this is honestly one of the coolest music vids ever, from Twink living his best life to the style and decor of the club... absolutely smashing. one day once I've earned my millions I'll open a 60s psych club and I expect all you lovely viewers of this to attend
A few of us were employed as extras in the film, the location was the now demolished Palace Hotel in Southport,we were paid £7 a day and the use of our Lambretta's . Happy days R.I.P. Phil.
In the US we didn't have the Pretty Things. I'm glad I saw this video. The way it was filmed is exciting and titillating. And with RUclips I can watch it repeatedly!
I saw these guys ( pretty things) in 1968 at the Isle of Wight first festival at godshill. They were brilliant and really crazy . Loved it among others Jefferson airplane were there also sensational. What times they were will we ever see them again.
You can get this track and the instrumental version by Electric Banana On the 3CD 2019 Complete De Wolfe sessions - this film is such a classic British take on Psychedelia and Sally Geeson! Phwoar!!!
Nawrr, this stuff still happens. Just not now. There will be clubs and good bands playing, hopefully again. Let's say a prayer and burn one for Phil, who passed yesterday. And listen to Pretty Things all day.
Alex Sinclair Am 44 since 92 first heard deflecting Grey , came my all time GREATEST BAND , brought up in Britpop nothing COMPARES to the PRETTY THINGS never saw them to my SHAME , well done seeing them ,
I just uploaded an upscaled version of this in 1080p60fps. I think you'd like it. The video is called "vaporwave but it's not vaporwave, it's just 1969". It's not on the channel I'm commenting from.
Is it really edited? Extraordinary job if so, it's seamless, as if a sequence in a movie, like "Stroll On" by The Yardbirds in Antonioni's wonderful Swinging London snapshot "Blow-Up". Here: ruclips.net/video/jqh03zFRx2w/видео.html
I think I would love to be reborn as a rock star in the 60s like this. omfg the girls, the music, the fun. It's not like glam rock which got all dark and heroiny, this is like light, sexy, and the tripping probably wasn't dangerous (I don't know).
Not super dangerous until the heroin and speed and coke set in. Most acid casualties were rare and due to already sensitive people like Syd Barrett. But the hard drugs became popular and everything got darker
You will notice that most rock ODs were due to a mix of alcohol, downers, heroin, etc. Then later in the 70s it became coke and heroin mixed, or else intense amounts of booze and downers
Acid could definitely be dangerous, depending on the dosage and your mental health. There was heroin. It wasn't used as widely as it was in the 70s, but by the mid and late 60s, it was being used more. Coke was also big in the mid and late 60s. Earlier in the sixties you had uppers, downers, pot......pretty much whatever you wanted, but the heavier stuff wasn't nearly as big as it was just a couple of years later.
I was brought up in the 90s Britpop , my all time favorite band the PRETTY THING'S when a first heard SF sorrow went out bought the album , FIRST concept album before the who's Tommy , even though they did a mini opera in 66 , with a quick one while he's away , as Phil May said we invented EVERYTHING got credited with NOTHING , EMI backed Sgt pepper and Piper at the gates of dawn , same time , same recording studio Abbey road let Sf Sorrow sink with little to no advertising , took until 98 at Abbey road to bring it back from extinction , my all time favorite album , recommend it , listen to Baron Saturday , the Beatle's sgt pepper OVERRATED , had the time n money to hire orchestra's , cause of there utter crap early year song's , listen to the Beatle's 64 and 65 and listen to The Pretty thing's , The who , the Stone's , the Kinks , the Small face's name a few , see how bad the Beatle's were , thank you for reading this book lol
You can love The Beatles and the Pretties. I do. No, the Fab Four weren't overrated, they were brilliant, as were/are the Pretty Things. Personally my fav PT album is Parachute.
By the way, Vivian Prince shared his acid with Paul McCartney. They were all friends. David Gilmour's car is on the front cover of Freeway Madness. They as musicians are all friends and The Pretty Things admitted to borrowing The Beatles instruments to record some parts of S.F Sorrow so the musicians in The Beatles respected The Pretty Things and already loved Tomorrow's version of Strawberry Fields as Tomorrow achieved the same sound without backwards tapes, McCartney was shocked how they did it which Twink was on. He played drums on most of S.F Sorrow as Skip went to France.
R I P Phil May. I read that someone had had a good idea a few years ago, get the Pretties and the Stones in a small club someplace and have a battle of the bands and see who was better. I think we all know the answer.

Phil May had such a quiet confidence about him on stage. Nothing pretentious, no posturing. Tremendous front man and lyricist.
Great documentation of the swinging sixties. Love the look and style of women at the time. Oh youthfull memories!
Such a great document of an absolutely fun time in my life!!
~ R.I.P. Phil May & John Povey ~
I miss ya and the Pretties :(
Oh!! If only the 'Stones' and the 'Beatles' could have been this Cool and Groovy!!

