Weird is a a very “high school” word. It’s a term almost everyone over 12 can relate to. All those psychological terms from the Diagnostic Manual might be accurate, but WEIRD sums it up. We’ve heard nine years of Trump calling people names and mocking them. Somehow Walz hit the nail on the head with a single word. Weird. 💙

"Weird" works because it's a seemingly nothingburger of a powerhouse word that's nearly impossible to disagree with. Even the people who love him don't in their wildest dreams think he's *not* weird, and they know it. That's why they come back empty, there's not a thing they could say that won't make it worse, and they can't laugh it off because they believe it too fundamentally. It's a strike of pure genius by Walz, and every time I hear coverage on it, someone gives a new reason it's so dead effective.

To ridicule Trump was an excellent move at the beginning of the Harris-strategy. It set a new tone of the Democrats' campaign: if we fight, we win. And I ridiculing Trump is one strategy of fight. Thatpuzzled the Trump-team completely and got Trump himself off the rails. The next step will be to get to the serious part of the campaign: What will we (Harris / Walz / Democrats) do for and with our country. This will be the process of the next weeks. Will be interesting to see how this shift will happen.

No professional is necessary. Mary Trump, Donald's niece, is all we need to learn about why he does what he does.

Going high in 2020 was soothing to my soul...after four years of feeling disgust at how muddy the office of the presidency had been made, it was reassuring to see there could be a path back to decency.

It was a bit disheartening to see how much "weird" has resonated in ways that a case for not losing our democracy just hasn't. The scariest part of a Trump presidency is seeing how we're still dealing with very serious repercussions from his last term. Getting rid of him didn't magically erase the damage. Of course that's because of the entire GOP machine (and the deep changes to the judiciary) that have been hard at work rolling back so much progress and which will take so much more to continue to combat.

Yhe important thing it does is trivialises him...the more you call him a monster, like Putin, the more powerful they seem. By saying hes just a big weirdo it makes you realise hes not strong in any way. Its the power of people eho believe that is giving him that

All these strategies to deal with Trump. The analizing him, strategizing how to handle him, the indignant anger.
Try this: put the bstrd in jail. Both him and his accomplices. Get on with OUR lives.

Imagine always being laughed at and no one ever laughing with you. That has been, and always will be, Trump’s lot in life. So the democrats are doing nothing new or original.

Up until now the Democratic Party has abdicated the rough and tumble battles in the political arena and it has hurt them. There is nothing wrong making jokes about your political opponents but admittedly off-color references can go wrong. Good humor is another name for wit! The participants in this video continue to display the uncomfortableness with which the entire Democratic Party has treated humor and aggressiveness in political campaigning! And that is why the insults and name-calling from Republicans has been so successful in painting Democrats as weak in world affairs, genetically opposed to law and order, and as freely handing out money to “welfare queens”. Displays of strength do not mean an absence of intellect!

When regarding the current Republican Party, just apply Theodore Sturgeos's quip, used in a different context, dubbed "Sturgeon's Law: Ninety percent of everything is crap."

For those wanting to know more, the _Star_ _Trek_ episode cited by Mr. Conway was titled "Day of the Dove". It was written by Science Fiction Hall of Famer Jerome Bixby, who also wrote one of the pivotal scripts in all of the series, "Mirror, Mirror". Arguably, JJ Abrams treatment of _Trek_ was just another spin of the wheel invented by Jerome Bixby.
Mr. Bixby had a genius for writing a strong story on a weak budget. Both of the named scripts were staged on the established sets of the starship and a single "planetside" soundstage set each. Just as the Lincoln Project started with one ad bought on strictest terms.
I'd buy George Conway's whiskey for an hour just to talk TOS with him.

“Meatball Ron” for DeSantis was the last Trump nickname that I thought was any good
But yeah he’s DEFINITELY lost a step. Look at any vid of him from 2016 compared to now and it’s clear as day
