Yup. That bit creeped the shit out of me as well. I mean, imagine the combination of entitlement and obsession in someone that literally utters the words "You should leave your wife, the person you loved enough to have a legal commitment to, and your son, and be with the actress that only plays your girlfriend in a fictional show.".
Felicity was adorable and had a voice of reason in seasons 1&2. Oliver was trained and smart but was still a bit reckless. She and Dig gave him some serious growth. Now she is always blinded by her emotions. It makes sense to happen at times but this was the case at all times for her. Its like their mentalities switched sides instead of having them both grow together.
No, Felicity--and Diggle, to an extent--was the main reason I stuck around; Stephen Amell is a terrible actor, and the writing does him no further favors; I like both characters, so they kept me invested, when "Oliver" clearly is unable to, being a whiny mopey bitch that does *not* reflect his comic book counterpart.
The problem started in season 2 when the writers stopped writing her as a character who happened to know Oliver and instead wrote her as the love interest. They sucked all personality out of her so that they could run through the usual CW romance BS drama with her. Season 1 hat potential, season 2 was a flashing warning sign. I got out the second they killed Sara. Never rued the decision.
So I'm not the only one that started hating Felicity after that "you can't trust me" nonsense. My wife actually didn't see how infuriating her behavior was until I started talking about it and went on a rant that was pretty much this entire video. Not to mention, Oliver STAYED WITH HER AFTER SHE WAS PARALYZED. Do you know how much commitment it takes to stay with a person and still want to marry them knowing they won't even be able to bath or take care of themselves? Even people that are happily married now could be broken by how heavy that burden can become and Oliver didn't even flinch. Then she gets her legs back and returns the ring because he didn't tell her everything about his son when she felt like it. It still makes me angry remembering how terrible her character became after 2 seasons of investment.
Spend a few sessions watching some divorce court hearings in your town and talk to a few of the older guys at your work. You just might learn a few things about human nature that'll surprise you.
Well a child is a serious thing, but other than that I agree that felicity who was amazing became trashy because when you make a side character who is the guy in the chair, turn into the main character then you are asking for trouble
The writing in this show became so unbearable. It's why I stopped watching after 3 (my bro told me 5 was good tho so I watched 4 on Netflix and hated every minute)
You nail the Felicity break up thing perfect. The single most irritating thing in the DC TV world is this. It's beyond selfish and stupid. It makes her easily hatable.
In one of the crossovers there's this great scene where Reverse Flash calls her out on thinking she's smarter than she actually is and that history was full of stories about Green Arrow, Flash and Black Canary but no one has ever heard of Felicity.
Stop being technical. You know he fucking means the people in charge. The people in CHARGE writes FELICITY, he's just mentioning the tangible aspect he can point to, in terms of specific on-screen evidence. Fuck, you nerds.
That bit of the arrow fandom saying all that creeper shit and photo shopping falicity's face overs sephans wifes face is the one of the more horrifying things Ive seen in a while
I read this on Reddit a while back, but it feels like a lot of the plot points of Season Four that didn’t work for Felicity were supposed to be for Laurel. Think about it... -Felicity is feeling the urge to get back into the game in the pilot? As she said, she had already been helping the team out from a distance because that’s what she already does. Laurel, on the other hand, makes sense to want to get back into crime fighting. Especially when you consider she’d only been doing it for a few months and to honor Sara. -Felicity questioning her place on the team? Again, her job primarily involves sitting down at a computer. Laurel, meanwhile, is out there in the field, and with the canary cry it would be a big loss if she was taken out of it. -Felicity getting angry about Oliver lying about William? I can understand it, but she knew he was a playboy long before she met him, and him having a kid in one of these affairs is likely. But you know who has a right to be angry? Laurel, since she was the one Oliver was cheating on when Samantha got pregnant. That’d be more than enough for anyone to at least put the engagement off, if not break up. It’s kinda depressing to think how people on the Internet with a keyboard and common sense can fix some of these issues in five minutes.
