Hey everyone! 👋 Thanks for tuning in! If you're excited about building stunning websites and landing pages, you won't want to miss my course, "From Figma to WordPress." learnfigmatowp.com/
Great video Paul. Comparison videos offer such great insights. Bricks is moving to V2.0 soon and similar videos comparing features of Elementor and Bricks would be appreciated by a lot of people I reckon. GJ.
That side by side comparison was super helpful! Bricks builder indeed would be an interesting tool for new projects (but migrating from Elementor to Bricks may be not so feasible).
Excellent demo mate. It seems that Bricks really is charging full speed ahead to become the powerhouse page builder, especially when it comes to native dynamic data components. Keep the tuts coming fella... #Bravo #YouDaMan #JediWisdom
Hi Paul. One of the biggest advantages that Bricks brings to the table is visibility. As soon as you start working with advanced custom fields, it is a feature that you will need to use at some point. Elementror has stayed behind competition since early 2021 when Oxygen released CSS Grid and never succeeded even coming back close to the competition. I mean even Gutenberg blocks have now visibility conditions.
Completely agree. Don’t like dependency of an additional plug-in for modern fundamental dynamic data options, beside the added cost. There some things that Elementor does well, but I am considering switching to Bricks or Breakdance for particular upcoming projects that require the flexibility you outlined. Thanks for another great vid 👍
But bricks missing many widgets i.e. form integration with activecampaign or mailerlite etc so anyway you need to develop it on your own or add cost to buy an additional plugin
I'm not sure what you're referring to. All dynamic content can have SEO applied to it and will be treated exactly the same as any other content on WordPress. All content is a custom post type in the eyes of WordPress.
Inside of Elementor, I find myself reliant on the Dynamic Data I can get using Gloo for Elementor. I am very used to Elementor. Letting it go completely for bricks for the sake of dynamic data may not be a good idea for me . But I'm also learning to use Bricks well
I think Bricks has a lot more to offer than just better handling of Dynamic Content. But, if you're used to Elementor and you get your work done efficiently, then I don't see a need to change anytime soon. :)
At the end Wordpress is a data-based CMS and having ACF (Pro) I appreciate the simpler way Bricks manages the dynamic fields. Unfortunately there's not a demo version of Bricks to test on a test environment using i.e. Local to test the speed and the server charge (requests and so on...) But, after using Elementor for years and knowing it bloats a lot the website, I'm really interested in moving to Bricks for future projects.
Bricks vs Cwicly please! 🙃 And which one would you recommend to a solo developer/designer, To create websites for clients so the clients can maintain their websites later on themselves easily without breaking 😔 (Alternatives are also welcome. I have Greenshift plugin in mind :)
The way Bricks builder handles Dynamic Data and query loops is the most important reason I switched to Bricks. Tried other builders but just couldn't like the that you build your query in a separate area
@@ARNBNDL you need a plugin like ACF or metabox to create custom post types, which then you can query as dynamic data using a query loop on the front end. very powerful. its a rabbit hole worth going down!
I've been using Elementor for a long time. I feel like the dynamic features are too hidden. Elementor's UX is a lot better than before... After watching the video today, I thought the UX on Bricks Builder was fantastic. I'll try it right now.
When a company has a lot of money/developer/resources and they don't add features to their in-demand product that they make a lot of money from, I don't know what to say! When you say you expect them to fix things, we all know that you are just being polite!
Best thing about Bricks(besides speed and clean DOM) is that it is not limiting me to do anything i want. When i have to use Elementor on client's sites, its quite a pain.
I can't agree more. Bricks just feels like a tool that makes things possible whereas, Elementor Pro seems to put barriers up when there should be none.
Thanks Paul. Agree Bricks is far better when it comes to handling Dynamic Data natively. It's part of the reason I have moved away from Elementor. I'm now using Breakdance, which is also has great native dynamic data support. Would be interested to see if Breakdance can replicate the in-line example you started with in this video. I think Bricks might have the upper hand there...
The ability to use inline dynamic content is so important (IMHO) as it opens up so many great opportunities for personalisation throughout an entire site, not to mention removing reliance on the really dated and limiting method Elementor Pro offers with text before, after or a simple fallback.
Sky high? Do you think $249 for unlimited sites yearly or $599 for unlimited sites for a lifetime is expensive? If you can't make that money back on commercial work, your business model needs revising. Plus, if you need to do much of what Bricks does natively with Elementor, you will be adding more money on top of the annual fee Elementor is charging to do the same. You need to look at things a little differently in your comparison.
It's great for everyone that bought in when it was affordable. Bad for anyone else looking to start as a web designer. It's a gift to any new page builders starting out. @@WPTuts
Hi Paul, watch your videos a lot and always enjoy them... that said, IMHO this particular video is very slanted towards Bricks... unfairly. A lot of the time using ACF you need to get addons for many of the builders. Okay with repeater fields Bricks has it built in, but you could point to quite a few items built into Elementor Pro that isn't in Bricks. BTW I do Like Bricks and am in the process of learning it. I just feel you used a situation, unfairly, to show a situation to make one sound better than the other. Indeed, you seem to prefer to use ACF... fair enough. But, compared to the likes of JetEngine it can prove very costly if you need certain features that come as standard with Jet Engine.
@@KrisFromFuture I'm a big fan of GeneratePress and GenerateBlocks, so I can certainly appreciate where you're coming from. Like it or not, Gutenturd is the future of WordPress.
You can't really compare bricks and elementor, they are two completely different builders. Elementor is really annoying for custom stuff because it's a limited builder in the same field as divi. If you would compare bricks its with oxygen or cwicly
But good video :D thank you, I just cant compare a class-based builder with a non-class, it's a different animal. Please do a bricks and cwicly one@@WPTuts
Personally, much prefer how Bricks handles dynamic data and queries. Building a query in Oxy and Breakdance is you going to a separate area to build the single component, whereas in bricks you can build it directly in your page or template. this means that if you building a grid of CPTs, it's much more streamlined in Bricks since you can see all your content, rather than just seeing a single div (not on the page you are building the query) taking up the entire width that then gets dropped into a query.
Yeah I'm pretty biased as I'm exclusively working with bricks these days. I would love to see more about cwicly as they have true global but bricks is working on it as well@@Skratchable
@@collectiveunconscious3d I really like cwicly the more i see! I will probably pick up a copy and build some sites. The grid builder is pretty nice GUI. Components are of course massive. I'm sure Thomas @ Bricks will nail it! Are you using a framework with bricks?
Elementor really lacks in flexibility, when it comes to dynamic data. I don't see any benefit or reason using Elementor. Paul, I know why you don't mention anything against Elementor, as it's not about bashing E. (again)🤣 The main difference in most scenarios is your level of experience and knowledge. Elementor makes it much easier to use the simple dynamic options. Surely, Bricks is not tough to use as once you know how to, it's like cycling.
