Worst shoes were
1. Curry 5- bad traction and no cushion
2. Kobe Nxt 360- traction never
worked for me
3. Jump man hustle- traction was very inconsistent (may have been the colorway-infared)

hyperrev 2016 these are my go to's because they are just working really well for me all around.
flyknit hyperdunk 2016 I really loved playing in these but I had some heel containment issues and the translucent outsole started ripping.
To me, Jordan Pure Plus back in 2002 was my all-time best basketball shoes all the time. Light, cushioned and traction is BEAST~!!!!!!!

Rose shoes never been that great...i tried to hoop in the rose3 after hooping in the jordan 29 for some years n those rose3 felt like bricks

Rico Kicks 7 was really fun. Probably my favorite because the boost on the 6 was too much for me. The 7 was a little firmer I liked it a lot
Rico Kicks the Rose 3 was one of if not the best performer for its time the 29 came out a chunk of time after The other earlier Rose shoes were just made to be light and have good grip thats what they usually hit
Second year in a row that I have one of the shoes that was tied for the best of the year 💪🏻 Believe it or not I always look forward to this video as an early Christmas present. I think it’s pretty cool to look back and see what the brands did right, what they did wrong and how they could improve in the following year. They should be watching this and learning! My favorite shoe was the Kobe 1 Protro, hands down. They literally saved these 40-year old knees and kept me on the court, while taking me back to the good ol' days when basketball shoes were made of leather that got better with age and wear.
If you want good knees, get the LeBron 16. I just got them 2 weeks ago and they play like a beast. And the cushion is so good. Honestly I got the protros first, I didn't like them too much and then got the LeBrons. SO good
I know it sounds wierd but also being in my 40s and playing, the kobe nxt 360s cushion is very nice, I was skeptical until i played in them.

Kobe 1 Protro. This shoe has it all. I play different sorts of positions in a game depending on who I play with and this shoe adjusts the way I like it. A little heavy but it doesn't matter at all because of the way it performs. Great year @nightwing2303. I look forward to what you bring in 2019.

Personally I’m gonna have to give it to the Why Not Zer0.1 I have the UNC colourway of those and man oh man they are beautiful aesthetically and performance wise. I’m a sucker for the UNC colourways 😂
Bought the Zer0.1s also after seeing the review, they play really well but my regular sized of 10.5 was just too tight, heck I started having muscle cramps on my feet until I went a size larger, wonder if it had to do with all the cushion idk... either way legit shoe once u g8rt the size down.

And I typically like your opinion about kobe 1 protro. Basketball shoes are supposed to be something like that especially e use of carbon plate at the bottom. I just love it and it reminds me of my early day a lot. Again great video! Thanks a lot! Enjoy the christmas!

For me Chris, I stocked up with the PG1 (thank god). I haven’t touched another shoe since the PG1. Everything about the shoe works for me on court, only think I wish would change is better heel cushioning.
Always anticipate these videos!!! Every single year. Favorite shoe of the year is probably the Kobe AD next 360. I literally forget I have anything on my feet in those, I agree they need to be more durable for 200 bucks. Soldier 12 is right behind that once I learned how to tuck the strap. These vids are Dope as always 🙌🏽🙌🏽.
I got two Harden 3s on a 30% off discount on a site here in the Philippines. One is for use and one is for keeps. When I played in both the Kobe 5 and 6 back in the day, I played in both those shoes until they were more than past their optimal usage (my Kobe 5's upper ripped on me while playing in them and my Kobe 6's traction were almost smooth already). I regretted not buying pairs for keeps or for future playing use even when pairs were showing up on outlet stores that time. But I won't make that mistake again. The Kobe 5 comparison is very accurate. Great ending to a great year for shoes :) Cheers mate!
You should’ve reviewed the Nike Air Maestro 2 Trifecta. The materials are good as is the craftsmanship. True to size and they hug your feet. Plus they’re one of the dopest retros of the year.

Awesome work this year Nightwing! Your reviews were invaluable in helping me choose a bball shoe! Just one suggestion- when you go through the different shoes it would be great if you put the name of the shoe up on the screen, sometimes it's hard to catch the name of a shoe, especially if I'm unfamiliar with it.
Kobe 1 Protro is my current go to, and I don't see that changing for a while. Super comfortable, traction is great, durable af. It's almost like having 2 pairs since you can play indoors AND outdoors in them. Plan on grabbing a pair of Hovr Havocs soon.