I would have preferred Oliver to fight Raas with a bow. It totally made sense that he got his arse kicked the first time with Raas. But the most important thing about Oliver's combat skills is his accuracy with a bow. That's the kind of thing that could believably level the playing field somewhat. Can you imagine something like: Raas: "You did not fare so well the last time we fought." Oliver: "I didn't have the bow." The idea that Oliver who's had only sparred with Slade and Malcolm when it comes to swords amounting to a few months of experience can win a 1v1 against someone who's used them constantly for hundreds of years is ridiculous.
ouldn't ra's also train with bows? the issue is Ra's is too strong to ever be a Arrow villain because by all logic, no matter what you do, you cant realistically stop him. unless you go full Iron Man and beat an archaic warrior with modern tech
The thing is, I could believe Oliver taking Ra's down with his bow and a good strategy. He's at his best with his preferred weapon, taking on Ra's with a sword is a death wish. I could believe that Oliver might not have all the skills Ra's has, but that his archery is better. Plus a bowman against a swordsman would be a cool fight to see, watching Oliver trying to keep his distance while avoiding Rai's swings.
I liked how he pointed out Green Arrow's declining fighting abilities. Because that really bothered me too. I mean, Damien Dark, (or however you spell it), is a bit understandable since he did train with Ra's Al Ghul. But the weird serial killer guy and some of the other examples he gave in the video had me slapping my forehead in frustration. I mean, seriously?! Those other guys should be chumps compared to Oliver!
I'm really enjoying these videos. You put into words two seasons worth of misery and pain (although season 4 puts season 3 into perspective; it's not the worst thing ever because S4 took its place).
Those people should not be saying that about Stephens wife. If he actually ever divorces his wife I will stop watching Arrow, I mean he has a DAUGHTER, these people are insane!
HollyBerry BlazeClan That's not the point. The point is that it's creepy and wrong for fans to harass actors and their families and try to get involved in their personal lives. I don’t care one bit if Stephen Amell divorces his wife or not - and it would have no effect on the show. But if he were to divorce his wife, it sure wouldn't be because some fans want him to - and if he remains married, it won't be because other fans would like that.
7:51 The city was renamed "in honor of" Ray Palmer because it was his idea. He proposed the renaming of the city to Star City when he had a meeting with the city after taking over Queen Consolidated.
who gives a shit. the show is dog crap. he lived due to league armor and the guy making this video showed diggle killing tens of them with the same amount of bullets oliver was shot with. the show is god awful and has awful fight scenes. oh and felicity saying she would kiss oliver but cant get the mask off but can fly the suit? yeah makes total sense. go ahead turn your brain off and watch the show. you couldnt get any dumber than being a fan of the show
Felicity is an issue where the writers wanted her to be a strong female character without understanding what makes a strong female character. Conviction, good judgement and strong moral character, the same thing that makes a strong male character makes a strong female character. Making them headstrong beyond reason, always “right” regardless of circumstance, and driven almost solely by strong emotion. All qualities that Felicity had IN SPADES.
Mattron that's not the explanation they used in season 5... Season 5 of Arrow Slade was like "hey, Oliver I've always been in full control of my actions, but I was a little pissed that you killed my girlfriend, but I'm over it because we need to kill Prometheus now"...
Felicity went from one of the best characters to one of the worst characters in the space of a season, screw felicity, I can't stand her in this series and want her to be killed off as she seems to be the most deserving (which is saying something considering what the other characters have done), also it would give the lance's a break, how many times do you have to bury your children. Damien dark could have been an interesting villain but like the flashbacks, I can't even remember why it was happening and what his goals or drive was. I could deal with them stealing from batman in season 3 (because it was just a story that works in this universe with the arrow) but season 4 was just batman with green arrow instead.
What really baffled me about Facility is after she took out that entire town, feeling very little guilt she morally shames the team, especially Oliver over and over again for excessive force in cases and how they elect to handle situations. She destroyed a whole town of innocent people! Even if it was the best case scenario, she has no right to crap all over the team when they maintain the same type of "needs of the many, outweigh the needs of a few" mentality.
I feel like Ras al Ghul telling Oliver to destroy Starling City would be a lot better if it was pushed by tradition or something. "I flooded the village I had come from. The Ras before me burnt his home. For millenia this has been the way, and it will continue to be the way forever."
