Can't agree with you more. I have been playing guitar for 30 years and I didn't find much musicians like Gilad, whom I discovered recently while looking for ogur sazi on YT. Trully one of a kind. Just keep on Gilad. Would love to bring you to play in Belgrade. Cheers!
I have a bias about foreign musicians whose playing Turkish folk music like Türkü or deyis that no matter how good are they on playing or feeling those songs or melodies. This was a dumb feeling but until this day I was not accepting a foreigner who could be a pioneer in our traditional music. Now I realize that Gilad is more Turkish than me, more traditional than me and more local than me. I’ve always support his works on every platform but today I believe, we must support Gilad’s works also for our and world’s music culture. If Erkan Oğur is the first person who represents our music and culture, surely Gilad is after from him. Peace
wow! I just saw this comment now (its hard to catch all comments because youtube isnt really good at arranging them)... I am very happy to read this, it is actually very meaningful for me. I will be honest- I am not trying to sound or not sound as Turkish or not... I am trying to find myself by respecting the origins of the music, be it a person (like Erkan) and\or place (like Turkey) as well as the frequencies that the instruments create.. and then I just try to expand on it..I try to be one with the instrument. I'm glad to hear it is coming across. thank you very much for this and all of your other comments 🙏🏼❤️
Very beautiful, inspiring! ✨ How would you Tune a Guitar like an Oğur saz ? Im guessing its a bit higher , so what pitches would work for a Guitar ? Also Who built this Instrument ? It sounds really nice and you play it elegantly! 💫
Thanks Oscar! And Ömer! 🙏🏼❤️ indeed it was built by my friend Engin Topuzkanamış from Izmir, u can look him up on face/insta/youtube. You can make a Oğur guitar, actually Erkan Oğur is using one for many years... its a regular acoustic guitar (can be electric or nylon string if u want, might be cool to try)... but u do need to use different set of strings... maybe in the future i will do a video showing how to do it with some playing examples... i just need to up my video making skills a bit
Gilad Weiss Thank you! I actually suspected that Engin was the builder, great job ! That would be very cool , i wouldnt doubt your video skills, your videos are very well Done brother 👌 a video like that plus some cool tutorial video on your plucking patterns is on my wish list ❤️😉Best !
ömer kahyaoğlu Thank you Ömer ! He is a great Luthier 👌 I dont think it is Lute tuning that is all Fourths This is sounding like something else ! Have a great day 🌞
I hope I could get to doing that.😊 placing a camera and recording is easy... but for a tutorial i need some planning and editing... that's what I meant about the "video skills"... it's a good catalyst for starting out 😊

Hello, you are playing guitar and baglama. We have these two instruments combined, called "Çağlama"
