    I would love to see a game at MSG.. not because I am a Rangers fan.. just because it’s MSG

      That's the problem I'm from NY and after they put a BILLION in renovations its very underwhelming. Go by the arena not the history or that its in Manhattan the arena itself is just ok and disappointing

    You should mention who Tex (Rickard) is. The Penn RR sold the 'air rights' to developers, the Penn Station property was still owned the RR even though the site
    was a financial drain on the company. If this hadn't happened, MSG could have been stuck at the 49th St location and perhaps ended up in a West End RR yard.
    Wasn't 'wear and tear' that prompted the reno, it was $$$'s and adding far more pricey ways to get dollars from corporate and individual customers.
    As far as 'history', 3 championship teams since 1968 51 years - not many. Only because it's in midtown does the 'aura' persist.
    It only the politicians who don't get campaign $$$'s from the Dolan family who want them off the property by squeezing them on tax credits.
    The 'new Penn' plan is an over-priced boondoggle (like the LIRR east side connection') that will fleece NYC/NYS taxpayers for generations to come.
    MTA is billions in debt and this would make it worse.

      All good points. Yeah, there’s so much history in this place it’s too much to squeeze in my video. It has a checkered past for sure, there’s lots of rinks that have this type of corporate greed and corruption. I don’t get into the social issues regarding building hockey rinks (private/public, eminent domain etc), it will be a video coming down the line though. As a father of four children, a new hospital/School trumps a sports arena any day.

    A $1B renovation seems like a rather expensive "interim" solution if a new arena might be later be required. !?

    This MSG is never going to be demolished because it's a historic landmark that's naned after our president just as the Seattle arena and its historical roof? Its not going nowhere

    • @_TheRinks
      @_TheRinks  4 года назад

      God I hope not! I really love that place. But it sounds like plans are already taking place. They have locations picked out and plans in place. Time will tell I guess.

    • @darryljorden9177
      @darryljorden9177 4 года назад

      Well, technically, the original arena was named after its location on Madison Square (near 23rd Street). And, yes, the irony is that the building whose construction gave rise to the landmarks commission could end up being saved by it. There are fewer and fewer people who remember old Penn Station and still harbor bitterness towards the building that replaced it.
      "One entered the city like a god. One scuttles in now like a rat". Architectural historian Vincent Scully commenting on old Pennsylvania Station and its replacement.

    •  4 года назад

      @@darryljorden9177 but its named after the president before because there was an original location far as last name

    James Dolan will not move MSG. Penn Station made be run down but its not as important to the people of nyc as MSG believe me.
