Being clutch not raising your level of play in clutch situation, it is actually just staying as close to your "normal" baseline in yhe clutch situations.
Every single QB with a large enough sample size statistically got worse in clutch situations, however some QB's got a lot worse than others in clutch time.
Podcast summarized for everyone, enjoy.
This podcast was all side dishes and no main course unfortunately.
Mahomes with Burrow's OL couldn't score a TD against Tampa in SB. "Clutch" QB needs good OL
So, is it better to have the guy who has a higher number of comeback moments, because they are more often playing from behind, late in 1 score games. Or, the guys who have an incredibly low number of comeback moments, because they are rarely playing from behind, late in games? Do either actually matter or, are they just fantasized beyond their actual real world value??
YUPP you see that man 🗣️ RUSSELL MF’n WILSON
Any discussion of clutch qb’s where John Elway’s name is not mentioned is comical. If you watched him play you know what I’m talking about. Imo it’s Mahomes Brady Elway in whatever order then everyone else.
Arif did enough research for a 10,000 word article, then said that it showed Mahomes has performed better than Brady...
Steve isn't gonna sleep for weeks lol
There are a few sport psychologists that equate nerves to excitement, as Sam noted being nervous, per multiple peer-reviewed studies has shown doesn’t negatively impact performance. But it’s verifiable in different sports
I remember the past few years hammering you guys on Twitter about how coaching is important when simply getting a QB comfortable. I think a huge boon for Mahomes, not to take anything away from him, but Reid is as confident and cocky and imbues that in his QBs as any coach in the last 30 years. Reid often is the smartest guy on the field and he knows it.
They want me to watch this long video where the only message is that being clutch doesn’t matter? Nah I’m good
23:10 I used to joke with my buddy that Eli Manning was so slow that he didn't realize he won a Superbowl until years after he won the '07 one against the Pats. He was just completely oblivious to the pressure
Thank you for correcting him in big shot Rob. That was … not a good scene
ARIF! Love to see some Seahawks fan representation!!!
Mahomes undoubtedly gets better in the clutch.
Burrow is more perception than reality. 2nd half of Super Bowl was awful, couldn’t even get a 15 yards for field goal to tie. Then threw 2 bad picks in the AFCCG. The Bengals defense in the 4th quarter has as many TDs as him in his 7 playoff games (1).
The Bengals went to the Super Bowl. The Bengals. Burrow was clutch as... On that playoff run
We literally just went over the numbers of why he 100% is clutch in this video. Did you watch it?
Ignoring the horrible O-line and dropped pass
Lmao
All while being 5-2 in the playoffs. Bengals hadnt won a playoff game in 30 years prior Burrow getting drafted there 🤣 what you just said is irrelevant
Burrow is is Trevor Lawrence with weapons
It’s pretty hard listening to… not smart guys talk about other intelligence. Fellas, define confidence. In your head take a moment and processssss. Eliminate what it isn’t..
I’ll help out, eventually down the thought process you should, heh should arrive at the point that someone who’s comfortable and confident has an understanding and meassssuuuurememt of their abilities.
Clutch players in any sport are the ones who get better when the game gets harder. They can engineer themselves a way out of almost any situation without taking so many risks that they throw their small chance of victory away.
Tarif’s analysis already debunks the notion that clutch players get better in high pressure circumstances. It’s a matter of how much they deviate from their expected level of play.
Arif is a clueless joke. If I wanted to hear what he has to say I'll just tune into ESPN. Same shiz different channel.
Bad bad show
