Other than his excellence in music , it is his concern for the downtrodden that endears him to the God Almighty. All other musicians are just musicians ,first and last . But T M K is God' s endearing son first and then a musician. Anyone who thinks otherwise is welcome to live in his own exalted world. In fact ,the soul of his music lies in his humanity.
There’s a lot that TMK can contribute in music itself, genius that he is. Entering into the Secular debate is dabbling in politics which he would do well to stay away from. To be correct, Carnatic music is intrinsically linked to Hindu Bhakti culture. TMK will do well to appreciate the history of the Bhakti movement, role of Carnatic music in it. It can have social themes - freedom movement songs such as that of Bharathiyaar etc but does not lend itself to other religious discourses. Even KJ Y Yesudas, a doyen of Carnatic music and yet a practising Christian did not attempt to plagiarise Carnatic music to Christian verses. Sheik Chinnamoulana and Bismillah Khan did not do it either. Compositions of Theyagaraja etc twisted to include other words not in the original compositions would be violative and destructive of the copyright and author’s rights associated with it. These are best avoided TMK. You have so much to contribute as a genius of our generation. Why spoil the legacy and deprive us poor folks of your ingenuity!
With all due respect to elders, hear your plea. As a musician he is entitled and feels like the music is beyond all these social constraints that have been hardwired for years. Yes, it has been through these ideals that many things have been brought to Karnatik music. It is also the very thing that can trap a musician of his calibre. We need to realise that music is a creative process that is not in its entity to be trapped by such ideals. It is also of extreme double standards to decide for someone what he/she should dabble upon. Bharatha Freedom is fine? Being a social reformer is not? We would never have this independence if there won’t social reformers. Let’s just enjoy music, the creativity and not dictate anything anymore. Let this creative process fly and soar. If it’s not to our liking we just move away in all due peace. Sorry if I have said anything wrong. Enjoy!

Amazing aalapana.

I want the Krithi "Bhavayami RaghuRamam Bhavya suguna Ramam" Raaga- Raagamaalika from Sri.TMK sir's voice.
Simply Marvelous.
Gods gift of brilliance in music sd have been cherished and not wasted in foraying in to areas which are not his forte
I fully agree - what a shame, he is using his immense talent in all sorts of meaningless, populist pursuits.
Soulful
Brilliant performance
excellent performance. TNK should realise he is foremost musician and not social reformer avoiding controversies.

correct it is cheema not seema
TMK is a Tamil native musician ; Tyagaraja was a Telugu Brahmin. 'Cheema' is a telugu word.
Wow. What a feel !!
hinduhater TMK, he has separated music from Dhamra, I find it difficult to vibe with just swaras and sahity - where the soul is absent
He is not a Hindu hater
You are really great
Wish he had just sang - his core competence. Foraying into liberandu areas didnt help him...
At least he's not a bigoted brahmin like many. Let him do what he thinks is right.

I respect him and enjoy his music even more because of his stance on socio-cultural issues. You accept him the way he is or move on. Your loss.
I enjoy & respect him for his knowledge. His social reforming is none of my matter. Let him say anything. We don't mind it
