I am already fully aware of the benefits of raw feeding, as I have been feeding raw for 17 yrs. But I just want to say, I really appreciate that you said if someone can just do a portion of raw or fresh food, props to them! That is so nice to hear on a video, because it is so true! I work with dogs professionally for a living and I have seen a difference in client's pets that have just gotten a little raw added in!
I’m so confused about all these different dry foods and which ones are good which ones are bad.. it just seems like a bunch of nonsense. So I started making homemade food from scratch in my pressure cooker. The one thing I am hoping you can give me advice on is what is the best vitamins to put in their homemade food so they get all the things that they need.
@@brenblech4739 vitamin e, iodine, manganese, and depending on what you feed, vitamin d can often be deficient in a typical homemade diet. I would download a meal formulator or purchase one from many pet nutritionists. This content creator may have one. BK Pets has a RUclips channel, and a new online item for purchase that helps you get ready for home made feeding, with recipes and amounts for every type of meat and size of dog. I bought it because it’s inexpensive, but have yet to make the recipes because I feed Dr. Harvey’s base mixes and have plenty on-hand. I feed both PMR and BARF meals, so I feel both methods are great so long as you are using formulators or recipes that balance the meals. I have been on a raw feeding journey since March. I began by feeding primal raw instinct frozen meals. I followed that up by trying all of the Dr. Harvey’s complete and base mix options, settling on the base mixes. I decided I wanted to start making my own meals, and began studying PMR feeding because I felt the recipes would be easier for me to build. I stumbled upon the Paws of Prey cheat sheets, formulator, and starter kit. Today, I feed a hybrid diet. One meal each day is a PMR meal I formulated using the Paws of Prey formulator and starter kit. The other meal is a Dr. Harvey’s Raw Vibrance or Veg-to-Bowl meal in accordance to the directions. I will ultimately go with a complete PMR meal, with a small portion of Dr. Harvey’s added in only for a fiber source. That way, if I run out of something needed for a complete PMR meal, I have what I need to balance a meal for my dogs in a pinch. I’m also going to make batches of Dr. Judy Morgan’s Pup Loaf recipe, and serve 1 cooked meal per week, as I learned from another nutritionist that doing so can unlock certain nutrients. I added Gussys Gut, but it’s quite expensive, and I haven’t noticed any improvement after adding it. I may dip my toe in the DIY fermented vegetable making, but I haven’t decided.
First of all, I’d like to say THANK YOU for helping pet owners around the world by making these videos. You’re amazing. I would love if you made content in the future a) reviewing common raw food brands and b)going over raw food watch outs/pitfalls to watch out for when choosing a food. As you’ve said “raw dog food” has now become a buzz word, which I’m sure means both good and bad-intentioned brands are all trying to buy in
I feed my two dogs raw food since they are only 3 months. I bought the premade raw food from commercial raw food company which combines muscle meats, organs, crushed bones, tripe, salmon and crushed salmon bone. They have variety of meat to choose, such as chicken, turkey, lamb, veal, possum, rabbit, duck, goat, wallaby, venison. I also add some puree vege , blueberries and raw organic eggs to their raw, I add some supplements to their raw, such as salmon oil, flaxseed oil, coconut oil, kelp, green lipped mussel power, bone broth, raw goat milk and goat milk kefir to keep balanced. They are super super healthy!
Hi, you are helping me research what to feed and how. I was so BLESSED to have had a pet meat processing plant near me in Florida that mixed raw beef/chicken, with vitamins, some veggies, etc. They would then freeze in tubes of 2 pounds each. And provide it in stores for purchase, in a freezer. NOTE: the plant had been a human grade processing plant and that was a bonus. My Pet Store owner REALLY involved himself in nutrition and animal care. He advocated and sold goat milk for years, so I trusted the products. NOW I live elsewhere and have not found similar products or companies. SO, you're help is essential and I will look at your raw diet info. AND def get goat milk. You are so good for pets, you make a difference.
I cook my dog a meaty mix with carrots, pumpkin, broccoli, fish, oats, chicken, beef liver, beef, pork, chicken heart etc. blend them together then add in a little peanut butter as well as some egg. When feeding, add in a bit of dog food for her to chew on. My dog loves it.
I would love an elaboration on the "how do I feed my pet raw" segment, if you do make a part 2! :) For example, what brands do you suggest? Are there other raw toppers you recommend? My silky terrier currently eats kibble that I top with dehydrated raw nuggets (that I rehydrate with bone broth) and goat milk, but I'm definitely interested in switching the kibble out for a raw option, like the Primal sccop & serve formulas.
places like Ollie, Nom Nom, and The Farmer's Dog are actually fully cooked food! There are lots of raw food companies too, but I think the most popular ones are usually cooked :)
My cat is on Viva Raw and has been since he was 7 mos. old. He is now 14 mos. old. His teeth are bright, clean, and beautiful. His coat is shinier than most cats I see in my neighborhood.
