I agree with this video and I think it's very bold of you guys to actually name some of the companies. However, how do you counter arguments that the products are actually good and makes a difference in people's life's and can be bought without membership? Even though the prices are obviously inflated to make payment for the 5-6 tiers. I hope you guys will talk about this in the upcoming 30 min video. Good job team Alux.
@@sandeshkabir23 MLM is great marketing. Great way to share value. It is only a SCHEME if there is not real value. Or require initial payment to get started. There is no COUNTER.. value is value.. you are able to get others to spread value for you and those they spread value to can also spread value.. its great marketing as I said... but make sure your AT THE TOP or NEAR THE TOP and have HIGH VALUE PRODUCT with COMPETITIVE MARKET PRICING so your providing real value.

Network marketing is the absolute greatest business model. The only people who say this are those who are ignorant. How can a company like Amway who owns the Orlando Magic are ‘pyramid scheme’. Just bc people don’t want to work and can’t get what they want doesn’t mean something is wrong w the company. This video is opinion but not based on fact
People need to do their research properly and understand that network marketing and pyramid schemes are NOT the same thing. Every business/organization in the world recruits people to grow. And just because you have to pay money to start a business, that doesn’t make it a scam. Every franchise and business needs capital to get going. Pyramid schemes get shut down because they’re illegal. The best NWM companies are still around because they’ve been adding value to the marketplace for decades through products, services, and opportunities.
I am a huge Aluxer fan and have been flowing this channel since it started. They usually educate themselves before posting a video. I was shocked that this was mostly opinionated. There was a huge focus on Ponzi schemes but very little focus on the actual MLM structure. Each industry has legal and illegal characterics. I hope the next video on this topic touches more on the legitimate MLM industry.
Legal and illegal characteristics? Adam...what are you talking about? Honestly it is very difficult to find legitimacy because the incentive structure on the individual who enters the market is that they need to advertise themselves as a lifestyle and a product of the product. BEcause you are expected to sell to your friends and family, you have to sell them a lie about you and what you're doing. Then you need to coach them to lie to others, all in the hopes that one day that lie you're telling will be true. The backbone of this entire industry is the model laid out by Charles Ponzi, genius scumbag extraordinaire.

@@davegvaughan Thanks for your reply. I have been in a few different companies in MLM for various reasons. My personal experience and from what I could see in the behaviour and characteristics of the most successful people in those companies, lieing to people about an income or lifestyle was not what created their success. Ultimately the people who were successful had to become good at giving effective presentations to others who actually wanted to commit to getting better at the skills of the business and be skilled at helping people believe in themselves (among other skills they possessed). Lieing about anything never worked in the long run from what I could tell. I would really like to hear about your experience with MLM, because I feel that it must be much different than mine.
I started in network marketing in July 2019. I avoided the industry like a plague for 25 yrs. I am an entrepreneur with 30 years experience and had the strong desire to help others become financially free like us (which we did without nwm and big investments). I am really happy I gave this industry a chance. I overtook my sponsor (which shows that it’s not true that newbies don’t stand a chance) and built a decent sized team that pays me a full-time salary. Not millions. A regular salary. A large number of my partners earn really good money, and several have reached the car bonus level. Partners so NOT get paid when signing up a new partner. Please stop spreading this untruth. There are two ways to earn money: commission on the sale of products and a commission on your partner’s product sales. Your partner does nothing? Guess what? You earn nothing! Is that commission coming out of their pocket? No! The company has two accounts. If your volume is 500 pts and that equates to $20 commission, then the same applies to your downline and your upline equally. Your downline doesn’t get $20 minus a commission to their sponsor. That’s just utter nonsense.
Never in my life in college that they taught me how to generate wealth and to grow wealth, only in MLM. What i have learned with my involvement in MLM is priceless and i will be forever thankful for those knowledge...
I completely understand this point. I think education has something to learn form MLMS in this way. There is too much of a TRUE cost to MLMS for me to support them in any way however. They destroy personal networks, push people to believe in lies through repeating sales lines and loyalty contracts. It's so cultish and wrong. My skin crawls thinking about how it has totally changed good friends into complete business demons and they've never been the same.

Jiali Kelm there are various types of businesses that require sales, but some require specialised sales training.I don’t think you would need to do a sales course to sell meat at a butcher, for car parts at an auto parts store. If everyone could sell, then why would we need to participate in MLM courses? Surely we could receive a quick walk-thru and start selling and climbing the MLM ladder of success, right Jilali Kelm?
I was actually able to quit my corporate job because my commission with my "MLM" was higher...its been residual every month = time freedom. Plus best products ever, awesome community of people I met that are like minded with non toxic living. For me, it is a HUGE blessing!
To be honest I thought Alux would be better job explaining the misconceptions of network marketing.. I am in Amway currently and it’s true what Alux says, only to be honest I haven’t done any work for being lazy and yes I am spending my money.. but the value the business offer actually can improve your life. Their model is you get royalties for buying your own product and teach others the same. Simple and basic. Only the team I work with, we are careful with who we take in our team... because some people are not interested or willing to improve someone’s life and educate them how the world works.

