Jerry Reynolds and Grant Napear are the most important voices to hear from for Kings analysis! Ryno is in great hands learning from them.

Sounds like you guys, my fav experts, acknowledge that the 6-game loss problem to NO is about length which is personnel not coaching. Monte must get better, longer players than we have.

My final grade is a solid C and I can understand those giving a D but mine is based on losing Monk down the stretch. It's based on the win against the Warriors. That's the best win in like 20 years and definitely better than losing to them last year. Yes kings didn't get in the playoffs but the pels were just a poor matchup. I also like the improved D individually with Keegan/fox and Ellis. The kings were also good playing against the west compared to the weaker east so the upside is there even if they just keep Monk and not improve elsewhere. Of course kings need to improve the talent after standing pat this year. So I give a lot of weight to the injuries as that degraded Sabonis offensively and even Fox as he was asked to do too much. So, beating the warriors at full strength in their biggest game of the season warrants a C on that alone.

Equally important as the West teams biting at the Kings' heels: Memphis, SA, Houston...are the 30+-something-led teams, ala the Lakers, the Clippers, the Suns getting older, slower. Case in point, it's clear the Lakers, the Warriors, the Suns, struggle against the younger, faster, closer-to-their-prime Kings.

Comment on the playoffs...shooting percentages are way down and if the kings didn't lose monk would be very competitive against most teams I believe. yes they would still lose against Denver and the pels but it would be 50/50 against most teams. Next year, others will continue to age and kings will still grow in their primes with Monk of course. They need to upgrade Barnes position to compete against the pels and Denver as interior defense plays a huge part against those teams but optimistic they are still improving and just needs a piece or two.

I enjoyed watching the kings but im thinking that they need lin to get way better. They need a big man to help sabonas. Also fox is not really a great point guard. He is good at driving and shooting but passing is not so much. I think keegan and huerter have promise, monk is really good but needs the ball more. monk and fox are good in the back court, murray and huerter in the front court and sabonas is center. I think sabonas is really good but he lacks movement without the ball as well as murray. Huerter is really good with movement but doesnt shoot enough and passes a lot. He is better shooting more.

On Mike Brown...he did great in improving the D as they were very competitive even when shooting poorly. However, the team lost to a lot of bad teams, couldn't hold a lead or win those 50/50 games down the stretch. Of course monk going down was huge but he could have drawn more set plays for both Barnes and Murray ..in fact, if he made them the first options early and fox becoming more offensive down the stretch would be a better strategy. Fox has to get them more shots the first 3 quarters so they can be reliable in the fourth. Sometimes Barnes and Keegan disappear because they had bad shooting start...and kings just panick...so the team with Monk can win 50 games and Brown has to take the blame for losing so many leads and lack of planned sets down the stretch.

Not to mention Memphis will be better next year, and so will Houston and San Antonio

Keegan single handed. obliterated Klay and Curry with one hand behind his back on loan from. God.

Pretty hard to credit them with improving defensively when, apart from a few games, every defensive effort was wasted with a 20 point collapse that cost the game.🤷🏼‍♂️

If they didn't improve defensively they wouldn't even be in the games.

Gm' connection.... Embid would be worth trading Fox. Kings have to get past Denver.

I'm just disgusted. Maybe in a few weeks I can be more objective. As of now this season was an F. Failing grade for a failure of a season. You just can't drop games against teams with 8-10 wins in Jan/Feb/Mar. They deserve to be on their couches right now.

Quit blaming 2022-23 NBA Head Coach of the Year, Mike Brown for this .561 winning team

My take on Fox this season is he IS clearly the Kings best player. Others will argue that it's Sabonis. However Sabonis can't get us a bucket when needed and no time in NBA history a best player can't get you a bucket or draw all the defense at the end of the game. Now Fox tried to take it a spot up to be an MVP candidate with improve D and scoring more. He shot 43% from 3s in December and averaged over 30. That had fox thinking that's the way to get to SGA level BUT SGA actually became all NBA when he cut down his threes last year from 5 to 2.5 a game ..fox instead goes from 5 to almost 8...sorry you have to be a career 40%+ shooter like Curry or doncic or Klay to shoot that many 3s...so naturally he reverts back from January to March shooting 32/33% and now the kings are more inconsistent and depending even more on the 3s! So, hopefully fox and coaches realizes this and dials it down next year. SGA took 3 3s against the pels and missed all but he didn't shoot a single 3 in the first half and they still controlled the game with his 2s.

Agreed that Fox is the better player. However, Sabonis can get you or Harrison Barnes an open look to hit a playoff-game-winning shot ala Game 4 or 5 last 1st Rd playoff series vs. the defending NBA Champions. Don't underestimate the NBA's best Rebounder, 2 years reigning, and 2024's 6th best Assist man (counting all NBA positions & players) off. Are you flicking kidding me? Wow... 🤔

Why does Keegan have to have everything given to him ? The reason we lost that game was because we took shots from Fox and sabonis in first quarter who were hot to give Keegan shots who was afraid and pouting all game . Also Keegan doesn’t pass when he covered and he is easily rattled and starts crying all game .

Losing Jordon is a blow. No mention? Detroit Pistons have a huge cap on Malik as a starter. Jaden Ivey is a bust.

Why does no one talk about how Keegan doesn’t make any attempt to pass when he gets the ball on those stupid dho or set plays for him to get an open three ? He is like a short bus kid that has to have everything done for him to get a shot off then if he covered he too low iq to see he covered and just make a simple pump fake and pass to open guy ?

  • @JackyJohnson23
    @JackyJohnson23 24 дня назад

Keegan is not good . He is not able to make decisions when he gets ball . He either jacks up a bad shot or gets the ball stolen .

  • @Waltvault

Ryno is on to something about trading fox. But you would have to get a really talented all around point guard in return. One who may not be as good at iso than fox but could facilitate better and knock down 3’s.
