I just love this one. You can see his mastery of the language without making it overly verbose. It's awesome.

As a retired teacher, an admirer of Jesse Stuart’s writings, and a native Southern Appalachian by birth ( East Tn), I am loving this book and look forward to the readings. I have lived in VA Beach for 40 years, but I still sound like an Appalachian- especially when I talk to my family on the phone, visit home, or listen to you. 😊 Your channel is a blessing to my mountain soul. ❤️

This book is going to be one that ends too fast every Friday for me. SO easy to get caught up in the story as you read his descriptive words.

Thanks so much for the reading, Tipper. I felt so bad for Jesse when those guys threw rotten eggs and rotten vegetables at him. I don’t think he will ever go on another blind date again. I can’t wait to find out what happens. Have a great weekend.

My grandpa told all is kids about the man in the moon on a hot summer nite with a full moon shining bright setting out on the big front porch.while our moms and dads loaded the cars for the drive back home down lover's leap Mt in Patrick county VA. When you read that Tipper I was right back to that 9 year old little girl, thanks so very much for bringing back a memory I have not thought of in years. Now I am going to get to Tell my great grandbabies all about the man in the moon

His vivid descriptions remind me of the way Earl Hamner Jr. wrote, bringing everyday moments in his life to a near tangible climax. No wonder you couldn't put his book down.🧡

I loved this chapter! It reminded me of the pranks Daddy and his cousins would laugh about that they had pulled on people when they were young. Back before TV & phones, they had to make their own entertainment, I guess😅

I really enjoy these Friday readings. You always pick such interesting stories. I believe you were talking about the church The Flowers Family attended. I've never heard that saying about the man in the moon. News travels fast reminded me of my childhood days. Our community was very close knit as my Grandmother used to say. Enjoy your weekend Tipper. Praying and Blessed! 🤗🙏💕🇺🇲

Mercy, that young man sure has some predicaments. You can just close your eyes and imagine the slimy stench covering him.😮. I remember as a young bride my husband’s grandmother teaching me how to can tomatoes. I ask her how you knew if a tomato was bad and she laughed and said I’d know. She was right, lol! TeresaSue

All I can think of is the generally accepted belief that children in the past were better behaved. That may be true in some instances , but certainly not all instances. I can’t imagine any children I know doing any of these things.

I am so enjoying The Thread That Runs so True that a week between chapters seems quite long! His words filled up my senses as I imagined a very handsome young man excited at the prospect of love so aware of all the beauty around him! I had NOT heard about the man in the moon and it delighted me to hear of another "old saying." I love your voice and I depend on your for so much entertainment and education, as well as that of your family... Thank you for being such a wonderful on line friend. SANDI