And I am purchasing it from a grocery store then its OK and if I buy from the network marketing company then it's a scheme when I'm getting same or better thing In return and I'm getting paid to tell the others about it... Ohh Anurag, you're not in the same field of logic my friend. If you are an affiliate marketer, yes you get a commission when I buy from you. You don't have an incentive to build a false lifestyle to commit me to want to sell with you. Within network marketing you have the incentive to build a contrived lifestyle that you use to push products on your friends and family and social network. You don't make much from each product sale (less than in affiliate marketing) but if you convince me to join you get a cut of my sales, which helps with the quarterly volume requirements you might have. BUt now I'm in that same position as you were, so I need to find more people to alleviate the pressure. But each new person I add to the business has that same amount of pressure (it is not lessened as it is spread across to new entrants). Overtime this virus propogates throughout the economy. If you entered early in the market you're making a good stream of income, but at a cost to those beneath you that are months in debt to a model that is destroying them financially and socially. They have an altered mindset that makes it difficult for them to want to re-enter the workforce. Their credit cards are maxed out, but at least they get to be with their "friends" three times a week.
Alux kinda messed up with their definition of MLM. The whole reason MLM exist is because someone saw a need to spend advertising via word of mouth vs through commercials and other media. Word of mouth is the most effective way to advertise. It’s a proven fact. Essentially what’s happening is your being paid to refer people’s spending from one company to another via interpersonal communication. Your essentially a marketing company of your own. Your building your brand by showing others then can have success. I’d now I’ve been around the environment and have learned a lot of success principles. Frankly, I don’t expect Alux to understand because they see a small picture of the large overview.
If you join them at the view of the bigger picture you will see that the MLM model is grafted onto the pyramid scheme of old. It's more sustainable because it creates a buyers club of committed individuals for a relatively uncompetitive product. What you say is correct, but again it all is supporting the OG business starter. The only people making money in the MLM industry is those who started the MLM business or joined when they opened into new markets. Anyone who joins these large companies at this point only stand a chance of making money if people in the upper portions of the org. get shocked out in some way. I have been working with people studying this for 30 years. It's difficult to break through the mentality of these businesses because they train their distributors 3-4 times a week on building a mindset that convinces them they will be successful. As others have referenced this exposure to business operations can build transferable skills and do offer an alternative form of business education (a point I agree with Kiyosaki on), but I hold the opinion that the cost is too great. I am committed to educating more people about this cost because the deceptive practices of this industry are far and above the worst I've ever seen in business.
Zach Kessler so why do multi national brands use celebrities and other people of influence to market their products? Rarely do you see the CEO of a company (including companies such as Amway or Herbalife) make a compelling reason to buy his companies products directly to consumers. What interest me most, is how these private label products stack up against everyday consumer branded products you can purchase at your supermarket. There needs to be completely independent research published, in order to create a real value proposition for the product being marketed.
With due respect to the incredible value that you bring to lives, including mine, through your videos, I humbly think that you are on the side for this one. I know you make a lot of research before you issue a video on a topic. For a Ponzi scheme there is no products or services. Literally the money of the new comers serves to pay the previous ones and so on. MLM on the other hand has a real product or service that people can use and get value out of it, real identifiable offices with real people in the company. People pay for the products and services, no matter if they are in as IBO or as customer. You seem to touch base on it at the end. MLM is all about commission paid on volume sold, What ever the way, how many layers, what are the rates, etc. Commission on your own sales is like employee. You get to business owner by your leadership work in mentoring other people to grow their own business. Ponzi scheme is illegal. MLM is not Ponzi if the conditions are met. Please Don’t get me wrong! Constant GUIDIBI very well said. Everything in life costs, but if you put in the effort to sell a product or service then it will provide enough to cover your expenses and you’ll show a profit. We’re all in a pyramid in everything we do.
In this video Alux has totally messed it up. They seem to have done absolutely no research at all. They didnt talk about any authentic facts at all. Now it raises questions on all their earlier videos too. Whether or not they really did research for those videos too
I’ve been following this channel for about a year now and really appreciate the amount of work that your team puts into these videos! However, to say that all of these “pyramids” are “illegal” is just not true at all. To me it sounds like you just watched one or 2 videos from Ethan V and went from there without doing anymore research. Let me ask you this, if network marketing (or mlm) is completely illegal, then why do so many big names like Robert Kiyosaki & Donald Trump support the business model? The other thing I don’t get is when others say that most don’t make any money in these things. Do you think that’s because of the actual business model or the amount of effort one puts into it? Because at the end of the day, most people who start any type of business regardless of the business model don’t make money or very little. Don’t get me wrong though, there are ones out there that are illegal where the focus is all just on the money. But if there is an actual product involved (or multiple products) of value, and you have the option of using the product as well as sharing it with others, then what’s wrong with that? 🤷🏻♂️ But like I said, I appreciate this channel and the amount of effort that goes into these videos and I’m not gonna be one of these people that unsub because you have a difference of opinion. I totally agree with you. But I'm on of those who don't see the point in subscribing to a channel spreading false information like this. If I didn't know anything about MLM/Network marketing, I could actually beleive that what they say in this video is true. So what about their next video, I can't trust that they are spreading the truth in that video either. So it's a clear NO from me to this channel!

HOLY CRAP! There is a lot to unpack here! I can hardly wait for the 30 min video. Let's just say I was involved in Amway in the WorldWide Dream Builders Organization our Diamond was Greg and Lori Duncan. I'll give you more details later.
Issues we had was the fact that was revealed later was the "upline" (from Direct onwards) was actually making money from the tapes, books, and functions). To really build a long lasting business, you really needed to make your mlm a primary priority. You can do anything but you can not do everything. Tracking where alot of these emeralds and diamonds are now, we see where alot of divorces, and a number of what appeared to be extremely profitable mlms no longer exist. The teaching from WWDB that you can build it to the extent that you can retire and do nothing is not true. Even as a diamond and higher, one must continue to work the business. Yes at the higher pins , you now have leverage to your advantage. But your business will die at any level if you are not vigilant. There are tapes and recordings of Rich Devos warning of the emphasis of " tapes, books and functions" and what it could lead to. There is so much more I could give. I also believe that " cult of personality" and the basic cult-like environment," the use of religion" "the health and wealth prosperity doctrine" were very abnormal and bizarre.

First of all, your Definition of a Pyramid Scheme Automatically Excludes Amway from being such, as you Do NOT "Get Paid to Bring People Under You" !!! You Only get paid in Amway when Product is Sold!!! I Repeat, you DO NOT GET PAID to bring people in UNDER YOU! In my experience with Amway they specifically told us we get a percentage of whatever the people under us sell then also told us that we HAD to replace all our typical home products with their products in order to make “the most” out or it. Not once did they try to show me how to run my own ”e-commerce” store since they were to busy trying to go through all my contacts to call every single body on my phone to see if they wanted to join this “great opportunity”. Seriously I’m glad I didn’t continue with the process. They also don’t mention how much money & time you’re going to waste on their meetings, conferences, out of town crap & so on that you don’t even make money to cover all that if you don’t have people under you.

But you were also in an organization separate from Amway (in terms of the conference etc) going through your list.. you gave them permission to do that. Not all organizations go about it this way. I personally don't like MLM businesses, but I don't agree with this video either. I think MLMs use LEVERAGE, As does any other smart business person. You use others UNDER you to help increase the revenue of your business. Does the bank teller make as much money as the president of the bank? No. Does the Registered Nurse or even the Doctor make as much as the Hospital CEO? HELL no. A worker at JCP or MAC sells products making $9 an hr. You think the CEO, COO or CFO are making $9 an hr?? C'mon..... As many have stated, according to your "definition" everything would be a pyramid scheme. But again, it's called utilizing the power of Leverage.

A lady at grocery store stopped me and asked certain question like what product do you use for your hair , I like your hair..... and she wanted to be a friend she told me she is a doctor and work long hour along with her husband and she told me she is happy to have a coffee with me at a beginning it feels wired then she asked me what I was doing for living and promised me her brother is in my field could give me a job or she can connect me with some people she has network with. I was skeptical at the beginning then meet up for coffee talked about life and she gave me a book title to read and discuss next time. We met next time and discuss about the book and she gave me another title for a book to read and discuss I agreed and she told me her mentor can meet with me and her and he is a millionaire he wants to give back since some one had helped him when he was warning a decent Job but wasn't satisfied with life I believed her because she drove 40 min to meet me once a week now the milllioniere friend mentor of her came with here discuss about the book called The compound effect and after that they told me to read the book called The business of 21 century by Robert Kiyosak we met up and discuss about it after that they told me about the business and next day I went to their meeting I was so confused by the fact they are trying to get me to the business. Any business or profession has its own pros and cons. I can agree with you at what you say that they are “wanna be entrepreneurs” but that’s the point. Even if you play basketball and you want to join NBA not everyone who wish to play will get drafted, not everyone in NBA will be a starting player or a superstar, only a few because it involves a lot of practice, studying and shit of work. The reason why they don’t make money in this industry because in the first place many of them are wannabes but don’t want to take down their pride and do the real work. Thank you!

Here a tip to detect a pyramid scheme in 1 minute : First type : A person you do not know come to you on the street congratulating you for something and right away tell you that they have this opportunity you can not miss but will not tell you what it is and hand you his / her number. Second type : Some one you just just know from someone else (the kind of person you meet on the street, greet him / her then move on... That person out of the blue reach you and tell you that they have a meeting about assurance / financing / education... But refuse to give you more details and push hard for you to come with them claiming it will only take you 30 minutes... Third type : Some one you know well ask you to go somewhere with them because they have been invited to an info session about becoming their own boss and are asked to bring people with them but themselves do not have much info about it. The one thing that always here is the blurry part, I mean the fact that they will never give you much info but push you to go promising you that this is the best opportunity of your life, sometimes showing you a video about people saying that this thing (will never tell what thing is it...) changed their life... Way too many people (especially minority) fall for that because they want more money... I have been approached countless of time by them, always amazed how many people still get scammed... But I am the worst potential customer because even in store my one word is "NO". For marry K though I did see a pink car and went to the house talking to that lady ad she told me marry K. But still did not sign, was just curious.

