Nice landing and looks like you didn't have to walk too far, always a plus!

Wow! You got kind of lucky there wasn't a fire. It could be just a straight defect but if you got too much prop your motor could have gotten so hot it melted the glue holding the magnets in place.

Yea, I even kicked up the throttle a bit in flight before I knew what was wrong- i'm sure it was a bit sparky up there, lol At one point the OSD dropped out--- Stock 8x5 prop

I had a esc blow up on my HK bixler about a month right after takeoff, luckily it was a soft landing since the plane was only about 3 meters up and had enough speed to glide down. Half of the canopy split in to several tiny pieces and the fuselage was ripped halfway in the location where the canopy sits. Some glue should make that airworthy though. So anyway I ordered a new esc rated for 10A more just to be safe, installed it 2 days ago and only after giving it throttle I realized the motor was also done, so I opened it up and found several loose magnets and windings. That's the story of why I am gonna be waiting a few more weeks to get a new motor lol.

the only thing i can think of it was NOT the stock ESC it was rated for 50A, stock I believe is 25A, probably how they avoid this issue on a mass scale with some sort of cutoff or different timing. Lesson learned, ordered a higher quality motor and going to 6S.