I was contemplating about buying the Kyrie 5 but since you have given positive comments about this shoe, i can’t wait to get my hands on them and wear them. I’ve always liked the Kyrie shoes ever since and fits my feet really well.
I'm still recovering from an ankle ligament surgery, but Nightwing's reviews and vids just make me want to cop more of them dang shoes!!!!

Man the Protros ruined other shoes for me. I dont ever wanna buy a different pair of shoes again because of how good those are. But i also really like looking for new stuff to try on and wear. *internal conflict intensifies*

@@Deimos_the_Autist you need it! If you play basketball on the regular you need it, if you dont and just wanna wear it casually you dont need it as much but youll want it. Full length zoom is magic

Really enjoy your perspective nw. Laced up my NXT 360s (I’m a small, quick footwork guard) and after probably 5-10 hours of gameplay, the little nubs are already breaking off. Really didn’t expect to see THAT kind of poor durability. Looking forward to grabbing the Kyrie 5s tho

personally the kobe protro is the best of 2018. I know that nw always say that it is how shoes should be made and that is 100% correct. Looking forward to 2019 with the kobe 4 protro and excited for the 10 yrs of nightwing and weartesting.

I’ve been playing in the RW Why Not 0 Chaos (shroudless) for the last week now and I’ve been having so much fun in them. I played in the PG2 mostly through this year and I loved that shoe so much. However, full length zoom, amazing stability, and a fit that is not as limited as its original design make the new RW shoe so great to play in. It's quickly become my go-to shoe, and my favorite of the year.
I'm really eyeing the Kobe AD NXT 360 all thanks to your reviews. I'd like to play fast on my shoes which is why I'm looking forward to buying one for myself with discounts this Christmas. BUT I wouldn't mind getting the ProTro 1s too because of performance aspects. Thanks so much for being informative to all our future purchases!
Favorite shoe of the year for me has to be the Why Not 0.1. It’s got great traction, cushion, fits good, lockdown is great and the support is amazing especially since I’ve been struggling with ankle injuries.

Favorite hoop shoes for the year are the Adidas Pro Bounce. Not expensive. No gimmicks. Lightweight yet sturdy. No containment issues on hard lateral movements like what I get with all these newer flyknit type uppers. Good cushion which I feel a lot of shoes are getting away from for the gain of court feel. The traction is awesome no matter the court. I want to get the kt4 but the all knit upper kills it for me.
The Why Not 0.1 because of the bulkiness and the superior lockdown. The sneakers just feels balance for me. It was the first time I felt full length zoom. Waiting for the chaos release.
Why not zero.1 for me. Lockdown is unreal, cushion (once broken in) is awesome but still have court feel. For a guy that plays a few different positions, can’t beat this shoe, it’s just an overall beast. Was disappointed the PG2 didn’t hold on, but understandable with what made the list. Need to try the protro and the harden 3 to compare em to the why not’s, see if they can knock em out.
Another shoe that i've fell in love with, is the Kyrie 4, i decided to cop when i saw your video of the top shoes of 2017, and they're amazing, but they have the same issue than the soldier 12's, the traction doesn't last on the black top, and i'm not a dude that can be buying a pair every 2 months
I wish i could afford a pair of Kobe 1 protros or lebron 16's, they seem like they're tanks

My favorites from this year has to be either the jordan why not 0.1 or puma clyde courts. The Jordan’s literally have no flaws imo and the pumas are so good to look at while being a solid shoe to play in. Keep up the great work @nightwing2303. Been following since 2011-12ish and have always enjoyed the quality information every time.
Thank you, Chris. My favorite shoe this year is the Kobe nxt 360. It is one of the lightest shoes I have ever played in. I feel the traction is great, and the fit is fantastic! Lost some nubs yet it doesn't effect the traction as much as I thought it would. Need to give the Harden 3s a try after your review. Being an older Hooper I cant play in Kyries or anything with a lack of cushion.

