Add Instant Replay to Your ATEM Mini Pro Livestream

- Playing back a highlight during a live broadcast has become ubiquitous during sports broadcasts. Unfortunately, the ATEM Mini Pro does not offer this feature.
Forcing many ATEM owners to decide whether or not they should add expensive hardware solutions like the Roland P-20HD or abandon the ATEM altogether and opt for a software-based streaming solution.
Thankfully with a little time and ingenuity, you can add basic replay to your live stream.

Another stellar installment of CCR!!!
[Late response becasue I didn't need this before] This is a great and simple way of adding this feature to a setup. Thankyou very much for sharing this. I've implemented this in a slightly different way so you can record the broadcast through USB-C. I've added two components: An extra laptop and NDI. The main computer is recording in OBS as usual. And at the same time it's sending out the program-feed with NDI over the network. My "replay laptop" can receive the NDI-signal in OBS running on that. And on the replay laptop I've added your replay-tutorial. The replay-laptop than sends out the replay trough the HDMI-port and you have a modular replay-system that can be added to almost any situation where there's a free HDMI-port on a switcher 🙂 Hope this helps anyone that's reading this.
This is amazing. Thanks for sharing and the kind words.
Great video man, super clear and well illustrated.. thank you 🙏🏽
Great stuff man! Will have to try it!
This channel is under rated! Good job!
🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
demonstrated with such positive energy! your videos joyful and informative. thank you
🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Is this possible with out el gato stream deck ? Only laptop and atem mini pro
Great channel! Thanks bro
Thank you for watching and the kind words.
Felicidades H 👍🥇🥰
Great video as per usual. Was curious if is there is a way one can stream to Twitch with the Atem and be able to do some of the things that streamers do with OBS or Stream Labs, like showing the chat on screen, or showing the bits, or showing when someone subs and things like that?
Great questions. I’ve been starting to play around with some of those features you mentioned and as soon as I figure it out I will be posting my findings.
@@CreateConsumeRepeat Awesome! I just recently started streaming in Twitch, and loving it. Find that for now is the only real advantage of using something like Stream Labs, because otherwise I love my streaming setup with the Atem and its reliabilty of being hardware as you have said before 👍🏽
Awesome stuff.
Thank You 🙏🏼
Hi I am using an Atem Mini into my Atem Mini pro on input four, effectively giving me options for a further three cameras, can I use the above instant replay system on the Atem Mini into the mini pro hdmi input 4 to allow me to do live instant sports replays. Both units have the usb c output but I do need to record the live stream in full as well. Any help would be gratefully accepted
I can’t speak to your specific setup but if you follow the tutorial you will have basic instant replay.
Atem ISO extreme has 2 usb outputs for hard drive recording, that cures the drawback mentioned at the end correct?
Correct.
How many switchers are you using, one or two? One for broadcast and the other for instant reply? From where you are taking input to obs?,if you take usb-c out to OBS Studio and gave hdmi out to same atem its become a video loop?Isn't it..?
I am using one switcher (ATEM Mini Pro). As for the loop question, correct. If you implement this technique you should not switch to the input your computer is recording until you switch OBS to playback of the instant replay. If you do switch to that input while recording you will create a crazy distorted video loop.
Would this work when not live streaming also? I use my Atem Mini Pro for my local high school football games and broadcast to the Jumbotron. I’m wanting to do instant replays to the Jumbotron
It would totally work. I would recommend testing out before a live game and please keep in mind this is a hack.
What i miss is the option to change speed. For a real replay you need to slow it down. Is that possible with this option?
Not that I am aware of.
Hello nice video. Do you have a video how to show a picture of the host in a small box while showing my screen?
Thanks for the compliment. I would check out this video @ the 6:20 mark: ruclips.net/video/yJ5c3i8R7s0/видео.html
dayum amazing sire! just wondering what should I do, if I were to add a stinger transition in middle
If you have a Studio HD Plus it should be a breeze. I would check out my video on the Studio HD plus for detailed instructions. If you are planning to run a stinger off of OBS you will not be able to do so since OBS is being used to record and playback the instant replay.
@@CreateConsumeRepeat Thank you!
can we stream at 20000 bitrate to youtube with atem mini pro ?
I use the ATEM Mini pro to stream and OBS to record and playback the instant replay.
Not to mention also
making 1 for slow mo and 1 for normal.
Thanks so much! How to do slow motion instant replay, btw?
Interesting question. Let me play around and see if I can figure it out.
@@CreateConsumeRepeat Set framerate to 60fps and change playback speed :P
I don’t believe it is that simple since you would have to set your livestream to 60fps. I guess if you are cool with then it might work as long as OBS is set to 30fps. Worth a try.
I just purchased an ATEM Mini Pro ISO and have all the other hardware (with a few exceptions). My question is where can I find your diagram for download. BTW I like your energy and informative content keep it up!

Will the atem mini do this as well?
No since the ATEM Mini uses OBS to stream. The ATEM Mini Pro, ISO and Extreme are streaming using hardware to stream.
I would like to broadcast live sports (football, cricket, etc) on RUclips. There will be multiple cameras, commentary, live graphics, advertisement blocks. Which ATEM product do you recommend?
Generally speaking, ATEM SDI Extreme ISO
@@CreateConsumeRepeat Can it steam HD 1080p?
Absolutely. If you decide to go with my recommend you will have to ensure your cameras have SDI outputs. This will ensure long cable runs. HDMI will be limiting for football since you will probably have camera positioned at different locations around the field.
Couldn't this technically all be done in Companion without streamdeck macros or OBS hotkeys?
Totes but setting up Companion to trigger OBS can be a little tricky so I tried to keep this as “easy” as possible.
How to add stinger transition to OBS.

Who are u streaming ?
I stream on Twitch but haven’t been on in a while due to work and this RUclips channel.

i think mkv would be better.
It lets you saves you file even on an unexpected crash.
U can always remux it back to mp4 afterwards
(New update : you can toggle autuo remux after recording saved)
I’ll look into it. Thanks for the tip.
@@CreateConsumeRepeat actually a newer ver will hv fragmented mp4
But its still in beta
Ah so it uses OBS. At this point I am thinking better to use OBS for everything and sell my ATEM mini pro ISO, the only thing stopping me is there isn't an elegant way to do ISO recording with OBS.
Before making the leap I would watch my review of the ATEM Mini Pro. I have a whole section devoted to the shortcomings of a pure OBS setup. ruclips.net/video/agkKnwFXqIM/видео.html
Dudeee you saved my entire company. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR IDEA.. THE YOLOBOX PRO WILL CRUSH THIS METHOD!!
GREAT video, good work!
Glad I could help you out. Just keep in mind it is a work around and you should def. test it out before your shoot.
@@CreateConsumeRepeat The good thing is, the Yolobox has instant replay built-in... But only saves the last replay. I can use OBS to capture the various instances, probably play back ALL after a sporting event as a highlight showing..
I used this iOS App Hyperslow
Details please.
vmix
I was unaware VMix offered this feature. If indeed it offers instant replay this would be another solid software based alternative. Sadly, it isn’t free like other software solutions.
@@CreateConsumeRepeat vmix offers a 60-day trial version for review. Repeats up to 8 cameras. Subject to the availability of a video capture card. China offers inexpensive versions for 4 camera, both hdmi and SDI. In any case, the vMix price is cheaper than any repeat machine.
Is this possible with out el gato stream deck ? Only laptop and atem mini pro
Probably not.