I feel like Season 3 of Arrow could've been so much better if it had just been written more coherently. I thought the first half was great, but if we had just had Oliver thinking 'Woah, Ras killed Sara for leaving the league,' that would've been so much simpler and easier to follow than Malcolm's convoluted plot. Having Oliver mope around for awhile was ridiculously stupid, and having him actually join the League for more than THREE episodes would've fixed so much. I also absolutely hated that Oliver was never committed to the League, and it was just a trick, as it made so much of the story feel completely worthless. If we had Oliver join the League around episode thirteen (after Ras destroys his life in Starling, as that was great), we could've spent awhile with Oliver actually forming a bond with this Ras, instead of just being talked at a bunch. If Oliver viewed Ras as a Father figure, it could've lended so much to their relationship, which just falls flat in the version we got. The back half of Season 3 could've gone as follows: A. Oliver comes back to defend Starling against the League. B. Ras destroys his life in Starling and Roy Harper dies a result (not drives away in a car, actually dies). C. We see Oliver join the League of Assassins in an actual committed role, and develop a real connection with Ras al Ghul. D. Ras and Oliver willingly go out and do something that seems worthwhile, but it develops a moral conflict within Oliver, as Ras' methods and not as pure as he would like, but Oliver's willingness to kill without mercy in the past allows him to sidestep his moral compass. E. Oliver is pitted against his former teammates due to circumstances involving the League's morals, but with Oliver being numbed to their more extreme tendencies, he attempts to get his friends to look the other way. They refuse, and Oliver refuses to kill them at Ras' command. F. Ras is infuriated at Oliver's betrayal, and feeling as though he has lost a Son, he decides to destroy Starling City himself. Then, Oliver and Ras fight. Oliver wins, everyone is happy, victory for good. If a stupid kid sitting on his laptop can come up with this better version of the same story, why did the professional writers of this show gives us such a convoluted mess.
The only thing I like about season 4 is that Damien Darhk looks like Gunther from Friends. It never stopped being hilarious. The fact that he was supposed to be menacing just made it funnier.
Oof. You're bringing back so many bad memories. Arrow broke my heart, man. I went from absolutely loving season 1 and 2 to having that same sinking feeling you described in season 3 to finally just giving up in season 4. Such a bummer.
you forgot to mention that Felicity stands up and walks for the first time after being in a wheelchair specifically to walk out on Oliver in that moment lol.
I thought it was hilarious how the writers couldn’t figure out how save the hero’s so they brought in Barry to fix the problems but when they ask him to quickly stop ras al Gould which he could have done in a minute he makes an excuse that nah I got to stop zoom
Felicity losing her shit because Oliver respected the wishes of his childs mother then immediately proceeding to find a new boyfriend that's about as interesting as wet paper is where I started disliking the character and honestly it makes season 5 hard to watch for me.
Felicity and Iris are to Arrow and Flash what Lana was to Smallville. Hypocrites who lie and keep secrets from people while claiming they don't like being lied to and having secrets kept from them.
I'll say you give season 5 a shot, I really liked it. Felt like the show returned to its roots. Other than that season though, don't waste your time on rest of it!
Jeeeeeeez… When I heard that Benedict Cumberbatch fangirls were sending threatening messages to Cumberbatch’s girlfriend, I thought that was downright uncomfortable. But this… THIS is a whole different level of yikes. I honestly had to *shield my eyes* from those PhotoShopped images. “Disturbing” doesn’t even BEGIN to describe these extreme Olicity fans.
Omg thank you for this!! I thought I was the only one who thought this. The felicity storyline got on my nerves and I was appalled at how she was mad at Oliver over the William situation. I only kept watching because I had hope him and Laurel would get back together but NOPE they disappointed me
The Oliver Felicity thing would've been fine if it was season 1 or 2 Felicity, but her character changed so much and lost all of her quirkiness and rationality that was the foundation of her character. I get that people change in relationships, but she is mental. Reminds me of one of my exes, actually. Maybe that experience is what gave me the patience for it, lol
You're right! Damien Darhk had the cheapest way to film superpowers ever. At least in Legends of Tomorrow 2x16 it looks a lot better. The budget must have gotten increased a lot.
Yeah, her dumping him for having a son was bad, just terrible. "Donna Smoak is the worst." Not really. There are plenty of worse characters in the multi show series. Also the lack of Constantine mentioning saddens me.
7:42 They changed the name because Ray wanted Star city to be the name, to symbolize that Star city was a new city with a brighter future than Starling city.