This was a good video! I stumbeled upon your channel randomly, i'll make sure to check more of your videos in the futur! For what is worth, i had problems with my siamese cat on comercial food. He would have diarrhea almost every day. We went to the vet and he found nothing wrong with him. I tried raw. Diarrhea went away in 1 week. It has been 1 year now since his last diarrhea and i could not be happier!
The most affordable raw chicken I've found is the 10 lb bags of chicken leg quarters from Walmart. The price per pound runs between $.59 and $.67. I take most of the skin off and use the rest.
I am 20yrs old and am a first time dog mom. My 2 pups are 10 week old litter mates and they are pit bull mixes. I know absolutely nothing and am doing my best to learn as quickly as possible. I want them to eat raw as much as possible with no crappy or filler ingredients. I would love to make their food instead of buying pre packaged but don’t want to mess up!
heya, I just found ur channel and ur amazing. I work at a pet store and all the info u have given is amazing. I was wondering if u could do more videos abt raw diets and different things u could add to their food so they get more variety.
Do you have a video on why you don't like vet foods? I would love to see an in depth comparison, pros and cons, opinion, etc. I currently work in the vet field and am feeling a bit hesitant with the recommendations I've been getting 😖
Can you do a demonstration of the raw food you are talking about and where to buy it ? How much to feed a boxer 50+ lbs. do I feed him twice or once a day? Do we change the meal every other day?
Smaller local pet stores usually carry a bunch of raw food. Although if you have a Pet Supplies Plus near you they have some commercial (pre made) raw as well. My dog is about 55 lbs and he gets fed between 1-1.5lbs of his pre made raw depending on how active he is that day. If you don’t have any pet stores near you that carry raw food there are some great companies that you can get it shipped to you monthly. If you want to do a DIY raw where you buy all the ingredients and put it all together I’d definitely get in contact with a canine nutritionist.

can you do a video comparing the commercial raw brands for cats? namely naturawls, big country raw, etc as these are some of the ones available in Canada
I've been feeling my 2 year old male Lab the following I cup kibble Cut up and slightly boiled beef Diced carrots Diced sweet potato And a few blueberries. Then I mix it all together with the water from the boiled meat. Does that sound OK or nah? The kibble is blue buffalo
Thanks for the video. In light of the research linking processed foods to health problems, including Alzheimer's in humans, should kibble be avoided? I've been using Open Farm, but am now wondering if there's such a thing as healthy kibble.
I really want to start feeding raw or at least partially feeding raw but want to do it right and not break the bank. Can you do a video on things that can be added to their kibble? And would it be better to feed wet food and add a few raw things to that? And what raw companies do you suggest? I love my dog and just want him to be the happiest and healthiest possible!
I highly recommend looking into “The Primal Pack” ! She breaks down what meals should consist of, what to buy, where to buy them and how much you will be expected to spend.
The concern I have with raw feeding...while no different than bringing raw food into my house from the grocery store, I also normally don't proceed to eat my chicken raw and then slobber on the floor, couch, kids, etc. If you don't have kids it seems it would be easier logistics by a long shot!
My parents have two dogs, one of which is a golden retriever who will lick your hands, feet, face, and clothes any chance he gets and they’ve been feeding exclusively raw for seven years now. My dad has gotten food poisoning from oysters several times but never from the dogs’ food! I adopted my first dog 8 months ago and started feeding her raw 6 months ago. No illness over here either, even though she loves to lick my face and has managed a few sneak attacks after a recent meal 🤪
My 1 year old German Shepherd has EPI. I started feeding raw. He is looking and feeling so much better. Of course he always has to have Pancreas enzymes added to every meal
Hi, do you think that a dog can be super healthy, even if it doesn't eat any fruits or veggies? Let's say, it eats only whole grains and a variety of meats (70% muscles, 10% organs, 10% bones)
Hope you're still active with this channel. I've seen people adding vegetables to their pet's raw food. Is that necessary, seeing as how you stated, in their natural state they would just be eating the meat of a prey.
I feed both my dogs primal pronto. My 1 year old had parvo when we got him. So he spent 6 days hospitalized. He suffered from leaky gut after. I use a holistic vet and we used supplements to fix it. He still has a delicate stomach. If someone tries to sneak him a milk bone I find out in about 15 min because he throws up. I have incorporated answers fermented fish stock in their diet as well. It is expensive but I’d rather pay for good nutrient food then vet bills later because they are sick.
