Naomi and Jack he did really well. African parents defiantly appreciate that.. I personally think that a man should always go to the parents to ask for their blessing. They raised his future wife with love an effort making her into the women he fell in love with. It’s the best way to start a loving respectful relationship with the two most important people in her life.. soo well done jack 🥰 P.s I have soft spot for gingers 🤣😂
@@traveller3891 I completely agree, it is the best way to start a marriage. Gratitude and respect is key! Oo I have soft spot for them too (well only him)
This was so funny to me. As Jack was telling the story I assumed mom was praying. Mom was waiting to hear from God. Jack you did the right thing. That was the ultimate act of respect. Don't listen to other people you did right.
Awesome story that had me smiling all the way through. I’m full of happiness now. The kind you get from laughing an extended time. Of course the parents should be involved. Good manners never gets old.
Brilliant. I never laughed so much with the waffle and tea story and your wife’s African parents. I’m new to your channel as I stumbled upon it by accident. I needed a laugh today. Glad it all worked out though. Lol. All the best to you both. My parents are Caribbean and my boyfriend is Italian. He met my sisters and father and not my mum who is kind of like Naomi’s mum... No boyfriends etc lol.
Awh thanks Lisa so glad we could help you laugh today ☺️ It all worked out great, her mum loves me now haha. We can definitely relate to you both hehe. Lots of love to you both 💕
Our parents need to restructure this no boyfriend business kkkkkkkkk Total restructuring needed coz we will all die spinsters , if they are not careful loooool❤️
I'm sitting here in tears, laughter tears, oh poor Jack....I.love that story. You guys need to write a book. I so love you guys. Please have a great life.
Asking for her hand in marriage is a sign of respect. Very proper. It lays a foundation for a good relationship with the in-laws, and family unity is very important.
since you asked for hand in marriage stories, my husband is from Africa too, Egypt specifically and we met in germany although I am American so neither of us had our families in Germany with us. He didn't ask my father to marry me in part because in the late 80s it was difficult to get an international call though. Usually one had to pay a high price for a few minutes and arrange the call from a center outside of the home (this was before international home calling, computer, cell phones etc). He returned home to Cairo, sent me a ticket to join him and we were married in the foreigner's office. It was on the honeymoon in Bankok that there was a possibility to call the US and my father answered but had no idea that I had left Germany, traveled to Cairo, got married and was now in Bangkok. Once I covered all of that I told him I got married and he was quiet and then my husband with his thick Arab accent said "Hi Dad it is nice to meet you!"...now my dad is not a real friendly guy and is a Trump voter etc....but he says Hello and the call was very awkward. Then a few weeks later we flew to the US unannounced and took a shuttle to my parents house late at night, knocked on the door and my parents were surprised we came back! So that first night was awkward introducing my husband and then taking him into my childhood bedroom (I was raised Mormon so no boys ever came before my husband). That was in 1988. We are still together today
Wow what a story! Thank you for sharing 😊 I am so glad you are still together! I can definitely relate with the no boys in the room 😂 it was awkward at first to take Jack into my childhood bedroom 😬
It was funny when my husband ask my dad for my hand n marriage lol he said he was super nervous as well but he too wanted to make a fast exit was pretty funny thinking back 50 years ago lol
Well done Jack but story very funny😂😂 now that was a nice cup of tea for me this morning 😂😂 by the way my husband ask my dad too and gave his blessings and we have been married for 26 years . We were 21
I think it is very respectful to the parents for you to ask them or tell them. One day you will have kids and what would you want them to do? Just also want to say; Naomi your smile is so contagious! Keep smiling!