Kinda think this is generous, Felicity already started being terrible in Season 2 when they bumped her up to the clear love interest instead of Laurel. Suddenly she's talking about Oliver's years of torture on an island as 'Fantasy Island' because she's jealous that he dated other girls?!?! WTF. If someone's wife said that to a survivor of torture... they would divorce immediately, it's emotional abuse. And that episode where she 'takes it upon herself' to take out the clock king because, once again, she's jealous of oliver's relationship with another woman - Sara. It's a miracle she didn't try to murder Laurel and Thea in their sleep so she'd be the only woman Oliver would ever focus on.
That Olicity fans thing reminds me of when I was in school watching Vampire Diaries and one of the male leads got married. It was nuts. I saw so many creepy messages about how the girl lead was the only one for him and that his wife clearly doesn't deserve him. It was pretty gross. As a past Supernatural fan I'm used to the writers taking writing advice from Tumblr tho. As bad as Olicity got I can assure you SPN has it worse.
Honestly you can’t have arrow without black canary and by black canary I mean Dinah - his pretty bird - who he always ends up marrying and loving in the comics. Though I haven’t watched this show in a while so I don’t know if with their Dinah if that would ever be possible.
you forgot how Season 3 turned Nanda Parbat into a holiday resort, were everyone knew where it is and can go there whenever they want, and that's were Oliver and Felicity first had candle lit sex in a luxurious suite.
Choreography aside, Darkh and a few others were supposed to be league level fighters BUT everything else you brought up I said during the season and I'm over 9000% in agreement with. They gave felicity's family and entire episode to deal with her parents getting back together and she was against it.
Corrections 0:31 - Malcolm knows more on the League than Oliver, that's Why He has to trust him 1:48 Laurel had received training from Nyssa AT THE TIME 3:21 Can Ra's Al Ghul Predict the Future? 4:00 They were Probably Faking it 4:11 Bruh Alot has happened since that 10:17 The City believes Roy is the Arrow and considering He Faked Die, Taking the Name Green Arrow is different 13:30 Green Arrow was Literately a RIPOFF of Batman when He was Introduced 14:08 If She was in a Situation where Millions could Die, then yeah, Maybe She would Acknowledge it but She doesn't have the time to grief
I recently read the first storyline of the Green Arrow Rebirth comics and there was this character Wendy who was Oliver’s secretary and who died in the first issue. I always considered Wendy the comic’s answer to how a Felicity would be like in the real GA-universe
I love these videos, they made me realize why I just started thinking all of a sudden that the show is not good and stopped watching it. I am now a sub
3:55 there’s also a scene in season 2 where Malcolm takes no wound or damage from Thea shooting him in the chest at point blank range, later to elucidate it was the doing of kevlar, attributed to the league’s armor. This is so ridiculous.
I think that setting up oliver joining the league at the end of the season was a good idea...as a set up for season four where they could actually show him being the new Ra’s Ahl Gul
Also, side point, but if you're going to set your climactic battle at night, with both combatants dressed in similar dark outfits, maybe figure out a way to light and shoot it so we can tell who is who. Just a thought.
Olicity was just the daftest thing ever. It was just so random. One episode, Oliver's not in love with her, and the very next - he was! No build-up, no foreshadowing, not even a hint that this is going to happen. Oliver went from considering her a friend and colleague to suddenly being in love with her. For no reason! And the CW didn't stop with Arrow when they did this. Anyone remember how Ray Palmer magically fell in love with Kendra? After someone suggested it, no less? The only good thing about the later seasons of the DC shows are the crossovers, which are my favourites to watch.
If I were Stephens wife I would be so pissed. I just went to a picture of him and his wife on Instagram, and the top comment was "Your wife @emilybett looks amazing." Pretty much all of the comments were about Emily Bett. There were even people speculating problems in his marriage based off of how he looked in the picture. It's disrespectful as hell.

@@KingRandor82 he could of gotten better if given character development
@@KingRandor82 Well that's the worst possible argument for why an actor is bad.
D-man Bradley This statement above ^👆 is 100%💯 true...
Felicity is a woman. I think that that aspect of her behaviour is to be expected, and it's entirely believable. I've heard worse real-life stories.