I saw your video on the curry 5's where you said you couldnt play in them, i thought maybe just maybe it would fit different for me. Im a huge curry fan and love the way his shoes looks(except the 3's) and to my surprise i stumbled into a pair thats my size(10.5) on a shelf in a mall near our place. (I live in the Philippines and signature shoes dont last long on shelves here. Especially my size.) I tried it out and walked around the store with them. Felt weird with my true size so i went up half a size cuz they were available still felt the same. So i went back to my true size and then lo and behold i felt what you described. The line on the side of the shoe dug on my foot. It was unbearable even by just walking with it. Soo disappointed man. Like, i love curry but his shoes need work man. If it wasnt for your review i wouldve been an impulsive fan boy and bought it after a brief try on.
I got the harden vol.3s instead fit like a glove on my foot. Cant wait to play on them since i heard a lot of good stuff from you on them. BTW it was the last pair in my size so got lucky. Even though the hardens didnt have much ad placements and commercial like the others.

thanks for the recommedation! went to buy the kyrie 5 today but they were too tight on me even though i went with 1 size larger. ended up getting the harden vol 3 and love them. love the cushion and didn't have problems fitting. i went true to size. Kobe AD NXT 360 for my MVP of 2018. Traction is A1 in or outdoor. Fit is great once you break it in.

Cushion is important to me, so I love the LeBron 16’s. I might actually pick up the Hardens also. The Kobe 360’s were very fun to play in mainly cause of how fast I felt in them
Because of you I got the Kyrie 5. I play big man but I don’t need the cushion and it goes so well with my play style

I have an extremely narrow foot and these are the best fitting b-ball shoes I’ve ever had. I’m a fast, skinny guard and the weight and cushion are perfect for me. Second fav of all time- to Kobe 6
Best shoe I played with this year has to be the BYW LVL X. Not only do I love the design of the shoe, i also love the lvl 1 but being able to hoop in them was amazing. I really enjoyed the boost and the lacing system was nice. Overall. Best shoe for basketball I've played in.

Favorite shoe I hooped in this year is a tie between the PG2 and the Dame 4. The PG2 kept me locked in on the footbed and the cushion underneath the forefoot just felt amazing to me. The Dame 4, that shoe just feels good to me, nice and snug. Only thing I didn't like about the dame 4 was how hard it was to put on. Other than that, bounce cushioning man -I might like bounce more than I like boost

Congrats on another big year bro. Amidst all the youtuber "Best of" lists, yours is the best hands down. Always something to look forward to as the year is almost over. As the huge fan that I am, i'm embarrassed to say I haven't played in any of these YET lol I mean i'm still playing in the Kobe 4, 5 and 11? Lol. But there are so many options now it's crazy. As a big Kobe line fan I feel like I have to get the 360's just because of how unique it is. I'll grab the Chaos once those go on sale and same goes for the Kyries and Hardens. The PG1 and PG2/2.5 are still what I play in. They fit my feet well and are stable, traction works fine. Because of the fit they just feel and play fast. I also have 1 pair of Kobe 9 that i rotate in. I will most likely pick up the lebron 16 just for days I want the cushion, but even for dunk sessions the pg1/2 dont hurt my knees at all.
I played in the 2018 Concords a couple weeks ago, they are phenomenal. The cushion has that bounce to it that I enjoy. Its amazing to me that a 23 year old shoe design holds up today quite well on court

I've been wearing the Harden Vol.1 bhm, Nike Zoom shift team issue, Peak street ball master, Anta KT2 outdoor low, 361 lonely master, Adidas explosive bounce 2017, Adidas crazy explosive 2017 and my "game" shoe of choice since way back in summer league is Nike Hyperquickness 3 2015 (cousin of the hyper rev 2015). I just stocked up on 5 pairs of university red team issue color way. Some I purchased new in 2015 and some I have purchased new in box on eBay. I play for a travel team and am hooping year round...so I'm usually rotating shoes. The Hyperquickness 3 though is a great shoe for my preferences..glad I have several pairs..2 of which are dead stock atm. I've had a lot of success wearing this specific model shoe and the price is great so it's always a GO for me. Zoom air in heel and forefoot + top level lockdown with great traction. Right now all my other listed shoes are worn in practice/training..
I like the kyrie 5, now idk how the hardens perform but I have the kyrie 5s and I love feeling the full length zoom in the forefoot and I like the price at only 130 and I like the traction, I play in dusty courts and it doesn’t get affected the traction is still amazing, and I recently rolled my ankle and the support that the shoe has helps my ankle in a way