I miss Phil. Miss the Pretties. Saw them so many times. A one off band......
RIP Phil. Thank you for the music ❤️
I just love the Pretty Things, the best '60s band that nobody's ever heard of (at least in the USA).
There all young in there 20's here i think.Shame bands of today don't make music as good as this anymore.
The Pretties are great SF Sorrow and Parachute are fantastic albums
I saw these guys ( pretty things) in 1968 at the Isle of Wight first festival at godshill. They were brilliant and really crazy . Loved it among others Jefferson airplane were there also sensational. What times they were will we ever see them again.

That must have been AMAZING to see the Pretties and the Airplane in one same festival!
L O L. I came here after watching the nanny with Mr. Sheffield mentioned electrical banana. This song is fire. I’m downloading it now on Apple iTunes.
I love the version Pretty Things did with Phil DeBarge on vocals (the whole album is quite good - "Eagle's Son" is particularly amazing).
You can get this track and the instrumental version by Electric Banana On the 3CD 2019 Complete De Wolfe sessions - this film is such a classic British take on Psychedelia and Sally Geeson! Phwoar!!!
Masterpiece!!! 1960`s Rock For Ever!!!
Yes. The Pretty Things capture the 60s spirit almost better than anyone.
RIP Phil May. Thanks for all!!!
OMG, I am so much longing back to this times
One word: INCREDIBLE!

Nawrr, this stuff still happens. Just not now. There will be clubs and good bands playing, hopefully again. Let's say a prayer and burn one for Phil, who passed yesterday. And listen to Pretty Things all day.

Looks more like a basement party than a club!
What's Good For The Goose.....Norman Wisdoms last film
What a band so good !
find of the year for me anyway - never knew the Electric Banana had a film release - incredible
Great music. I am only 24 but I love this band and in the last 5 years I have seen them twice live. I love this kind of music.
Alex Sinclair Am 44 since 92 first heard deflecting Grey , came my all time GREATEST BAND , brought up in Britpop nothing COMPARES to the PRETTY THINGS never saw them to my SHAME , well done seeing them ,

The Pretty Things as tbe Electric Banana. They did some pretty cool soundtrack work.
AHHH OMG I'VE BEEN LOOKING FOR THIS SONG SINCE SEVENTH GRADE it was from I Start Counting 1969
Superb ! RIP Phil May
Norman Wisdom madness
Why isn't this band more popular
Heavy competition. Beatles, Stones, Kinks etc
They were all friends though! At least.
They should have been up there with the Trems.
All the time man⚡️👍✌🏼🤪😎❤️🤙🏻👌

This is played in the Doctor Who story The Green Death, in Jo's fair well scene

Love!
What an acid trip! From Erin
Was that a smiling Norman Wisdom dancing with the woman near the start?
Trippy song!!!
Great!!!!
Yoou(or whoever) did such good job editing this

Brilliant editing indeed.
Just plain groovy!!

I think it could be , any addictive drug is , lot of 60s dead singers to show that sadly
@@bonnieandclyde222 Really? Well darn it. I just really liked the happy-go-lucky imagery 😂

Janes Addiction, stole this riff and created "Got Caught Stealing"
See yah, Phil!
I Start Counting! (Movie)
Reminds me of The Kinks.
Love it just as much!
they covered a few kinks songs early on
They nearly left Norman Wisdom out of this clip completely, he being the star of the movie (I think he actually wrote it and produced it)
Shades of Hush
This would have fit nicely on SF Sorrow in playing order after She Says Good Morning and before Private Sorrow went off to war.
wow I suddenly came to the realization that it has been a while since i dated someone
perhaps I need to go out more often..
kinda bad timing to start dating NOW i think
@@Mai-Gninwod lol duh!
same
Where to go out ? P.S. Unfortunately we cannot go into the past !

I agree Pepper is overrated, although its still a great album. Abbey Rd, Rubber Soul and Revolver are better.
Are you sure that's not me saying that? I hate cliches but you took the words..................... 😊❤

SF Sorrow is one of my favorites, got it on vinyl! So underrated (the album and the band in general)
Phil May is awesome
R I P Phil May. I read that someone had had a good idea a few years ago, get the Pretties and the Stones in a small club someplace and have a battle of the bands and see who was better. I think we all know the answer.
Austin Powers approves
At 1:08 it's either Norman Wisdom or Keith Moon.
Its our Norman.
def norm.
Is that Twink on drums?
Yes.
The women in the beginning of the video, looks like Sally Field
C’est quoi le titre du film ?
Thank Gawd Norman Wisdom doesn't appear in this bit to stink up their song! Phil May RIP
Tell me this isn't the inspiration for Austin Powers "Daddy isn't there" performance 🤣
Did anybody look this from Jared dines
electric banana? is that a euphemism for a woman's personal pleasuring device?
i don't know, ask Donovan
It seriously sounds like a Racounters song.
Gee not much LSD was dropped while filming this
Pretty Things .. Parachure 😁
プリティシングスの不良ぽさが出テテとてもセクシーでしたね!?~まあ。
Have liked the pretties since 1970 so sorry never saw perform
Justo nombraron esta canción en la serie de la niñera jaja
That Lord Flashhart lookalike physically grabbing the chick from leaving would never go over today!
Great !