Thank you! I don't want to learn how to recruit people. I want to learn what it actually takes to start and maintain a successful business and that's what I feel the people I'm connected with are teaching me. Times are changing and I think in the future people wont look at this as a pyramid scheme anymore.

EBIZ is the company. i even joined it and took detailed experience from it as to exactly how the system works. do nothing but ignore to these type s of companies. Amway is the first, largest and most profitable network marketing company in the world. You earn a commission not buy recruiting, but rather, on the total volume of actual products purchased by those whom you referred to Amway. It's a recurring referral commission of products purchased by your team
Hi Nazeem, you may not get money when they first start out, but they sign a contract that guarantees that you make money from them in the future. This sustains their business model much longer than traditional pyramid schemes. It's fancy, it has lipstick and great soap, but bro, it's most certainly still a pyramid scheme.
I was about to join Forever Living Products, even I had the same doubt about their source of revenue. But there are some positive sides of joining a good MLM company like:- Learning the art of Sales. Getting rid of the fear of rejection and hearing many "NO's". 3 things to check while joining MLMs. A) Companies history ( age ) B) Product or service. C) Return on investment. Follow this step in the same chronological order. Usually people check in the opposite order. ( C-B-A ) .

But, even they teach us to focus on adding more members and making them buy their product (to complete 2cc) than selling the product directly. Just like ALUX said. So even their majority profit comes from the new member buying the product rather than selling them directly.

Don't spread hate please. Yes, I agree there are few ponzi schemes but not all. If u see many real time entreprenuers promote network marketing.
I worked at a place for three years and in that time my practice manager repeatedly, over that time, wanted me to get on board. I was even pushed into attending an introduction night where she tried to sell the scheme, bullshit products, to a handful of us. I resisted. My instinct, my bank account and total dislike of her helped me to put her off. So many liars and manipulators out there.
I never comment on RUclips videos, but this one is worth sharing, one more thing (in addition to the video) people not only loose money, but loose friends as well, Generally when MLM people approach you they never sell a product rather just membership, even if they offer a product it is really a over priced and extremely low quality product.

Help me to think about what I want in life and what to do with my life. I own more books, audiobooks ever then before that because Tai L. put me onto that, started 2 businesses both fail but still investing in my brain and body first an creating a foundation before I start focusing businesses and investments. Lose a friend, finding out who your true friends are, homeless for 2 weeks, cutting people, heading to the gym 3x a week, eating healthy, educating myself in the world of money relationships, psychology, human body and other things. So yeah best investment I ever made 👍🏾 Amway thanks for opening my world that I thought I knew!
If you have to put in money to increase you earnings, its an MLM....". Really? What exactly do you think makes people go to Universities then? So an average student paying over $100,000 of College Tuition on average, ending up with $35,000 in student loans (which doubles to $70,000 by the time they pay it off) and gets a starting salary of $45,000 barely saving any money at the end of the month to repay their student loans is not having to pay to earn money? Wow.... schools and colleges have really done a good job of brainwashing you to accept that. We are all part of a pyramid scheme... its called society. 97% of us work for someone else and then wonder how the 3% are richer than the rest of us combined. People above us will always profit off our success until we get promoted ourselves and then success of people below us at work increases our reputation. I don't hear people complaining then. Everything's a scam until you realize that your whole life is one and you are stuck in the hands of power of the top 3% irrelevant of whether you work a regular job or an MLM.
One that happened to approach me years ago I felt shaky about how it was run. The MLM had a policy telling me that I wasn't allowed to tell anyone I recruited about the business until the recruit got to the "interview" because "they could tell them more than I could due to lack of experience!" Also how I could easily make a few hundred a week in short time without any real explanation on where I would find clientele or would get defensive anytime I questioned the higher up people. The recruiter told my dad he loved targeting younger people especially in college because their jaws drop to the idea of how much money could be earned in "short time." This was in 2012 when the economy was bad and people struggled to find even part time jobs.
This is a total misrepresentation of Network Marketing. The only difference between Newtwork Marketing & Consumerism, is that Network Marketers are Customers that get paid for Our Recommendations, when those Re commendations become sales to The Company; wherein A Regular Consumer gives Free Reviews & Recommendations; but when their Consumer Review & Recommendation turns into A Sale they don't Get Paid. A Legitimate Company With Credible Products paying their Customers for Paying Referrals is not A Scheme or Illegal. That's A LIE.
Then why did Mr. Robert kiyosaki wrote a separate book on network marketing. This is based on research i did when I heard about network marketing. People are going mad about network marketing. Pavan Krishna you make money going out and moving a product or service, not joining and hoping to make money just because you’re affiliated with a business. Lazy people go broke and blame the opportunity which they invested money in to start.
I completely agree to what you have said. It takes hustle and hard work. My suggestion to everybody is to read the book "business of the 21st century"by Robert kiyosaki.
Kiyosaki and Worre are business men. Would you not leverage the opportunity to tap into a network grasping for legitimacy? There are nearly 18 million Americans sold on this scam. There are countless more around the world doing the same. Seeing how long this industry has been around, and seeing how hopeless it is to pull those in it, out, they have offered their names to build large profiles in the industry. In return for offering this legitimacy (which is a huge currency when you business is selling lies and dreams) they get huge sums for speaking engagements and a market that is committed to buying their publications and watching their videos.
You did not clearly explained about the legitimate mlm business, so plz do another video giving some references for legitimate mlm companies and the advantages in this direct selling Industry
Mlm works only if you can ALWAYS find new 3 people to convince but macro-economically it makes no sense because in the end all are sellers and none is a consumer (huge supply with minimum demand). One may be good at sales and that's great but not all are, hence it is hard earn money using the MLM technique. It is better to sell the products directly which you could do anyway with any other company pretty much. I wish I had someone to explain it to me when I was approached. If you want to make money you need to offer something that holds value to people. It is then better to dedicate time to learn how can I increase the value of whatever I'm offering. Thanks Alux once more for providing high quality content instead of what people want to hear.
I strongly disagree with this one. I buy a couple services from a few of these companies which over the years have saved me thousands of dollars. Why not add in a real estate agent? It cost me a lot to get licensed to build a team and I have to pay every month even when I don’t make a dime unless my team and I generate enough to offset the expenses. You also left out Aflac to go with Primeamerica, Renatus, and Financial Education Services to mention a few. We are all in a pyramid scheme in one way or another and don’t even realize it. Think about it, does your business have monthly expenses even if you don’t produce which would eventually put you under. Like for example, how long can you sit with zero income before even the utilities would put you in the red?
Jon Stel These are good points Jon. It is a matter of degree. In the insurance business as an independent agent you are getting a percentage of the brokerage or Aggregator. I would not call this a pyramid Scheme but it does have multiple levels.
There's a difference between paying for your business to keep going and being forced to continually buy product that you can't possibly sell. These MLMs use a lot of manipulation tactics to keep people in and surrending their money. There are plenty of differences, I'm sorry they couldn't cover everything in 8 minutes.

