I think it looks so much better. And also, it’s mental stimulation for the fish, and the natural behavior comes out. A bare bottom tank is like floating around in space without a purpose or goal. Beautiful fish and great size tank!👍
Putting sand in goldfish aquarium can be a risky move and a hard move the goldfish could swallow sand when they eat the food at the bottom and with sand its harder for them to see the food
If you think this works for you its fine. But when you need to filter over 50 kilos of sand, I put it into a bucket and fill it for 1/4 with sand. Then get a gardenhose so you are able to add fresh water constantly. Watch out you dont add the water to hard so sand could get flushed with the water. Move your hand though the sand untill you are able to see the bottom/sand clearly so you lost all the dust who needs to be removed, of course...
I always hear goldfish are very hardy but everytime I add goldfish to my aquarium they all die within a few weeks, I have fish in other tanks that are considered way less hardy and keep them for years without any issue
ArMantou goldfish have always been hard for me just because they are very very dirty fish. They require constant ph checks & water changes. Everyone says they’re “beginner fish” but I don’t believe it at all.
@@antswearingpants19 yes, I have had so many types of fish and never had any problem, I cycle the tank before, let them slowly acclimate to the new water temperature, don't add many at a time to avoid ammonia spikes, etc it's just no matter what I do they're so fragile and die after a few weeks, I think the begginner goldfish must be the common ones because the fancy type are very difficult to keep for me
If the water flows through will easily make the water cloudy and how you put the sand into the plastic bag if the bag got a incision on top and bottom?

what kind of filtration did you use before you add the sand? i have a problem with goldfish poop that stays at the tank.. Nice video and cute goldfish😁
Let me tell you that it's totally normal. A sanitized and crystal clean tank is totally unnatural. The poo converts to fertilizer for the plants (which I hope you have in your tank).
When changing water you can use the tube to suck up the poop. It’s quite simple and if you have gravel or anything at the bottom just put it back in after cleaning the tank.
@@xXChaeraXx consistency. with all choices we have out there, we need to focus on essentials. in goldfish, ranchu is simplicity and it is well represented in the tank concept.
I have annubias and anacharis and my rayukin and fancy goldfish have never tried them they might or might not doesnt hurt to try you only risk losing a few bucks to have better water quality for years the reward is greater than the risk
Latasha Hairston i feel like maybe if they put the disclaimer in saying the fish will eat the plants , maybe they've already tried live plants and it just didn't work . ya never know
I already remove the sand from my aquarium, because the fish poop will blend in with the sand and after long time it make the water become murky. Also small worms start to appear.
Ronnie Goenawan That doesn’t happen if you gravel clean once a week. I do biweekly water changes and gravel clean both days, never had a problem with my sand 🤷♀️
@@shannonmaslen442 yes I know but it would be a bit harder to do and took time to clean. Also we have to temporary remove the fish from the tank. But i admit my aquarium is not very beautiful as it was with the sands.
Keep in mind some of those worms are totally normal and healthy to have in tank. A natural clean up crew, the worms may actually be helping clean the sand (be sure to research, as some are parasitic and should be taken care of)
So is sand actually healthier for them? Also how do you clean it out when they go to the bathroom? I struggle with cleaning my fish tank sometimes. I use aquarium rocks and thought about switching to something else.
However, it’s much more practical to not have plants as goldfish eat them faster than they can grow and it’s not maintainable in most aquariums. Goldfish do fine in empty aquariums and they often cut themselves on objects and things in their tank. I used to have a planted tank with lots of things in it and despite the nice look it had, it was incredibly hard to keep with my goldfish. Moss in my opinion is a good thing to add but depends on the fish and the type of moss. Some plants are too rough or hard to be eaten but if in that case there’s not much point to them other than decor. If they’re kept in a pond then I would recommend plants as shade and etc but in a tank it’s not that necessary unless you want to breed them or something in which case spawning mops work just fine. I’ve had many different types of tanks for goldfish as well as other fish but for fish like these they don’t need all the extra decor. If you want a more full and decorated tank, maybe opt for comets or a basic goldfish or even guppies. Fancy goldfish like this hurt themselves too often on decor.
I certainly prefer sand over gravel myself I'll never go back to gravel sand looks so much better and I don't even have to vacuum it i like having a DSB in my tanks
I love how the goldfish are checking the sand and rocks out when you were putting them in the tank. The best recommended video to start my day with 🐟💖

Yeah saying they're beginner fish is misleading. They require over-filtration, large aquariums and frequent water changes to see them thrive.
The only beginner fisb there is either Neon Tetra or Guppys, maybe maybe tiger barbs( the small ones) but they fight if stressed.

,,,,theyre just normal basins.
That makes the aquarium look calm and soothing. Great work.
But how will you clean the aquarium? Will you remove the Sand everytime ??
You can siphon it just like how you clean/siphon gravel. The sand is heavy enough to stay down.