You got to admit, African parents can make it really hard sometimes. Jack and Naomi, your story telling is everything... LOL.. I hope Naomi still has family in Zambia, it would really be interesting to hear what the Zambian relatives say after they meet you and all the different types of feed they will try and make you eat. LOL
I watched this at the beginning of the quarantine and I am still smiling April 2021. It's just.sooo beautiful ❤️. I wish you all the best with you studies Naomi and I hope you love each other for as long as Queen Elizabeth and Prince Phillip. 🤣❤️
LOL!!! I still like that ole school vibe of asking the parents for their daughter hand in marriage. One day I pray my dad will come but I don't want that type of experience. LOL
Every relationship and family dynamic is different so you just have to do what is best for you, so glad that you guys are happily married! Congrats on 23 years 🤗I'm interested though, when/how did you tell your parents and how did they react? 😊
OMG just similar story but I talk a juice instead of hot tie 😂😂 😂🤣 . It's not easy to met an Aftican parent but bless God everything went well .. Much love from us
Juice is a much better choice, you can drink it quicker if things get awkward! haha. It's not easy but it definitely gets easier, we get on well now 😊💕
Naomi you are actually Zambian???? Awww!!! I thought you were Nigerian. No wonder I'm always on your channel! I'm Zambian too. My boyfriend is American (white guy). For me there will be no surprises because both our parents already know about us. We have no way of hiding it because of distance. We are forced to share all our plans especially vacations taken together because no African parent will allow their daughter go where they do not know 🤣 even though I am in my 30's now. Anyway I have thoroughly enjoyed this video. I can't believe Zambian parents allowed him to come see them without "utubale" 😂
I think that tradition should continue reason for that it is respect for the parents and also it is the right to because it shows very much that you are a good person and the love you have for this person whom you're dating.
Parents? They want to give you away but don't want anyone to take you. No one is quite right! 😂 I wonder if they ever really come around. Daddy was still calling his son in law " that guy you married" sixteen years later! 😳 What can you do? Not a thing!😜 I enjoy your channel! Ty!
Jackie you trip me out a better word is you crack me up🤪😂😂😂😂🤣🤣 her mother would like to know he ain't trying to take my baby from me that's one of the reason why you didn't get no response she had no problem with she just thought he trying to take my daughter from me it was so funny how you look back over Memory Lane until the actual story to the RUclips people I'm loving it
I would Iove to have a private live chat with the two of you. I am in my sixty' and I am single and no matter which video I watch there is always something touching and inspiring from both of that makes me click. I am in the Caribbean and England is often referred to as my second home since I worked for the Airlines . I would love to meet you or chat with you online . I just watched your video on Jamie and Nikki's situation and you had a lot of advice that I am sure touched a lot of people. I await your response.
Naomi and Jack You’re Swedish now so it’s time to get used to informality. Partner parents never go by Mr & Mrs X. Always first name only. Informality and intentional economic use of vocabulary is particularly prevalent in Norrland where e.g. pulling air in through your lips you can convey entire concepts. Ask one of your neighbors to explain.
I have been fighting a cough and your story is threatening to get me coughing😬😂😂😂😂😭🤣🤣you know covid has made coughin the big C, bigger than the original C word. Well when i was 19 long time ago. Some 30something years ago, a guy i liked wanted to marry me but i was not sure. He was kind of nice but wet blanket. I said please write to my dad and he is very intuitive enough to make me know we are ready. So he did write. My dad was a Rwandan Aristocrat, stickler for detail, etiquette and good manners. Your man as they would say in Ireland pulled out a scrap piece of paper from a shorthand lil book and using a pencil jotted some words down. I was not there where he was in Kenya, i was in Uk and papa was in Uganda. So he posted the omnious bit of paper to a man who is very kind but cant abide by foolishness! I was minding my own business in London when the familiar papa writing arrived by airmail. Snail mail to you millenials and us Boomers, its like concord then! Concord was a fast plane that probably played record players and cassettes in between videos VHS😳. On opening i see it has something enclosed but i go for my papa letter. I read the news bit and then papa says. Please find here enclosed something that has bothered me. First of all am glad you honour me with wanting my blessing for a life partner. The youngman probably intended to be courteuos but what iam left with is a dilemma. Did he write this poorly becausr of foolishness or plain lack of care? I find neither excusable and so am not saying do not marry him or do Marry him. I just please ask you to kindly not let him be a relative of mine🤣🤣🤣or his father who is a polygamist. Bye. Love Papa
Will say the proposal to my husband was as sweet as your. We are 19 yrs counting and happy mixed Boomer couple. I had two boys 4 and 8 when i met isaac and we have an 18 yr old daughter. We are 5 shades of family love
I love the idea of asking for someone’s hand in marriage prior to proposing. In some ways I think it is asking for the parents to accept you as part of their family and a respectful and loving thing to do. Although you are marrying one person, you are marrying into their whole family, and these parents are people who you want to accept and support that.
That is so true, you cannot escape the family. when you marry a person you are marrying the whole family! I know my parents were so happy to be asked it is the best thing to do in our opinions. ❤️ Thank you for your comment