They liked my enthusiasm - I was with Quixstar and Amway and Usana. I really didn't like so many of their products. It was funny when they did not say their business name right away or they had a family name like Harris Production to mask that they were actually Amway or another company. They told me to make money I have to spend money, but when I got my paychecks they weren't worth sht. When I got into Quixstar, I didn't have a job and to get in, it was go time, bug bug bug time, sell sell sell, call call call, ugh but I did it and I learned a lot about the business model and they spent quite a bit of time trying to prove that they were not a ponzi scheme. In the end, I am not a pushy kinda guy and I got out of all three. I do like Amways vitamins, that is all I liked. Usana was OK, but where I lived at the time, no one was buying and I was working full time and I didn't feel like kicking ass with the biz, but I did learn quite a bit from them.
Exactly same thing happened with me but it was Qnet. They fool you to dream with open eyes and they say to earn you have to spend first. I added my two best friend into this business. I feel very guilty about it.

The controversy seems to be the biased of the video. For those of us that have witness success and more than recouped our investment, just seems uneducated. So many of the entrepreneurs you showcase support and promote direct selling and network marketing. Are you calling them victims and ignorant? Every company with a CEO and employees under them that'll never get that tittle is a pyramid. Every franchise purchased requires an investment. Network marketers, franchise owners, and consultants are definitely not entrepreneurs or CEOs. We're brand ambassadors. Like you! You share information with the world on education, luxury, growth, and lavish lifestyle. You make sure that we understand that this lifestyle is not for everyone, only for those that work for it and make it happen. You also get paid by other companies to market their products. Network marketing has the fattest widespread rate of creating 6 figure income earners and millionaires. It is not for everyone. Only for those who do the work. Yes, the rate of success is based on effort, discipline, education, cold market, willingness to get rejected and without beating yourself up when you don't get the sales. Maybe reach out to people who have changed their life in the past year through network marketing, ask them about their investment, and if it was loss? ALUX is love this Channel so much that it saddens to see you promote this video. I completely understand your opinion but I think your video was just bashing MLM without saying anything positive at all. It just sounded very bias in my opinion. I still like your channel but I please make sure you do a thorough research. Who knows, maybe do another video part 2 in the future.
I love alux but I disagree with the opinion here about mlm because I was with Legal Sheild for about 1 1/2 yr and I learned more in that time there than I did in any professional setting including school. There's alot of fear in selling which is why many people struggle in networkmarketing. Robert Kiyosaki have said the best comments on mlm companies.
So, did I miss something or was the question about MLM and Network Markerting Companies being worth it? If there are companies operating as pyramid schemes disguised as Network Marketing, then make it known people need to be able to tell the difference. But that doesn’t answer the question at all. There are obviously legit companies in this space as mentioned briefly in the video and the question as I read it was, are those companies worth it.
2014: I was a college kid looking for internship and wasnt having good luck. See a flyer on campus about a part time business opportunity, the contact was actually an alum. I write him and he asks me to lunch. He tells me the speel about an amazing income opportunity, invites to Flushing, Queens. Market America, the Unfranchise business. I didnt know what Amway or MLM was it the time, I was so hyped up I joined after a month. I failed to recruit anyone. The real red flag was that the rules stated 70% of purchases were supposed to be real sales to customers, but the contact showed me that we could falsify member purchases to look like sales. Even after that you feel so ashamed to leave because you dont want to look like a failure or admit you were scammed.
You make right point that MLM companies get resistance in developed countries so, they turn towards developing country to only get money that's their main objective only . They don't think so about product quality or so on

I was part of many MLM schemes but the best one turned out to be FOREVER LIVING which is a USA based company since last 38 years. I feel its acceptable business model as long as the product involved is value for money. Insurance companies work off the same way. The Sales Manager gets over ride commissions from sales of the Sales Executive. MetLife Alico, by American Insurance Group has the same business model.
Prince M. Golds yes, but you dont need to buy the product upfront, In Order to sell it. Does a sales person working at a Car Dealer need to buy the car off the dealership first in order to sell it to the consumer?
This was a very interesting vid. I remember someone held a whole meeting in the hood and invited so many ppl who clearly were not well off to pitch his scheme to. I remember feeling very uneasy at the event but my boyfriend and many others signed up that day and had to make payments on the spot. I didn’t sign up but weeks later my boyfriend started complaining about the scheme and finally able to get out. I don’t quite remember what it took for him to get out but it was a difficult process
This is a total misrepresentation of Network Marketing. The only difference between Newtwork Marketing & Consumerism, is that Network Marketers are Customers that get paid for Our Recommendations, when those Re commendations become sales to The Company; wherein A Regular Consumer gives Free Reviews & Recommendations; but when their Consumer Review & Recommendation turns into A Sale they don't Get Paid. A Legitimate Company With Credible Products paying their Customers for Paying Referrals is not A Scheme or Illegal. That's A LIE.

Of the examples you provided, I am only familiar with Amway. You mentioned at least twice that getting paid to sign people up defines it as a pyramid scheme. However, an "Amway IBO" does not get paid to sign people up. They only get paid off of sales, so I'm confused how you can lump Amway in with the rest. Also, unless I am mistaken, the lawsuits that were settled had nothing to do with the company's actual process, but more so with certain individuals, who are not at the top of the company, misrepresenting the facts.
I joined something called financial education services then complained to the BBB and got my money back. They had the nerve to disguise themselves under financial education.
Very disappointed in the lack of true information in this video and it's either ignorance or outright deceit. 1. "Ponzi Schemes and Pyramid Schemes are NOT synonymous and proves Alux couldn't even be bothered to distinguish the two or learn their difference. 2. Warren Buffett, Robert Kiyosaki, and Donald Trump (just to name a few) have all advocated for MLM and said it's a viable method of creating a business. So there's that. (ie. If they're lying then you shouldn't listen to anything they say about anything) 3. Business are sued for things all the time. It's either illegal or it isn't. Malthizar I think we should refer to pyramid schemes as such and businesses structured like a pyramid, as such. Some don’t offer products that are useful, others do. MLM means the consumer gets paid and that isn’t good for bis business. Every business operates like a pyramid
This video has a big problem: it does not clearly define what is an illegal Ponzi and a legal pyramid sales organisation... Ponzi is easy to describe: You get high(!) amounts for signing in new people what cost them HIGH(!) amounts of money... and there is no real product to sell besides membership... the other version what is controversial is the "frontstuffing" - means you have to buy big(!) amounts of products of the company to start... there is a legal percentage of products to be sold to the own salesforce compared to the whole sales... i cant remember the number... most of the MLM-companies what I know here in Germany are free to join or have a little of less then 100,-€ for starterpackage... and you get value for that ... shirts or oils etc... so you have something to show and try out yourself... the money is also needed to get the freebee-hunters away... and.. every bigger salesforce has a pyramid-structure... the difference is that the money is not so fair distributed to the lower levels... maybe you get a few bucks for bringing in a new collegue... and the company makes big money if he is good... otherwise they would have paid lots for hunters to find new employees... and if all those who are listed are illegal ponzis, why are they still develop well ?? I would use the term "structured sales" to give it a more unemotional term...
I’m not a part of a network marketing company now, but have been in the past. I think this video is unfairly biased. Very negative information that refuses to acknowledge the positives about the business model. “Pyramid Scheme” is such a silly title, because every company is a pyramid scheme to some extent.

Hahahaha live and learn. I did Amway 2 years ago the only thing I got from this was change my mindset, be more productive and the people around me. I broke up a friendship because of this I want to pay her back.... 2 year later Still working on myself personal growth and working on another business idea from Knowledge Society and Uncle G. Man they use the McDonald’s pitch that got me in, month later I was like..... what!!! there was to many signs so I left life was getting rocky at the time like shit sleeping in hotels but everything work out bouncing back from this setback they going to for this believe that!

