Either just a simple oversight or was done for technical reasons. I can imagine it being a lot harder to make the lightning flashes and resulting shadows from them look good with the far more complicated pre rendered backgrounds used in the outdoor areas than the main hall in the screenshot of this video.

No doubt man, I used to have realistic nightmares about this one. That never happened during any of the other titles, so yes very much so.."Haunted mansion" at it's finest.

The Ashford twins plot was some of the most interesting and disturbing stuff in Resident Evil, not to mention it provides a nice foil to the Redfield siblings.
The Mansion is deep within the woods in Arklay Mountains it would be impossible to escape while there are dogs and possible zombies lurking within the woods itself. Chris wouldn't even be able to take down all enemies that come up against him. There are no actual highways near the mansion mainly trails and unused dirt roads that no longer lead to anywhere.
Its simple, it was isolated, in the woods , away from general public, leaving the mansion was literally feeding yourself to the dogs, its already dangerous enough to hitchhike in areas like that, plus this. yeah....um.
Who knows what else might have been infected in the forest. wolves, deer, bears what ever. I'm sure the zombies and zombie dogs are attacking everything.
Not only the best remake ever, but one of the greatest games ever made. A true work of art and undisputed masterpiece. This should have been studied and followed for future RE titles...instead we got RE4 - an absolute clusterfuck....the beginning of the end. These new remakes are fucking terrible
It would be more creepier was a first person shooter going through the haunting woods with the flashlight like silent hill I always creeped out after passing that mysterious statue and those trees and a zombie follows me later on
But my only question is; Could they not have escaped through the woods and ran back to the city, I mean come on Chris is the greatest sharpshooter i've ever seen, and of course there is the possibilty of Brad finding them on the highway or somthing...I suppose there wouldn't be a game if they had chose too though.
yah know it would be comepletly cool if they build an exact replica and like if youh wanted an actual experience of how it felt youh would go there and become any character from RE youh wanted. and when youh would get bit or any dmage youh would think its real but when youh die yourh simulation is done. and if youh wanted 2 go again then youh would go on and if youh won then youh would be able 2 do whatever youh wanted in tht plaCE. tht would be really great if it was real
RE 3 was the last one with a non-convoluted plot. RE:CV was where the series took a turn for the worse. REmake is the best RE game ever, but it's based on a PS1 game. So yes, it was a convoluted mess by the time it got to Gamecube.
CV had the single best story in the entire series and kept the old gameplay. Also had the most backtracking. And what is anime-like? Anime's just cartoons. And I'd consider 4 the bottom of the list.
I agree the gameplay was great. The story....not so much. The ashford twin plot was utterly ridiculous. I hate Claire Redfield anyway, they should have gone with Elza Walker for RE2's protagonist. Family ties convolutes stories.

wat? CV was crap compared to 0,1,2,4 and the outbreak series. The behaviour of the characters was so anime like, ugh. And the constant respawn of the enemies in several places killed it for me. It is better than Zombie-Panic-Shooter-in-Africa aka RE5 though
You can hear a barely audible but scary-ass moan every now and then in this track...genius.

When I was a kid and before ambient/asmr was really a thing, I'd just listen to the sounds in this game.
Going outside in the classic Resi titles, was a labor.

I believe the creepiest thing to me is Forest with all those grenades on him, just don't know where you'll run into him O_o

Gameplay was good, but story was shit. It also lost the old RE touch. Even RE4 had some old elements.
