    It's not just the fact that she's playing this at age 10. It's the fact that she has such a mature sound for her age. She definitely has a big-time career ahead of her.

    The synergy with the orchestra is unbelievable. I think this little girl is not (only) a "10hoursaday-pianist" or a "pure talent". I think she has a great maturity to have a balanced life and keep her practice on a very high level. I heard she also has hobbies like reading and dancing, so she also manages to have fun. It's obvious that without studying your talent does not make you have this skill, but also it's not an enormous time of strict studying hours that makes you a pianist like that. I wish Alexandra all the best in her whole life, not just as a pianist! ❤️

    as a piano teacher, let me tell you, most of my 10 year old students can't play an octave, just one, their hands just aren't big enough. they'd go straight to the hospital with flaming tendons if they tried what she does at 2:44. She has perfect genes for this, there's very few pieces that's outside her reach, maybe some prokofiev/rachmaninoff, but at 13/14 she will nail absolutely anything, Gaspard, Islamei, you name it

    • @theUroshman
      @theUroshman 6 лет назад +52

      Well, the size of your hands isn't crucial when piano playing is concerned, but for some pieces, it can certainly help to have larger hands. Still, let's just mention those who had small hands and become wonderful pianists: Josef Hoffman, Emil Gilels, Vladimir Ashkenazy, Alicia de Larrocha to name a few.

      tschaikowski Octave isn't a question of age.She is tall for her age.

    • @hessu3
      @hessu3 6 лет назад +38

      The size of hands is in fact important. Some great pianists had and may have small hands, but I am a pianoteacher and have to deal with very small hands. I cannot play most of the romantic repertoire as it is written. I can play it with some tricks and if I leave some notes away. But a bit more range in my hands would make my situation much easier. And, it is a question not only about the size, but also of flexibility. Some people can strech their hands to the limit, some people have very stiff bones, even if they train it every day.
      I really wich, there would be two sizes of pianos available for everyone, one with normal keys and one with slimmer keys.

    Every time I return to this video 1) to enjoy watching an eleven year old child play as if God himself put the music in her heart, 2) people
    speak so much of prodigies, like this boy or that girl. I have watched many of those videos, but THIS, this is the benchmark against which I'd like to measure performance by children. Alexandra plays with uncommon virtuosity for someone so young, and with obvious enjoyment, her heart and soul in her work. Congratulations on winning this prestigious competition.

    This is the most perfect performance of this horrendously difficult work by Felix I have ever seen either live or on video/film. This so serious little girl is a sensational pianist, certainly she even at 10 years old is one of the great virtuosos of modern times. My only two wishes are one that she doesn't let her clear adoration of music rob her of her childhood, there has to be time to play and be a child. And secondly that I wish they had not cut the video at the end because in other video's of her she shows a beautiful and delightful smile, but understandably saves it for the end.

    People commenting about having no childhood... childhood is over romanticised. Most of us don’t keep in touch with childhood friends and would not give up what we’ve achieved so far for extra afternoons at the park or playing video games. How awesome that she has found her passion at such an early age and be blessed with a gift and learned about honing her craft when it matters the most, leading her on a clear path that she can change in the future if she so wants when most people even after getting their degrees are still not sure what to do with their lifes. And how about all those of us who have been touched and those who will be inspired by her on this journey?

      Furthermore, it’s incredibly ignorant that the automatic assumption is “she has no childhood.” She loves what she’s doing, and it’s a given that in cultivating something like music to a very high degree, there’s not going to be bundles and bundles of time for other things. And also, why doesn’t this qualify as a “childhood”? Isn’t being passionate about something and having excellent support for it good enough? Why do children have to spend their days playing and relaxing for it to count as a “childhood”?

    Really impressive for her age. Her technical abilities will not advance a great deal further. How could they? Where she could....and will grow from here is in her artistry and artistic interpretive ability. She will certainly be fun to watch grow throughout the years.

    This is genuinely excuisite piano playing. Honestly, as a competent piano player myself I am really quite shocked at the maturity of her playing considering the fact that she is 10 years of age. The control, the dynamics, the articulation, interpretation, its all magnificently executed. Like some other people have quoted in the comment section, its like she was a pianist in her past life and is only just taking care of unfinished business here. Truly incredible. 👌🏼👍🏼🎹🥇🎶

      That's the problem. Not understanding that your circumstances were probably different that hers. I wish I had started playing the piano earlier, but my parents couldn't afford it. I don't feel bad at all watching prodigies. I feel happy for them and just wish I can play well someday. No need to compare yourself to anyone. Galatians 6:4,5 "But let each one examine his own actions, and then he will have cause for rejoicing in regard to himself alone, and not in comparison with the other person. For each one will carry his own load."