I've had so many friends and family members in desperate situations lose money to these MLMs. Pampered chef, Herbalife, Young living, ect Have all scammed hard working people out of money. Got it wrong this time , Alux. Your boss' company is in network marketing. Network means people. Marketing means selling. Alux is making videos to 'sell' content to viewers to buy into what they are selling for views to get paid by Google for views and likes. That's network marketing, ask your boss that. Whichever voice narrator is talking about a specific episode gets paid a salary or a commission to aid and distribute the product for the company. Ceo stills reap off of your effort. That's MLM. Amway is a manufacturer of products that don't believe in traditional marketing through supermarkets and decided to put the power in the small man's hand. Unlike Nestlé and Proctor and Gamble who controls that environment and doesn't profit share. Herbalife has a similar situation and is #2 in the world. Just because there are no ads or media , and bells and whistles, people are in the dark. Amway scamway? This company has paid out over 60 billion to the small man in over it's 60 years on operations. Which other company has done that? Plus the personal development/ leadership advice programs that educate you from books about responsibility, accountability and integrity which is not taught in schools. Back in the late 90s I was a young widow with a bunch of children trying to make it, got in Amway for almost 2 years work hard, didn't make it. try Mary Kay, and I did want to be a Director because I wanted a pink Cadillac, but I found out if you team doesn't keep the sales you loose the cadillac, Lesson learn.
I almost got sucked into Amway. Their 3rd meeting was explaining that I had to pay for their "textbooks." They said it was an investment for my future. I got out in the middle of that meeting, after realizing that I'm basically the customer being squeezed.

This video was a bit harsh and not totally accurate. I've been in MLM for around 10 years and in the last 7 years I started making great money... The problem is most people think it's a get-rich quick scheme and it is most definitely not... these are the people that get in don't apply what they learn hang around for a month or two quit and then bash network marketing... these are also the people that will go to college for 4 years and never make a dime during those four years and come out and still not make any money.. Now don't get me wrong there are some network marketing companies out there that are pyramid schemes but not all of them and I think you were way off base by saying that they are... Everyone is not meant to be an entrepreneur that's why there are employees.. and there's nothing wrong with that.. But just because you didn't put in enough time you didn't apply what you learned and you decided to quit in a month don't bash all network marketing companies. I always hated MLM-based business systems. Yet there are some MLM brands I know, whose products are better than other non-MLM companies. Yet, their main business is people (membership), not products. And what I hate the most about MLM is people involved in this business sacrifice their personalities and force others to join the same business against their will. I know people with great potential wasting their time for this bullsh*t!
A friend of mine from college came up to me saying what are you going to do after college.. same shitty job that will pay you less and break sweat more.. so he set up a meeting with another guy from college unknown to me and talked me into buying a product of Rs.7500 (base product) and said if you join another guys you will get a cut from each of them if they join other guys and showed me rewards how a poor guy bought and a luxurious car working with them.. luckily I didn’t have money and later came to know about Ponzi.. I felt so bad about that friend who even talked his parents into it. Its awkward when I see him anywhere..

I agree with this video and I think it's very bold of you guys to actually name some of the companies. However, how do you counter arguments that the products are actually good and makes a difference in people's life's and can be bought without membership? Even though the prices are obviously inflated to make payment for the 5-6 tiers. I hope you guys will talk about this in the upcoming 30 min video. Good job team Alux.

I am a huge Aluxer fan and have been flowing this channel since it started. They usually educate themselves before posting a video. I was shocked that this was mostly opinionated. There was a huge focus on Ponzi schemes but very little focus on the actual MLM structure. Each industry has legal and illegal characterics. I hope the next video on this topic touches more on the legitimate MLM industry.

Honestly it is very difficult to find legitimacy because the incentive structure on the individual who enters the market is that they need to advertise themselves as a lifestyle and a product of the product. BEcause you are expected to sell to your friends and family, you have to sell them a lie about you and what you're doing. Then you need to coach them to lie to others, all in the hopes that one day that lie you're telling will be true. The backbone of this entire industry is the model laid out by Charles Ponzi, genius scumbag extraordinaire.

My personal experience and from what I could see in the behaviour and characteristics of the most successful people in those companies, lieing to people about an income or lifestyle was not what created their success. Ultimately the people who were successful had to become good at giving effective presentations to others who actually wanted to commit to getting better at the skills of the business and be skilled at helping people believe in themselves (among other skills they possessed). Lieing about anything never worked in the long run from what I could tell. I would really like to hear about your experience with MLM, because I feel that it must be much different than mine.

I started in network marketing in July 2019. I avoided the industry like a plague for 25 yrs. I am an entrepreneur with 30 years experience and had the strong desire to help others become financially free like us (which we did without nwm and big investments). I am really happy I gave this industry a chance. I overtook my sponsor (which shows that it’s not true that newbies don’t stand a chance) and built a decent sized team that pays me a full-time salary. Not millions. A regular salary. A large number of my partners earn really good money, and several have reached the car bonus level. Partners so NOT get paid when signing up a new partner. Please stop spreading this untruth. There are two ways to earn money: commission on the sale of products and a commission on your partner’s product sales. Your partner does nothing? Guess what? You earn nothing! Is that commission coming out of their pocket? No! The company has two accounts. If your volume is 500 pts and that equates to $20 commission, then the same applies to your downline and your upline equally. Your downline doesn’t get $20 minus a commission to their sponsor. That’s just utter nonsense.

I completely understand this point. I think education has something to learn form MLMS in this way. There is too much of a TRUE cost to MLMS for me to support them in any way however. They destroy personal networks, push people to believe in lies through repeating sales lines and loyalty contracts. It's so cultish and wrong. My skin crawls thinking about how it has totally changed good friends into complete business demons and they've never been the same.

I was actually able to quit my corporate job because my commission with my "MLM" was higher...its been residual every month = time freedom. Plus best products ever, awesome community of people I met that are like minded with non toxic living. For me, it is a HUGE blessing!

I am in Amway currently and it’s true what Alux says, only to be honest I haven’t done any work for being lazy and yes I am spending my money.. but the value the business offer actually can improve your life. Their model is you get royalties for buying your own product and teach others the same. Simple and basic. Only the team I work with, we are careful with who we take in our team... because some people are not interested or willing to improve someone’s life and educate them how the world works.

Ohh Anurag, you're not in the same field of logic my friend.
If you are an affiliate marketer, yes you get a commission when I buy from you. You don't have an incentive to build a false lifestyle to commit me to want to sell with you.
Within network marketing you have the incentive to build a contrived lifestyle that you use to push products on your friends and family and social network. You don't make much from each product sale (less than in affiliate marketing) but if you convince me to join you get a cut of my sales, which helps with the quarterly volume requirements you might have. BUt now I'm in that same position as you were, so I need to find more people to alleviate the pressure. But each new person I add to the business has that same amount of pressure (it is not lessened as it is spread across to new entrants). Overtime this virus propogates throughout the economy. If you entered early in the market you're making a good stream of income, but at a cost to those beneath you that are months in debt to a model that is destroying them financially and socially. They have an altered mindset that makes it difficult for them to want to re-enter the workforce. Their credit cards are maxed out, but at least they get to be with their "friends" three times a week.