What raw dog food would you recommend? I’m currently using Viva Raw pure mixed with Carna 4 nugget… I’m hoping to transition to a complete raw delivery service.. I’m interested to see your reviews on those services
Ever since my cat was 3 month old we noticed how excited she would get when my mom would take out the raw meat from the grocery bags or even the freezer. One time i even caught her ripping it open to get the meat. Ever since I noticed she was interested in raw food, I’ve been doing research but I still haven’t fully committed yet as I’m still educating myself but I hope to commit soon.
There is no such thing as "all raw or no raw". You can always start with a little bit of a commercial raw food like Primal in addition to what you are already feeding!
How much muscle meat and organ meat should you be adding if it's just a topper and not the whole meal? Is 2oz of chicken breast or 1 oz of beef liver for a 40ish lb Aussie appropriate?
2:57 pet specific raw meat, is also 5 times the price, as human raw meat. I am looking for the answer, FOR ALL BUDGETS! I have found, cooking for your pets, can actually be CHEAPER, then some top notch brands. Just need some insight, on nutrition for cooked fresh meats.
I have a doodle and he is quite large so buying premade raw food can get to be expensive. I was wondering if you have any recipes/DIY raw food? Thanks for your videos! 🤍
I’m 17 and living pretty much on my own with my 5 pound yorkie and I’m tired of seeing him eat kibble. I know it’s bad for him so I’m doing research to feed him a more healthy balanced diet..
Hello. Thank you for your videos. I fell into this rabbit hole of different foods to feed your dogs and my grandmother was saying Dr.Martys dog food is wonderful. I mean, I hear super good things, but it is so expensive!! I'm curious to hear your professional opinion. Is it worth the money? Is it truly as good as they say? Thank you for your time
Hi there skylar! My 11 month old mini golden doodle is a picky eater! I’ve been adding raw nuggets to his meals for quite some time to get him to eat his food! I’m happy to hear about goats milk! And the best foods! I also buy fresh food from the refrigerator section bc he seems to like it better than kibble too. It does get kind of pricey.., so I’m glad I’ve found your channel!
Thank you so much! I hated the groups that are so uppity and refuse to help and just say "Go on wet/raw. Kibble very bad. No toppers will help kibble food." What type of topper can we add cat food and to dog food? We have 1 6m puppy and cats between 11 months - 1y7m
My 10 years old toy poodle has been on kibbles she on stella and chewy chicken she starting to be even more picky. I’m thinking I’d going prepackaged bet raw. Would this bother her tummy? How do I start?
Are there some companies producing kibble who add omega 3s, pro biotics and enzymes after the cooking process? If a raw diet is out of reach financially would these foods be a good option?
What are the best proteins to help a dog loose weight. My girl gained some weight over a past couple Months and Id like to get her back to a healthy weight for her breed
have you done a review of farmer’s dog? i would really like to hear one if possible. we feed my dog it (because she’s super picky and won’t eat kibble) and so far she’s been good, but i was wondering about your take on it.
Also I was always under the impression that you shouldn't feed kibble in the same feeding as raw food. So when we first started our puppy on raw food he had kibble for breakfast and raw food for dinner although we do occasionally add an egg Raw two kibble. Are you of the same opinion that raw should be said in a different setting or at a different Meal Time if you're feeding kibble. I was always told the dogs do not process kibble the same as they process raw food and so it was harder for them to digest the both of them at the same time. I also noticed a dramatic difference in the amount of water that are dog needed to drink when we were feeding Raw versus when we are feeding kibble. It really is a huge difference you're talking one bowl or less of water a day versus three bowls of water a day
I would love to give my dog a better diet. The problem is my dog is a family dog and I’m the only one who seems to be passionate about this. I don’t have the finances to give him the full raw diet but can you do a video on how to safety add better ingredients in my dogs food?
Hello! I'm planning on integrating raw food to my cat's diet with the intention of transitioning fully to a raw-based diet, but coming across a couple stumbling blocks. For one, one of my cats has sensitivities to poultry, and a lot of raw-based diets seem to integrate chicken in some way or another - such as giving them chicken feet to crunch on, adding eggs to their meals, and that sort of thing, in order to make it a complete diet. Also, one of my cats was malnourished as a kitten (he's a rescue!) and because of that he doesn't have a lot of teeth so his food has to be pretty soft. Do you have any advice, or would you at some point make a video touching on raw-food diets for cats (or dogs!) that have special dietary concerns? I know it's a lot to go over, like animals with diabetes, weight loss diets, kidney or urinary health, etc., so completely understandable if you don't want to make a video, lol.