3:50 - 4:05 needed no words, and you not using any made it even better lol
Dude I was laughing till I nearly died lmao!!
Devils advocate: Oliver’s armour is better since he’s the chosen one lmao
You nail the Felicity break up thing perfect. The single most irritating thing in the DC TV world is this. It's beyond selfish and stupid. It makes her easily hatable.
Tiffany P they "kinda" fixed this in season 5
In one of the crossovers there's this great scene where Reverse Flash calls her out on thinking she's smarter than she actually is and that history was full of stories about Green Arrow, Flash and Black Canary but no one has ever heard of Felicity.
Felicity ruined the show
Nah, mate. The idiots in charge ruined the show.
TheCnorton19 agreed. She did ruin the show...
Stop being technical. You know he fucking means the people in charge. The people in CHARGE writes FELICITY, he's just mentioning the tangible aspect he can point to, in terms of specific on-screen evidence. Fuck, you nerds.
FrankGarrett316 you sir are VERY hostile, please calm ur tits
The writers ruined the show.
I hated Laurel fighting she went from Ameteur to a girl who could fuck up the league of assasins XD
at the time they try to attack nanda parbat she had been trained by nyssa.
For a few weeks, I'm glad they killed the bitch. She's worse than her own evil counterpart.
I would have preferred Oliver to fight Raas with a bow. It totally made sense that he got his arse kicked the first time with Raas. But the most important thing about Oliver's combat skills is his accuracy with a bow. That's the kind of thing that could believably level the playing field somewhat. Can you imagine something like:
Raas: "You did not fare so well the last time we fought."
Oliver: "I didn't have the bow."
The idea that Oliver who's had only sparred with Slade and Malcolm when it comes to swords amounting to a few months of experience can win a 1v1 against someone who's used them constantly for hundreds of years is ridiculous.
ouldn't ra's also train with bows? the issue is Ra's is too strong to ever be a Arrow villain because by all logic, no matter what you do, you cant realistically stop him. unless you go full Iron Man and beat an archaic warrior with modern tech
Even Richardo Diaz
Fr he’s beating people like Damien Dark and Ras Al Ghul and is losing to a gang boss
@@rasheedgraham3663 well ricardo in the comics, the dragon, was one of the best h2h combat fighters and beat oliver but i agree
I'm really enjoying these videos. You put into words two seasons worth of misery and pain (although season 4 puts season 3 into perspective; it's not the worst thing ever because S4 took its place).
DrJonesPHD62 s3 did have some good moments the flash the flash the flash the flash the flash the flash and the flash
if season 3 was as long as the rest of the seasons I'm sure it had the potential to be way worse
RandomGuy5937 it was as long...
Those people should not be saying that about Stephens wife. If he actually ever divorces his wife I will stop watching Arrow, I mean he has a DAUGHTER, these people are insane!
Clara Gilbertson I agree with you completely. These people are insane...
HollyBerry BlazeClan ikr
HollyBerry BlazeClan That's not the point. The point is that it's creepy and wrong for fans to harass actors and their families and try to get involved in their personal lives.
I don’t care one bit if Stephen Amell divorces his wife or not - and it would have no effect on the show. But if he were to divorce his wife, it sure wouldn't be because some fans want him to - and if he remains married, it won't be because other fans would like that.
FrakkinToaster Luvva The Supernatural fandom does this, but gayer.

7:51 The city was renamed "in honor of" Ray Palmer because it was his idea. He proposed the renaming of the city to Star City when he had a meeting with the city after taking over Queen Consolidated.
who gives a shit. the show is dog crap. he lived due to league armor and the guy making this video showed diggle killing tens of them with the same amount of bullets oliver was shot with. the show is god awful and has awful fight scenes. oh and felicity saying she would kiss oliver but cant get the mask off but can fly the suit? yeah makes total sense. go ahead turn your brain off and watch the show. you couldnt get any dumber than being a fan of the show
@@BaronVonBielski he was just explaining why the city was renamed in ray's honor. No need to get angry and throw a fit like a child.
All qualities that Felicity had IN SPADES.
god season 4 was just so bad
Liam Bieber season 4 was cancer
Season 4 turned me off the whole series
Is was sooooo freakin boring.
I really wished that HIVE was how it was in Teen Titans.