Alux kinda messed up with their definition of MLM. The whole reason MLM exist is because someone saw a need to spend advertising via word of mouth vs through commercials and other media. Word of mouth is the most effective way to advertise. It’s a proven fact. Essentially what’s happening is your being paid to refer people’s spending from one company to another via interpersonal communication. Your essentially a marketing company of your own. Your building your brand by showing others then can have success. I’d now I’ve been around the environment and have learned a lot of success principles. Frankly, I don’t expect Alux to understand because they see a small picture of the large overview.
If you join them at the view of the bigger picture you will see that the MLM model is grafted onto the pyramid scheme of old. It's more sustainable because it creates a buyers club of committed individuals for a relatively uncompetitive product.
What you say is correct, but again it all is supporting the OG business starter. The only people making money in the MLM industry is those who started the MLM business or joined when they opened into new markets. Anyone who joins these large companies at this point only stand a chance of making money if people in the upper portions of the org. get shocked out in some way. I have been working with people studying this for 30 years. It's difficult to break through the mentality of these businesses because they train their distributors 3-4 times a week on building a mindset that convinces them they will be successful. As others have referenced this exposure to business operations can build transferable skills and do offer an alternative form of business education (a point I agree with Kiyosaki on), but I hold the opinion that the cost is too great. I am committed to educating more people about this cost because the deceptive practices of this industry are far and above the worst I've ever seen in business.
Zach Kessler so why do multi national brands use celebrities and other people of influence to market their products? Rarely do you see the CEO of a company (including companies such as Amway or Herbalife) make a compelling reason to buy his companies products directly to consumers. What interest me most, is how these private label products stack up against everyday consumer branded products you can purchase at your supermarket. There needs to be completely independent research published, in order to create a real value proposition for the product being marketed.

For a Ponzi scheme there is no products or services. Literally the money of the new comers serves to pay the previous ones and so on.
MLM on the other hand has a real product or service that people can use and get value out of it, real identifiable offices with real people in the company. People pay for the products and services, no matter if they are in as IBO or as customer.
You seem to touch base on it at the end. MLM is all about commission paid on volume sold, What ever the way, how many layers, what are the rates, etc.
Commission on your own sales is like employee. You get to business owner by your leadership work in mentoring other people to grow their own business.

Issues we had was the fact that was revealed later was the "upline" (from Direct onwards) was actually making money from the tapes, books, and functions). To really build a long lasting business, you really needed to make your mlm a primary priority. You can do anything but you can not do everything. Tracking where alot of these emeralds and diamonds are now, we see where alot of divorces, and a number of what appeared to be extremely profitable mlms no longer exist. The teaching from WWDB that you can build it to the extent that you can retire and do nothing is not true. Even as a diamond and higher, one must continue to work the business. Yes at the higher pins , you now have leverage to your advantage. But your business will die at any level if you are not vigilant. There are tapes and recordings of Rich Devos warning of the emphasis of " tapes, books and functions" and what it could lead to. There is so much more I could give. I also believe that " cult of personality" and the basic cult-like environment," the use of religion" "the health and wealth prosperity doctrine" were very abnormal and bizarre.

In my experience with Amway they specifically told us we get a percentage of whatever the people under us sell then also told us that we HAD to replace all our typical home products with their products in order to make “the most” out or it. Not once did they try to show me how to run my own ”e-commerce” store since they were to busy trying to go through all my contacts to call every single body on my phone to see if they wanted to join this “great opportunity”. Seriously I’m glad I didn’t continue with the process. They also don’t mention how much money & time you’re going to waste on their meetings, conferences, out of town crap & so on that you don’t even make money to cover all that if you don’t have people under you.

I personally don't like MLM businesses, but I don't agree with this video either. I think MLMs use LEVERAGE, As does any other smart business person. You use others UNDER you to help increase the revenue of your business. Does the bank teller make as much money as the president of the bank? No. Does the Registered Nurse or even the Doctor make as much as the Hospital CEO? HELL no. A worker at JCP or MAC sells products making $9 an hr. You think the CEO, COO or CFO are making $9 an hr?? A lady at grocery store stopped me and asked certain question like what product do you use for your hair , I like your hair..... and she wanted to be a friend she told me she is a doctor and work long hour along with her husband and she told me she is happy to have a coffee with me at a beginning it feels wired then she asked me what I was doing for living and promised me her brother is in my field could give me a job or she can connect me with some people she has network with. I was skeptical at the beginning then meet up for coffee talked about life and she gave me a book title to read and discuss next time. We met next time and discuss about the book and she gave me another title for a book to read and discuss I agreed and she told me her mentor can meet with me and her and he is a millionaire he wants to give back since some one had helped him when he was warning a decent Job but wasn't satisfied with life I believed her because she drove 40 min to meet me once a week now the milllioniere friend mentor of her came with here discuss about the book called The compound effect and after that they told me to read the book called The business of 21 century by Robert Kiyosak we met up and discuss about it after that they told me about the business and next day I went to their meeting I was so confused by the fact they are trying to get me to the business. At the beginning they told me how they are trying to help me as the book go giver preaches about. I was so disappointed the fact they deceived me.

Any business or profession has its own pros and cons. I can agree with you at what you say that they are “wanna be entrepreneurs” but that’s the point. Even if you play basketball and you want to join NBA not everyone who wish to play will get drafted, not everyone in NBA will be a starting player or a superstar, only a few because it involves a lot of practice, studying and shit of work. Here a tip to detect a pyramid scheme in 1 minute :
First type :
A person you do not know come to you on the street congratulating you for something and right away tell you that they have this opportunity you can not miss but will not tell you what it is and hand you his / her number.
Second type :
Some one you just just know from someone else (the kind of person you meet on the street, greet him / her then move on... That person out of the blue reach you and tell you that they have a meeting about assurance / financing / education... But refuse to give you more details and push hard for you to come with them claiming it will only take you 30 minutes...
Third type :
Some one you know well ask you to go somewhere with them because they have been invited to an info session about becoming their own boss and are asked to bring people with them but themselves do not have much info about it.
The one thing that always here is the blurry part, I mean the fact that they will never give you much info but push you to go promising you that this is the best opportunity of your life, sometimes showing you a video about people saying that this thing (will never tell what thing is it...) changed their life...
Way too many people (especially minority) fall for that because they want more money...
I have been approached countless of time by them, always amazed how many people still get scammed... But I am the worst potential customer because even in store my one word is "NO".

I was a religious follower of your channel ' ALUX ' until I found out this video. Network marketing is good and people are changing their lifestyles because of this industry. Don't spread hate please. Yes, I agree there are few ponzi schemes but not all. If u see many real time entreprenuers promote network marketing.
I worked at a place for three years and in that time my practice manager repeatedly, over that time, wanted me to get on board. I was even pushed into attending an introduction night where she tried to sell the scheme, bullshit products, to a handful of us. I resisted. My instinct, my bank account and total dislike of her helped me to put her off. So many liars and manipulators out there.

Generally when MLM people approach you they never sell a product rather just membership, even if they offer a product it is really a over priced and extremely low quality product.

