“Even in the depths of hell, blooms a beautiful flower of friendship, leaving its petals as mementos. Perhaps, if we could weave the threads of trust and determination into a rope of friendship, then that rope can be used to hoist us up into the heavens.” - Usopp from One Piece
I love this episode that I cried at the end. Good for Miyo for growing stronger, so proud. And Kiyoka knows how to make an entrance like the hero he is.
This week's episode was spectacular indeed! Both fight scenes were equally showstoppers! Kiyoka's gallant rescue was a sight to behold! And Miyo's show of courage by finally standing her ground against her foes was just... just so heartening to watch... one just can't help but cheer for her! And when Kiyoka finally saw her state of being... I was wishing that he'd do something... ANYTHING! To the villainous mother-daughter duo for even daring to touch our beloved Miyo!!
I also wanted him to strike them down or something, it would have been SO satisfying, but another part of me is saying that it would be OOC for him to have done something like that. I hope he does mete out justice in some other way, though, and knowing his connections I'm sure he'll be totally able to.
He told Kaya he would never marry her, and her mother was already watching her house burn. That was punishment. For now... Also, by leaving them alone at this point they'll still be around for Miyo to mete out her own justice some point down the line when her confidence is up another notch.
Miyo's stepmother used physical attacks and Kiya used psychological attacks. That's what worked for each in the past. Kiya just didn't know what to do when it wouldn't work and in the anime lost her temper and resorted to choking. The anime leaves a lot of confusion on just how her father feels about her. I do like Koji, but sheesh, can't believe he thought about killing Miya to end her suffering... glad that was left out.
As for why Kouji's dark monologue was scrapped from the anime.. I have 2 theories about that. 1) it was the producer's act of censorship. Maybe they thought those kinds of thoughts might be too dark for their target audience. 2) The producers think so little of Kouji that they don't want to waste unnecessary seconds just for his lame monologue 😂
Great summary! I did like the direction of this episode. Kaya character was exposed for the spoiled jealous hyena that she was. By the way those a reflection of her Mother’s teachings. In the end they have nothing that includes their reputations.
This episode definitely surprises me, didn’t expect a proper fight scene. It was beautifully animated, kinda wish that it would be more common to see fight scenes that are primarily targeted toward a female audience, but maybe that would be a bad call (not my place to decide/and theirs already enough other shows, maybe they should just improve romance) I kinda expect that Mio has a curse placed on her since she has those weird dreams, sure normally I would just assume trauma but somehow the way it’s shown it feels a bit of. And considering how valuable her blood apparently is, I can’t how she’s actually extremely powerful (not that she has to be, but do expect that some major plot points will happen around her mother/ancestors)…
Beautiful review! If this keeps up, The Chattering Magpi will probably convert me to this story, even though I resist. We will see how we end up. Look forward to next week's review.
@@TheChatteringMagpi You may just do that. But this episode was horrific. Spoilers do not bother me in the least. I have seen Hamlet many times, but I will not hesitate to see it again. A great work of art cannot be spoiled, at least for me. The Chattering Magpi reviews are excellent, and I enjoy your reporting and analysis very much. We will see at the end of this run of the story if you succeed!
That scream the bitch-mother makes when she see the fire is cathartic, bordering full on schadenfreude. Can't wait to see what they'll have to deal with going forward, but I doubt they'll just let this go lying down.
Considering the house is made of wood and paper, nobody seems to be able to wield water or ice. I am guessing it will all burn down. Construction crews will have some work for them. He was helping out the local economy. If true justice was served they would all be locked inside.
I was slightly disappointed that Miyo remained "damsel-ed" this episode. I understand it is a slow arc of her re-establishing her own self worth - but Kiyoka can't deliver the appropriate slap down to step-mother and step-sister without coming off looking a lesser man. As a non-reader I fully expect Miyo to have a hidden power that will explode out under stress in some later episode.
Fair! I think for someone who has barely started their character growth journey this was a small but decisive step. Yes, she had to be saved, as she has no powers of her own, but she accomplished the most important thing she had to do at this point: defy and refuse to be broken. I'm sure in future volumes (there's 4 translated so far) she'll be able to have a more proactive role. I also think she has some latent powers, let's see how they develop!
@@TheChatteringMagpi Honesty everything until Kudo finds her is off. It becomes better after that. Example, go to around 2:52 “You were really trying to get in your beauty rest”. They even had to speed trough the subtitles there.
It must take a lot for mio to not only face her fears but even going against it. That's true strength
So proud of Miyo standing up for herself this week.
Right?!? It was so wonderful!
@@TheChatteringMagpi Reminds on the Iranian women today who put off their scarfs even if the state treaten those women with death.
My favorite part is the last moment of the episode when Miyo smiles. She is becoming more comfortable in her smile.
Yes, that was so wonderful to see!!!

I know, there were so many emotions at play here. Wrath and joy and pain and fear.... So gooooood!!!

Kiyoka displays the classic calm samurai fighter - you keep the mind cool.
I hoped Koji would join them and leave his family - and later join the grotesk force. But he is not the man for it. He is stuck in the family.
Courage: The pink dog seen at cartoon network 🤣🤣🤣
Joke aside... Courage is when fear eats you up yet with will alone moves forward 😍👍
I'm glad someone could get the silly reference~
Also, yess!! that's a great definition of courage!!!

I didn't even notice!!! Oh my! Curious to know which parts you noticed this happening!