Bone is dangerous when it is dry and brittle. Raw bones are much safer because the high moisture content helps to prevent splintering. In raw diets though, the bone is more often than not ground into a powder or a small, easy to process portion
my puppy is extremely, and i mean extremelyyyy picky concerning food and we are really struggling with making sure he gets all the nutrients he needs. If anything, he somewhat enjoys cooked meat, but my family don't know enough about dog nutrition to feel comfortable feeding him completely with self made food. I know there's BARF calculators, but my dog doesn't eat half of the stuff mentioned there and i coudln't find any information if it's doable to do a BARF inspired diet so to speak with more cooked food. I'd love a video talking about tips on how to deal with picky dogs or maybe you could give some tips or even just recommend osme sources(i dont mind researching myself, just cant find good information). I just found your channel and greatly enjoy the content you post!
Help :( my husky hates kibble. I began giving my dogs toppers - store bought. Then I realized getting my own chicken organs & meats were cheaper. So I began cooking 50% of my dog meals & 50% “top quality” kibble. All my dogs are fine. Except the husky. She will literally fish out the fresh meat and leave the kibble on her plate. Everyday. Vet says she’s being picky because I am babying her with the food. But he also told me to feed her Royal Canin. 😬 Thoughts? Do I stop with the homemade foods or do try my best to go completely homemade?
In my experience, huskies tend to be picky. They can sometimes be like that pretty much regardless of what you feed. I would stick with what you are doing and try soaking the kibble in water, goat milk, or bone broth and see if that helps.
Do cats need water at all if you feed them the proper amount of wet food or raw? Also is 125g a day of 90% Hormone Free Chicken mince (with 10% bone content) and 10% human grade Beef offal which includes Liver, Kidneys and Lamb Heart a good thing to feed them? Will they need other things as well as that?
Cats should always have access to fresh water, regardless of their diet. It sounds like you have a good start to a homemade diet, but may still be missing some essential vitamins and minerals
@@TheTattooedDogTrainer It's actually from a company and they said that it should be the only thing she needs to eat. They seemed to think it contained all a cat needs. What do you think it's missing so I can check with them?
I don't know if you have already seen this but she has a more recent video talking about raw goat milk. She says if someone asks about vitamins she suggests goats milk. It was a pretty good video, got me looking at adding goats milk. Hope that helps.
Love your content!! I did have a question about where you got your nutrition certificate from, Im currently taking a course but I want to take more if I can, Im really into pet nutrition and just want to expand my knowledge ... Thank you!
I became a "trained nutritionist" working alongside a mentor for 2 years, and then went through a course designed by Dr. Maragret Smart and Dana Scott through Dog's Naturally.
@@TheTattooedDogTrainer That's awesome thanks for the info, I find shadowing and training alongside others is the best way to learn and being exposed to all kinds of scenarios for sure.
You’re paying for the extra step of removing the moisture and the convenience of having shelf stable food, so freeze dried is actually more expensive than frozen raw.
I read a couple articles about not feeding your dog both kibble and raw because it will confuse their stomachs...can you elaborate on that? Also, would i be able to do a couple of days out of the week raw and the rest kibble? Thank you for the informative videos ❤️
I asked Roxanne Stone (founder of Answers Raw Pet Food) this and she says that this is outdated information and feeding raw and kibble together makes it easier to digest the kibble. For consistency sake I would recommend sprinkling raw into all your meals throughout the week as opposed to "raw days" and "kibble days".
I am already fully aware of the benefits of raw feeding, as I have been feeding raw for 17 yrs. But I just want to say, I really appreciate that you said if someone can just do a portion of raw or fresh food, props to them! That is so nice to hear on a video, because it is so true!

I'm for sure going to be doing a Raw Feeding 101 soon!
I highly recommend looking into “The Primal Pack” ! She breaks down what meals should consist of, what to buy, where to buy them and how much you will be expected to spend.
@@nicood5691 The Primal Pack this is a channel correct?
Do you have any studies that demonstrate the benefits of raw food that you list here?
Any recommendations on raw food products and where to buy them online ? Thanks
Where and what is the best place to get raw food for my dog. And what is the best way to start.
I might have missed it but can I give raw chicken to a dog? Also Is high fat bad like pork shoulder.
Any good recommendations on kibble close to raw that's affordable?
I feed both my dogs primal pronto. My 1 year old had parvo when we got him. So he spent 6 days hospitalized. He suffered from leaky gut after. I use a holistic vet and we used supplements to fix it. He still has a delicate stomach. If someone tries to sneak him a milk bone I find out in about 15 min because he throws up. I have incorporated answers fermented fish stock in their diet as well. It is expensive but I’d rather pay for good nutrient food then vet bills later because they are sick.