Help me to think about what I want in life and what to do with my life. I own more books, audiobooks ever then before that because Tai L. put me onto that, started 2 businesses both fail but still investing in my brain and body first an creating a foundation before I start focusing businesses and investments. Lose a friend, finding out who your true friends are, homeless for 2 weeks, cutting people, heading to the gym 3x a week, eating healthy, educating myself in the world of money relationships, psychology, human body and other things. So yeah best investment I ever made 👍🏾 Amway thanks for opening my world that I thought I knew!
If you have to put in money to increase you earnings, its an MLM....". Really? What exactly do you think makes people go to Universities then? So an average student paying over $100,000 of College Tuition on average, ending up with $35,000 in student loans (which doubles to $70,000 by the time they pay it off) and gets a starting salary of $45,000 barely saving any money at the end of the month to repay their student loans is not having to pay to earn money? Wow.... schools and colleges have really done a good job of brainwashing you to accept that. We are all part of a pyramid scheme... its called society. 97% of us work for someone else and then wonder how the 3% are richer than the rest of us combined. People above us will always profit off our success until we get promoted ourselves and then success of people below us at work increases our reputation. I don't hear people complaining then. Everything's a scam until you realize that your whole life is one and you are stuck in the hands of power of the top 3% irrelevant of whether you work a regular job or an MLM.
One that happened to approach me years ago I felt shaky about how it was run. The MLM had a policy telling me that I wasn't allowed to tell anyone I recruited about the business until the recruit got to the "interview" because "they could tell them more than I could due to lack of experience!" Also how I could easily make a few hundred a week in short time without any real explanation on where I would find clientele or would get defensive anytime I questioned the higher up people. The recruiter told my dad he loved targeting younger people especially in college because their jaws drop to the idea of how much money could be earned in "short time." This was in 2012 when the economy was bad and people struggled to find even part time jobs.
This is a total misrepresentation of Network Marketing. The only difference between Newtwork Marketing & Consumerism, is that Network Marketers are Customers that get paid for Our Recommendations, when those Re commendations become sales to The Company; wherein A Regular Consumer gives Free Reviews & Recommendations; but when their Consumer Review & Recommendation turns into A Sale they don't Get Paid.
A Legitimate Company With Credible Products paying their Customers for Paying Referrals is not A Scheme or Illegal. That's A LIE.
Then why did Mr. Robert kiyosaki wrote a separate book on network marketing. This is based on research i did when I heard about network marketing. People are going mad about network marketing. More information is available on fb and Instagram with the profile name Eric worre, these guys worship network marketing.

Kiyosaki and Worre are business men. Would you not leverage the opportunity to tap into a network grasping for legitimacy? There are nearly 18 million Americans sold on this scam. There are countless more around the world doing the same. Seeing how long this industry has been around, and seeing how hopeless it is to pull those in it, out, they have offered their names to build large profiles in the industry. In return for offering this legitimacy (which is a huge currency when you business is selling lies and dreams) they get huge sums for speaking engagements and a market that is committed to buying their publications and watching their videos.
You did not clearly explained about the legitimate mlm business, so plz do another video giving some references for legitimate mlm companies and the advantages in this direct selling Industry

Mlm works only if you can ALWAYS find new 3 people to convince but macro-economically it makes no sense because in the end all are sellers and none is a consumer (huge supply with minimum demand). One may be good at sales and that's great but not all are, hence it is hard earn money using the MLM technique. It is better to sell the products directly which you could do anyway with any other company pretty much. I wish I had someone to explain it to me when I was approached. If you want to make money you need to offer something that holds value to people. It is then better to dedicate time to learn how can I increase the value of whatever I'm offering. Thanks Alux once more for providing high quality content instead of what people want to hear.

I strongly disagree with this one. I buy a couple services from a few of these companies which over the years have saved me thousands of dollars. Why not add in a real estate agent? It cost me a lot to get licensed to build a team and I have to pay every month even when I don’t make a dime unless my team and I generate enough to offset the expenses. You also left out Aflac to go with Primeamerica, Renatus, and Financial Education Services to mention a few. We are all in a pyramid scheme in one way or another and don’t even realize it. Think about it, does your business have monthly expenses even if you don’t produce which would eventually put you under. Like for example, how long can you sit with zero income before even the utilities would put you in the red?

It is a matter of degree. In the insurance business as an independent agent you are getting a percentage of the brokerage or Aggregator. I would not call this a pyramid
Scheme but it does have multiple levels.
There's a difference between paying for your business to keep going and being forced to continually buy product that you can't possibly sell. These MLMs use a lot of manipulation tactics to keep people in and surrending their money. There are plenty of differences, I'm sorry they couldn't cover everything in 8 minutes.

They liked my enthusiasm - I was with Quixstar and Amway and Usana. I really didn't like so many of their products. It was funny when they did not say their business name right away or they had a family name like Harris Production to mask that they were actually Amway or another company. They told me to make money I have to spend money, but when I got my paychecks they weren't worth sht. When I got into Quixstar, I didn't have a job and to get in, it was go time, bug bug bug time, sell sell sell, call call call, ugh but I did it and I learned a lot about the business model and they spent quite a bit of time trying to prove that they were not a ponzi scheme. In the end, I am not a pushy kinda guy and I got out of all three. I do like Amways vitamins, that is all I liked. Usana was OK, but where I lived at the time, no one was buying and I was working full time and I didn't feel like kicking ass with the biz, but I did learn quite a bit from them.
Exactly same thing happened with me but it was Qnet. They fool you to dream with open eyes and they say to earn you have to spend first. I added my two best friend into this business. I feel very guilty about it.

Maybe reach out to people who have changed their life in the past year through network marketing, ask them about their investment, and if it was loss?

I completely understand your opinion but I think your video was just bashing MLM without saying anything positive at all. It just sounded very bias in my opinion. I love alux but I disagree with the opinion here about mlm because I was with Legal Sheild for about 1 1/2 yr and I learned more in that time there than I did in any professional setting including school. There's alot of fear in selling which is why many people struggle in networkmarketing. Robert Kiyosaki have said the best comments on mlm companies.
Please make one video about the difference between direct selling and pyramid scheme , and show which companies follow the direct selling .
So, did I miss something or was the question about MLM and Network Markerting Companies being worth it? If there are companies operating as pyramid schemes disguised as Network Marketing, then make it known people need to be able to tell the difference. But that doesn’t answer the question at all. There are obviously legit companies in this space as mentioned briefly in the video and the question as I read it was, are those companies worth it.

2014: I was a college kid looking for internship and wasnt having good luck. See a flyer on campus about a part time business opportunity, the contact was actually an alum. I write him and he asks me to lunch. He tells me the speel about an amazing income opportunity, invites to Flushing, Queens. Market America, the Unfranchise business. I didnt know what Amway or MLM was it the time, I was so hyped up I joined after a month. I failed to recruit anyone. The real red flag was that the rules stated 70% of purchases were supposed to be real sales to customers, but the contact showed me that we could falsify member purchases to look like sales. Even after that you feel so ashamed to leave because you dont want to look like a failure or admit you were scammed.
You make right point that MLM companies get resistance in developed countries so, they turn towards developing country to only get money that's their main objective only . They don't think so about product quality or so on

I was part of many MLM schemes but the best one turned out to be FOREVER LIVING which is a USA based company since last 38 years. I feel its acceptable business model as long as the product involved is value for money. Insurance companies work off the same way. The Sales Manager gets over ride commissions from sales of the Sales Executive. MetLife Alico, by American Insurance Group has the same business model.

