Apparently there wasnt a restriction to who could own a sword. It was most likely a merge between a sword and knife making guild
Historically, the only real difference between a sword and a knife is the inclusion of a pommel. If it had a pommel, it's a sword. Blade 30 inches long? Does it have a pommel, no? That's a knife my friend!
@@christopherjackson3455 some messers found had their blades identified as being made in Italy tho. And Italy doesnt have messers I dont think.
