Great video on assembly of this motor, actually the best one on the net. Good tip on greasing the bearing surfaces so o rings seat. I couldn’t figure out why my cases didn’t seat.
2 stroke pistons have the pin to locate the ring gap, because you do not want the ring gap rotating into one of the barrel ports. When the rings wear and the pin is eroded they can slip which is often why worn 2 strokes seize/break rings. Another tip for people like me, who aren't as lucky, or perhaps dexterous as Kentucky Yankee, is to stuff the crankcase openings with rags before putting the cir-clips into the pistons to hold the little end rod/bearing in place, if they drop into the cases you could really have a problem retrieving them and may have to take the cases back apart to retrieve them. As a GT500 owner I found this video great viewing, really enjoyed the crank seal replacement one as well
MAN where was this series when I was rebuilding my 75 titan a year ago? This is the only, AND the best video on building a t500 motor on youtube. Great job, and thanks for sharing your hard work!
clever man, well done - IMO - I would place the retainer in the crankshaft towards the front, it may have something to do with the down thrust of the engine when running - an un proven theory as I say, only my opinion
Another good job, my friend! I had heard of "Vapor Blasting" but am not familiar with it. Did you take the oppertunity to record some when you picked up your parts? That would make an interesting video. Do you seal the aluminum to keep that nice bright finish? That engine is going to look new when you're finished. Keep up the quality work. Very well done. Dave
Thanks Dave, yeah I think they make something to seal it with. No footage picking up parts this time, maybe next time thanks for checking in good to hear from you!
Good afternoon! which year of manufacture of this suzuki t 500 i have a 1972 I need to change the clutch discs I'm just in doubt about the model of the discs, because it seems to me that from 1971 to 1975 the discs have 12 teeth and the previous years 18 teeth
My brother has a T500. He once mentioned that the 5th gear is poorly lubed and that a modification has to be done to fix that. Is it that, what you're talking about? I don't have a T500, myself. Just interested.
@@peterdoe2617 Yes 4th and 5th gear will suffer from lack of oil during high speed over a long time. This was corrected by Suzuki from 1973 and up. By adding a oil dam 18mm higher, and 1,4 liter oil in the gearbox. 🙂

Love your videos, just finished my 83’ KX80 full oem resto and I get my 74’ mr50 tomorrow, arriving from across the country. Pretty excited
Thanks! The Mr50 I had was really cool loved it!
Can't wait to hear it run. keep up the good work and thanks for posting your progress.
Thanks John, this one has been quite the project, will be good to hear it run the first time!
How's she goin'? I'm enjoying watching you rebuild this engine!! Take care!!
Awesome video!!!! I need to start my project asap! My t500 is sitting in my garage for about 3 years now.
Better get with it, nice weather just around the corner!
Keep it up. Super cool
Thanks for watching!
Keep going man
Thanks I try

Hello KY, I liked the video. Thank you for sharing

What’s more fun - building it or riding it after having built it?
Hmmm....... all of it, you know that motorped 🧙♂️!
Kentucky Yankee dang fine job! You are making me work harder on that darn Chappy! Will I ever get it off the bench?
@@jackrutherford-1 Thanks! Yep you will get done!
How much did the vapor blasting cost?
It's affordable, I couldn't give exact cost because a friend helped me out.
hi Yankee ,I'm not getting any beep at neutral, even with a new switch. Any idea where to look for the reason ?
It has to be the mechanical part that triggers the switch is my guess.

Far as I know this is a 1972
You forgot the oil dam modification?
I know I will have to go back into it this winter

@@machjan Thank you so much for this information!
@@peterdoe2617 Better explained her. This is a big issue for T500's pre - 73. ozebook.com/suzi/2017/10/13/suzuki-t500-gearbox-oil-level-modification/
That motor red lines at 7000 rpm.