I wish Slade/Deathstroke was how he was in Teen Titans. Instead he's some mopey australian who cries all the time about his dead girlfriend.
Aerry Suri what? He dated shado? Pretty sure he just wanted her, also mirikuru is what made it that way, fucked his mind up
Mattron that's not the explanation they used in season 5... Season 5 of Arrow Slade was like "hey, Oliver I've always been in full control of my actions, but I was a little pissed that you killed my girlfriend, but I'm over it because we need to kill Prometheus now"...
no actually in season 5 he said how the "mirikuru wore out a long time ago"
That was my number 1 problem with season 4: They made Oliver basically a newbie when it came to fighting.
Felicity Smoak’s rise to main character is the equivalent of making C3P0 the main focus of the Star Wars saga
Pretty sure HIVE is a teen titans villain not a batman thing.
You have failed this omelet
16:21 "PLEASE die in a fire!!!"
"oh, oh, oh thank you! I, I appreciate that"
LMAO
What really baffled me about Facility is after she took out that entire town, feeling very little guilt she morally shames the team, especially Oliver over and over again for excessive force in cases and how they elect to handle situations. She destroyed a whole town of innocent people! Even if it was the best case scenario, she has no right to crap all over the team when they maintain the same type of "needs of the many, outweigh the needs of a few" mentality.
it’s funny when u think about it. felicity basically has a higher kill count than oliver
god i hate felicity!!!!!!!!!
a girl named brett Finally! Someone who has a brain!

Lord Phill, to me, you’ve been waiting for centuries.
Felicity- I can hack a nuke with an iPad......
Felicity should have died and Oliver should have ended up with Laurel
Or Sarah, or Huntress, or Cupid... or best of all Barry lol
Stephen King FACTS
Honestly I agree with that. But the mother was so annoying during season 4 I wanted both her and Felicity to die in a fire in that season
Thank you! I always wondered why that scene in season one was basically just forgotten about.
They kinda ruined laurel though I prefer black siren she was much less needy
I feel like Ras al Ghul telling Oliver to destroy Starling City would be a lot better if it was pushed by tradition or something.
"I flooded the village I had come from. The Ras before me burnt his home. For millenia this has been the way, and it will continue to be the way forever."
I actually like that.
Isn't that what the video made that situation out to be?
The back half of Season 3 could've gone as follows:
If a stupid kid sitting on his laptop can come up with this better version of the same story, why did the professional writers of this show gives us such a convoluted mess.
you sir are a genius...
But I like roy that part stays.
Because the stupid kid sitting on the laptop actually cares more about the show than the writers
Superhero shows in a nutshell:
Protagonist: I can’t do it
Side character: Yes you can
Protagonist: I did it
Side character: Yay
The silent cuts are just so hilarious and well put, I manage to cry every time. Encore.
God these videos are like therapy for putting myself through seasons 3 and 4. Forgot how much a cancer felicity was

I come back to these videos religiously at this point
Jeeeeeeez… When I heard that Benedict Cumberbatch fangirls were sending threatening messages to Cumberbatch’s girlfriend, I thought that was downright uncomfortable. But this… THIS is a whole different level of yikes. I honestly had to *shield my eyes* from those PhotoShopped images. “Disturbing” doesn’t even BEGIN to describe these extreme Olicity fans.
It s like a Nightmare
"Donna Smoak is the worst."
Not really. There are plenty of worse characters in the multi show series.
Also the lack of Constantine mentioning saddens me.

Paladin Cape agree
This 3-part video series is awesome! Good work.
Shippers don't get that just because characters are a couple in a show that doesn't mean their actors have to be one in real life.
The hacking in arrow makes the movie Hackers look like a documentary.

I recently read the first storyline of the Green Arrow Rebirth comics and there was this character Wendy who was Oliver’s secretary and who died in the first issue. I always considered Wendy the comic’s answer to how a Felicity would be like in the real GA-universe
a few things i can say is season 5 was almost flawless, best villain and best peaks from oliver
I love these videos, they made me realize why I just started thinking all of a sudden that the show is not good and stopped watching it. I am now a sub
I hated how easily they could fight the league.
Anyone else really appreciate Felicity falling down a fight of stairs in legends season 2?
