It’s always interesting to watch how things are done in other countries. Here in the UK most of our emergency lighting has local test switches, often found close to the standard light switches. These test switches are recessed so you need a key to operate them.

As mentioned by others is always interesting to see how things are done in different countries. I'm in Australia and we (also being a Commonwealth country) use the green ISO running man exit signs. We have some twin head emergency fittings used in larger areas but use small round (now LED) fittings in ceiling grids. An old brand which has become generic is called spitfires. They are either wired to lighting supply circuit in the area they are fitted or more commonly are connected back to a common control board that has a test button and a timer. The newest types can self test and show different warning LED colours or can have signalling to a building management system

When they did that major renovation to this building, they should have started from scratch in the electrical side of things!

There's been a bunch of somewhat major renovations but none ever of the whole building at once other than seismic upgrade there's been probably 100 of renovations over the years of the buildings life and the thought has crossed my mind as well of what if you just ripped everything out and restarted but I would assume it's not practical to do so

In UK most lighting is labled which fuseborad and circuit, yes it's a pain to labled each light, but when up grades are done and testing makes you job easy.
Each stair well in UK is marked A B C D E F when on a site map.

Cool video. At the school I go to a cage was beat up so the next day we got a new one and it was smaller because they don't make big cages anymore so we had to replace the remote head too for a smaller one.

46:20 That's a double bass. The bow should be run across the string over the gap between the finger board and the bridge. The finger board is the black thing that you played above, and the bridge is the light wood structure that holds up the strings.

If this building was sprinklered since the original building, did it have older sprinkler head’s before these, or were they the original sprinkler heads?

    • @nics-systems-electric

Sprinklers were installed with the seismic upgrade project in 2015 along with a new fire alarm system and new boilers as well as major structural changes with walls being removed and sheer walls being added the renovation talked about in this video was done in 2020

question you said some of those breakers would blow up in your face if you flipped them on, being an electrician why wouldn't you pop the panel cover off and remove the wire from the breaker so someone can't accidentally turn it on not knowing? just curious.

It would be a less stylish. We have a middle school from 1968 that is like a time capsule because it was never renovated all this time. This looks to be a well funded school district, that music room is better equipped than ours.

The few weeks ago I was at a fair and I went into one of the areas (called toon town, it was creepy in there), and there was an emergency light that was flickering and clicking, also to mention in the mirror fun house they had an emergency light with the heads removed and there wasn’t any remote heads nearby
