Just realised this is what I am going through. Just survived cancer, just decided to work again, found a job in a different country, husband stayed behind in our home .... luckily he supports me, we talk every day, I love my new job, just became a head teacher ... my life changed so much that ... it is incredible. Lost friends during cancer, gained new ones ... you have now explained me some things. Thank you so much. God bless you.
Very interesting points. I have noticed that friends that I used to go shopping with have now distanced themselves from me because I have been buying less these past few years. I am not a minimalist but I don’t find much joy from retail therapy these days. I have been more focused on self care and saving for travel in the future and nature walks are a favorite past time. I don’t have much in common with some of the people I used to hang out with. I also discovered I had some fair weather friends who were not there for me when I had a medical issue in 2019. I do have a tiny group of “true friends” and I am truly grateful for them. You are right, in this journey of life, I have discovered there are pitfalls to everything. I throughly enjoyed this helpful video. 🙂
But isn't it the purpose of it? To grow more mature and be more self-aware? I guess the danger is being stuck in the same old perspective that we learned in the past to which entangles us from really maturing and thriving as a person. Being open to other perspectives does not neccessarily mean that we are to follow and accept that kind of belief or system. I guess we can be neutral about these things and look at it as trying on some lenses but still keeping our values and other principles in tact. We should develop our "non-negotiables" first before diving in other perspectives so that we can assess what is right path for us to follow.
I agree. And yes, the purpose is to grow, mature and be more self aware - but there’s difficulties and ‘costs’ to be aware of on that journey. Hope you’re doing well