I was told diabetic dogs should not eat raw diets. What are your thoughts on that?
Do recommend Pure balance?
What raw dog food would you recommend? I’m currently using Viva Raw pure mixed with Carna 4 nugget… I’m hoping to transition to a complete raw delivery service.. I’m interested to see your reviews on those services
Does goats milk do good for cats and dogs? And can I just use leftover meat that nobody is eating?

I’m 17 and living pretty much on my own with my 5 pound yorkie and I’m tired of seeing him eat kibble. I know it’s bad for him so I’m doing research to feed him a more healthy balanced diet..
Do you have a video looking at the best brands of cold pressed dry food... ?
Sounds like you have one lucky pup!
Thank you so much! I hated the groups that are so uppity and refuse to help and just say "Go on wet/raw. Kibble very bad. No toppers will help kibble food."
What type of topper can we add cat food and to dog food? We have 1 6m puppy and cats between 11 months - 1y7m
Hi love all the information. I was wondering, what are good raw food to buy in my local store? Thanks for all the information.
Really great videos!
Glad I've found your channel!
Do you have a video comparing canned dog foods? I've heard you say that canned is better than kibble. Thank you!
Not yet! It is on my list to do though!
Love raw feeding! My senior rescue Lhaaa Apso has been raw fees for years!
I have my cat on Viva Raw meat, organ and bone. If you use Viva Raw, you MUST add Alnutrin for meat and bone, or it won't be balanced.
Can you talk about Fromm?
My 10 years old toy poodle has been on kibbles she on stella and chewy chicken she starting to be even more picky. I’m thinking I’d going prepackaged bet raw. Would this bother her tummy? How do I start?
Are there some companies producing kibble who add omega 3s, pro biotics and enzymes after the cooking process? If a raw diet is out of reach financially would these foods be a good option?
Can you do a video on dogs on a vegan diet?
It really is a huge difference you're talking one bowl or less of water a day versus three bowls of water a day
How much goat milk would I add to my dogs food if he weighs 9 lb and is 1 ur old?
Is kefir good for my dog
Any plans to do a video on freeze dried foods?
I would love to give my dog a better diet. The problem is my dog is a family dog and I’m the only one who seems to be passionate about this. I don’t have the finances to give him the full raw diet but can you do a video on how to safety add better ingredients in my dogs food?
I just posted a video all about toppers!
Yay so glad you made this! Should people be concerned about bone shards in the food hurting the inside of the dogs body?
Bone is dangerous when it is dry and brittle. Raw bones are much safer because the high moisture content helps to prevent splintering. In raw diets though, the bone is more often than not ground into a powder or a small, easy to process portion
Does feeding a small dog, like a pug, a full raw diet cause pancreatitis?
my puppy is extremely, and i mean extremelyyyy picky concerning food and we are really struggling with making sure he gets all the nutrients he needs.
Is a raw diet realistic for a dog who grazes? Will the food go bad if they don’t eat it right away?
could you do a review on freshpet dog food?
is primal raw frozen a good food ?
Can you do a review on fetching foods they make dog/cat raw food?
Help :( my husky hates kibble.
I began giving my dogs toppers - store bought. Then I realized getting my own chicken organs & meats were cheaper. So I began cooking 50% of my dog meals & 50% “top quality” kibble. All my dogs are fine. Except the husky. She will literally fish out the fresh meat and leave the kibble on her plate. Everyday. Vet says she’s being picky because I am babying her with the food. But he also told me to feed her Royal Canin. 😬
Thoughts? Do I stop with the homemade foods or do try my best to go completely homemade?
In my experience, huskies tend to be picky. They can sometimes be like that pretty much regardless of what you feed. I would stick with what you are doing and try soaking the kibble in water, goat milk, or bone broth and see if that helps.
Is raw kibble better than kibble
What do you think about Darwins raw food? I have a cat with kidney disease and wanted to try their kidney diet but I'm hesitant.
What are top raw food brand for dogs
My cat ( Tibby) is not yet accustomed in eating raw food… having said this, is it logical to (at least) steam it before feeding it to her?
What vitamins do you recommend for a Labrador
Is goat milk in powder form a good choice , if you can’t get frozen or fresh.
Absolutely!
Would spot and tango unkibble be a good choice to start raw food? It’s freeze-dried raw food.
Freeze-dried is a great way to ease into the idea of raw!
@@TheTattooedDogTrainer thank you so much!!🤗
