something else? Is it the speed of the exercise or just note duration? Identifying the challenge gives us the opportunity to address it directly. That's how we make progress! Great question! Jeff
@@JeffRolka Hi Jeff!! Thanks for the reply! I don't really have any issues with vowels in that range, the airflow makes them easy for me. I think it's the duration of that whole section, after the lip trill I start full of energy but sustaining so many vowels near the pesaggio is tough! I just wanted to know if it's normal to find that area challenging in its length. Btw I love your videos and your energy, it has helped me incredibly!
Thanks! Needed a longer workout (sound like a gym rat here). Practicing with a choir, my voice is limited especially at the passagio (got that right?). Anyway will stick with it, and hope for the best.
Also if you would be kind enough to explain some of the terminology that you're using I've singing a lot of choirs before but the terminology to just speaking up I haven't really heard very much I've even my calls choir
Hey Jeff, do you have any kind of polish roots probably? ( just wondering, cause your surname doesn't sound very much british hah, and it sounds like polish one :D) Another very helpful and informative video, thanks for that!! Cheers! :D
A question I've always wanted to ask regarding most lesson, regarding the higher stuff usually. Is it ok to sing them a little quieter and then build up the volume, as long as the engagement etc is still good?
It depends on how you're doing it and the tone quality. Quiet with adduction is alright, quiet with abduction probably won't work. Individual differences however can mean that for some, it might work out quite well. Best! Jeff

Ive been coming to this video for 4 full years. ❤ you Mr Rolka.
Thanks for the love to the baritones! ♥️
Thanks so much for these! They save my voice every Sunday morning as I drive to church to direct choir! Love it all!
My favorite baritone warmup you've done so far! Thanks for giving us one of such length and so comprehensive. This is great.
Thank you!
I'm a tenor and this is a great warmup. When it's too low, I stop or jump up an octave. It helps to stretch my voice. Thanks Jeff!

Thank you for the help Mr. Rolka, my cousin is a baritone and she'll definitely be able to hit her dream notes with these exercises.
Thank you Jeff Maestro!!!

What an excellent exercise . Thanks Jeff.

F2-G4 i’m Baritone o bass-Baritone??
could some one give me the time stamps to the bass parts?
What the Fach!
The dreaded secundo passagio.
does the larynx always have to be lowered while singing/warming up? or is it okay if it’s neutral?
Neutral is good - in general - which is to say depending on what you're singing that generality may be false. It works well for nearly all popular song forms.