This was a very interesting vid. I remember someone held a whole meeting in the hood and invited so many ppl who clearly were not well off to pitch his scheme to. I remember feeling very uneasy at the event but my boyfriend and many others signed up that day and had to make payments on the spot. I didn’t sign up but weeks later my boyfriend started complaining about the scheme and finally able to get out. I don’t quite remember what it took for him to get out but it was a difficult process

WOW! There goes half of your followers, i am no longer in my "pyramid" but i will say not recognizing that a corporate structure is a pyramid is a red flag on your end. Also in the company i was in i never tried to recruit only sold the service(legalshield) and made a great part-time income. Im sure the person above me was happy like any assistant manager or CEO would be in the corporate structure, but nonetheless made great income, networking, and above all personal development. Just access to lawfirm for small monthly fee, then you got paid either upfront year(chargeback risk) or monthly. Thats it period, but somehow thats a scheme.

Of the examples you provided, I am only familiar with Amway. You mentioned at least twice that getting paid to sign people up defines it as a pyramid scheme. However, an "Amway IBO" does not get paid to sign people up. They only get paid off of sales, so I'm confused how you can lump Amway in with the rest. Also, unless I am mistaken, the lawsuits that were settled had nothing to do with the company's actual process, but more so with certain individuals, who are not at the top of the company, misrepresenting the facts.

1. "Ponzi Schemes and Pyramid Schemes are NOT synonymous and proves Alux couldn't even be bothered to distinguish the two or learn their difference.
2. Warren Buffett, Robert Kiyosaki, and Donald Trump (just to name a few) have all advocated for MLM and said it's a viable method of creating a business. So there's that. (ie. If they're lying then you shouldn't listen to anything they say about anything)
3. Business are sued for things all the time. It's either illegal or it isn't. Many legit pyramid schemes have been shut down because they were legit pyramid schemes (There isn't a product and you make money solely on the number of people you bring in.)

Malthizar I think we should refer to pyramid schemes as such and businesses structured like a pyramid, as such. Some don’t offer products that are useful, others do. MLM means the consumer gets paid and that isn’t good for bis business. Every business operates like a pyramid

This video has a big problem: it does not clearly define what is an illegal Ponzi and a legal pyramid sales organisation... Ponzi is easy to describe: You get high(!) amounts for signing in new people what cost them HIGH(!) amounts of money... and there is no real product to sell besides membership... the other version what is controversial is the "frontstuffing" - means you have to buy big(!) amounts of products of the company to start... there is a legal percentage of products to be sold to the own salesforce compared to the whole sales... i cant remember the number... most of the MLM-companies what I know here in Germany are free to join or have a little of less then 100,-€ for starterpackage... and you get value for that ... shirts or oils etc... so you have something to show and try out yourself... the money is also needed to get the freebee-hunters away... and.. every bigger salesforce has a pyramid-structure... the difference is that the money is not so fair distributed to the lower levels... maybe you get a few bucks for bringing in a new collegue... and the company makes big money if he is good... otherwise they would have paid lots for hunters to find new employees... and if all those who are listed are illegal ponzis, why are they still develop well ?? Very negative information that refuses to acknowledge the positives about the business model. “Pyramid Scheme” is such a silly title, because every company is a pyramid scheme to some extent.

I've had so many friends and family members in desperate situations lose money to these MLMs. Pampered chef, Herbalife, Young living, ect Have all scammed hard working people out of money. Plus I hate how they sell it like it's your own business when your just working for someone else, too. I really appreciate you guys trying to save others from getting into these horrible business.
Maam you are misleading the people from this video. Direct selling is different from mlm scheme. Maam please do a proper survey and also make a nice video on mlm direct selling business.

Alux can believe what they want, but like I said, it makes me question everything else they've posted now that they've messed up so bad on this one so I'm unsubscribing. The controversy seems to be the biased of the video. For those of us that have witness success and more than recouped our investment, just seems uneducated. So many of the entrepreneurs you showcase support and promote direct selling and network marketing. Are you calling them victims and ignorant?
Every company with a CEO and employees under them that'll never get that tittle is a pyramid.

You share information with the world on education, luxury, growth, and lavish lifestyle. You make sure that we understand that this lifestyle is not for everyone, only for those that work for it and make it happen. You also get paid by other companies to market their products. And sharing those adds with the network of followers you have. Same thing every time some one gets a free audible book through your link. Right?
Network marketing has the fattest widespread rate of creating 6 figure income earners and millionaires. It is not for everyone. Only for those who do the work.
Yes, the rate of success is based on effort, discipline, education, cold market, willingness to get rejected and without beating yourself up when you don't get the sales. You get back what you put in. And you'll get compensated accordingly.
Maybe reach out to people who have changed their life in the past year through network marketing, ask them about their investment, and if it was loss?

Your boss' company is in network marketing. Network means people. Marketing means selling. Alux is making videos to 'sell' content to viewers to buy into what they are selling for views to get paid by Google for views and likes.
That's network marketing, ask your boss that.
Whichever voice narrator is talking about a specific episode gets paid a salary or a commission to aid and distribute the product for the company.

Amway is a manufacturer of products that don't believe in traditional marketing through supermarkets and decided to put the power in the small man's hand. Unlike Nestlé and Proctor and Gamble who controls that environment and doesn't profit share.
Herbalife has a similar situation and is #2 in the world.
Just because there are no ads or media , and bells and whistles, people are in the dark. Amway scamway? This company has paid out over 60 billion to the small man in over it's 60 years on operations.
Which other company has done that?
Plus the personal development/ leadership advice programs that educate you from books about responsibility, accountability and integrity which is not taught in schools.

Back in the late 90s I was a young widow with a bunch of children trying to make it, got in Amway for almost 2 years work hard, didn't make it. try Mary Kay, and I did want to be a Director because I wanted a pink Cadillac, but I found out if you team doesn't keep the sales you loose the cadillac, Lesson learn.
I almost got sucked into Amway. Their 3rd meeting was explaining that I had to pay for their "textbooks." They said it was an investment for my future. I got out in the middle of that meeting, after realizing that I'm basically the customer being squeezed.

If you want success in any business give 3 to 5 years either traditional or MLM industry. If you can't or willing to spend time n resources your best place is to do slavery. If you are greedy n dreamless you will fail in every kind of business. If you are chicken you will be chicken you cannot be an eagle.

This video was a bit harsh and not totally accurate. I've been in MLM for around 10 years and in the last 7 years I started making great money...
The problem is most people think it's a get-rich quick scheme and it is most definitely not... these are the people that get in don't apply what they learn hang around for a month or two quit and then bash network marketing... these are also the people that will go to college for 4 years and never make a dime during those four years and come out and still not make any money..
Now don't get me wrong there are some network marketing companies out there that are pyramid schemes but not all of them and I think you were way off base by saying that they are...
Everyone is not meant to be an entrepreneur that's why there are employees.. and there's nothing wrong with that..
But just because you didn't put in enough time you didn't apply what you learned and you decided to quit in a month don't bash all network marketing companies. I make a great living with network marketing... it's just not for everyone😉👌

I always hated MLM-based business systems. Yet there are some MLM brands I know, whose products are better than other non-MLM companies. Yet, their main business is people (membership), not products. And what I hate the most about MLM is people involved in this business sacrifice their personalities and force others to join the same business against their will.
I know people with great potential wasting their time for this bullsh*t!
A friend of mine from college came up to me saying what are you going to do after college.. same shitty job that will pay you less and break sweat more.. so he set up a meeting with another guy from college unknown to me and talked me into buying a product of Rs.7500 (base product) and said if you join another guys you will get a cut from each of them if they join other guys and showed me rewards how a poor guy bought and a luxurious car working with them.. luckily I didn’t have money and later came to know about Ponzi.. I felt so bad about that friend who even talked his parents into it. Its awkward when I see him anywhere..
