- Basic Training Video for Echo Company, 2nd Battalion, 13th Infantry, 1st Training Brigade, Fort Jackson, South Carolina
September - November 1992
This is a VIDEORAMA Production. VIDEORAMA is a part of the Morale, Welfare, and Recreation Division of Fort Jackson. fortjacksonmwr....
This is one of many VHS tapes I have that I'm digitizing and though it was 22 years ago, I still felt a little anxiety seeing my old Drill Sergeants. The video isn't great, and the music/narration is a little cheesy, but for what it was at the time it was pretty cool. I hope someone from my old basic training unit stumbles on this and has a chuckle. Enjoy!
Ahhh when basic training was really basic training.... my drill sgt. Smoked me and introduced me to muscle Beach.... and put hands on me... but I never had an issue with it... he was making me the best soldier possible in his eyes...I am the man i am today because of it... nothing can stop me and nor will i succumb to the way the world is today... I'm too squared away.
This feels more like 1985 than 1992. The music is simply classic.

Thanks for posting this.
I never thought i would see this again.
I don't know why the Army ever got rid of the plastic earplug cases as part of the uniform. Nothing strikes fear into the hearts of the enemy like a soldier who's always prepared to get prepared for loud noises.
If the video is an accurate depiction of Ft. Jackson, the rumors were true. That was a candy ass Basic Training, nothing like the aggressive tough Ft. Leonard Wood or Benning.
I was leonardwood in 1996
