- In Siberia, Edik lives among the Nenetses, a nomad clan in the north of Siberia. He’s still a child but he now has like every Nenetse before him to face wolves on his own to protect the 4 000 reindeer of his clan. This is the difficult passage he has to overcome to become a man.

The moment when the boy came back with the clan herds brought me to tears of joy. Beautiful documentary...
Me too, I refused to cry but it was an amazing sight.
Spoiler alert
Never in my life have i seen a child as brave as this kid. ❤️
I'm so proud of this brave little boy.
Any other kid in the world who would sleep outside in -50° would not live to tell about it. He's got my respect.
i can do that .. easy
@Nica Otherwise known as a fur coat.
Falling asleep is the easy part. Waking up is the problem.
I am an adult and even with all that skin on I would freeze out there ..
This kid was born in this kind of weather, thus he is used to it, wich plays a great part in this!
Their school bus is badass!!
Haha 😂 right? Forget the yellow school bus
Its school tank. 😅
only the russian would think of doing somthing like this

Regarding to all older parents, that’s how they went to school just without that red bus tank 🤔
Edik is like an inspiration to us, what a brave kid!
Hard work, the importance of family and responsibility. We can all learn from these simple but resilient people.
A heart-warming documentary film.
As a father I can understand why Edik needs to be trained to lead and survive in such environment..thanks for a good documentary... despite the harsh weather these people work hard to ensure good food on the tables and keep themselves warm.. greeting from Kuala Lumpur Malaysia..

Brilliant documentary and presentation
😳 i am so stunned how edik managed to bring back the herd of reindeer and find his way back home.
What a amazing child edik is!
Yes, he overcame a lot!
There was a time where i go 500 meters away from my hotel and i cant find my way back. 💀
Not to mention, he brought back the cameraman safe as well.

Way to spoil it! 😡
Wow, what a tough lesson for Edik. I happy he decided to continue his education and further in the future, he'll know if he wants to follow the Nenetse tradition or not. Great documentary.
Nenetse Eskimo
But it's sad to see his people extinct the life style extincts.
No need to be in this region ,, let all the people move to another region,,, such vast area in another part for better living,
@@srlittilemarysabs2138 not everyone wants a suburban lifestyle, animals live anywhere and humans are animals. The way they live is beautiful and probably fulfilling, also they’re obviously used to the cold 💀
@@srlittilemarysabs2138 I’d rather live there. Modern life offers you nothing but comfort, at the cost of happiness and humanity.
I've been learning a lot about the world living from this channel. Thank you for sharing, friend ❤.
A mum is a mum regardless where she is from she was deeply worried about her son while the father was there to reassure her. The father is the one to help his son to become a man, he was confident so was his son. Nowdays and specially in western culture there is no such thing as this, teaching a teenager to take responsibility of his actions.
In western society, a teenager cannot even cook for himself, he spend his time playing and disrespecting his elders.
Another thing I noticed in this documentary is the family unit, the clan, there is no such thing as individuality, they all work together and support each over, thats help a lot in raising children because they learn by example.
That’s why I’m not a fan of most western society. And when I say that I mean most of America. I live in the hard working at a young and poor south Alabama. Not as humble as they are but still Humble non the less
You have a limited view of western society. Growing up in America in the 1990s and 2000s I had to cook for my family frequently and most of my friends did as well (yes even the boys). I also had weekly and daily chores (cleaning, dishes, mowing lawns, pet care) to complete on top of my requirement to do good in school. In the summers when I was not in school I had to get a job to gain skills. If I got in trouble I had to take responsibility for my actions. Most children in any place in America have that level of responsibility, and those who didn't had "bad parents" and were not within societal norms.
Agree 100% with you!! People in authority and celebrities in the west are trying their best to destroy family unit by brainwashing the masses and young ones with lgbt, feminism( where young girls want to be alone and live the life independently without taking the responsibility of anyone) and other horrible stuff. 🙄🙄
THEY KNOW SOCIETY OF STRONG MEN WOULD NEVER ALLOW WHAT IS HAPPENING.THAT IS WHY MASCULINITY WAS ATTACKED FIRST.

Much better than most of the movies out there.
It's an adventure thriller.
Real life Hero!
I agree
Poor Edik, what a hard life, you need courage to fight off wolves at night by yourself in -50 degree weather. Maybe it's a rite of passage, I know indigenous people also have similar rites for young men in the Amazon. They pass or they die. I have deep respect for those traditions. They have to overcome self doubt and have spiritual strength and courage. That's a a real man.
This is incredibly hard lives they live. Can't comprehend the amount of work and struggle they do just for the bare minimum...
This boy got my respect. And that dog? That’s a strong dog
wat terrible life foe eddie, damn so weather
@@jimmytan5479 for you it might seem terrible but for these people it's normal. They don't complain they survive and take care of their own
"A free and courageous man" that hit deep at the end..
Because if he left and continued to study he would not be neither
So much respect to Slice and the Nenetses! 🙇🏻♀️
The camera man is keeping his eye on Edik but it was Edik who found and recognised his family's reindeers and incredibly, found his family's new camp. I completely admire this seemingly impossible feat, undertaken at such a young age.
I watch these documentaries, where boys become young men and, as part of the process they understand about their culture and who in their tribe is worth listening to, and why their knowledge is so valuable.
No such thing exists in England any more, as far as I can see.
Many boys and men, don't appear to know what their role is any more 😢
"Becoming a man in England...🤔"
Same as anywhere. Hope you have a good male or female in your life, who cares to show you the ropes or, that you have been raised right from the beginning.
Men know their role in England, but you have to understand that in modern England all people have more choices than the Nanets in Siberia - we are not restricted to being reindeer herders to survive.
@@kadensmike8190 very true
Thanks feminism for this, there's no gender roles anymore since most people believe they're "harmful", most educated people have fought hard in the last 50 years to erase any clear gender distinction in western societies, so today any father that wants to inculcate in their son a specific set of "masculine" behaviors will be shamed in their social circle and deemed a chauvinistic man that is teaching harmful stereotypes to their son. There is literally no standard of masculinity anymore in western societies.
I dont think the camera man went with him , pretty sure it was b roll footage
Total respect for these people ,what a breathtaking documentary
i am half hearted with this. I give so much respect to Edik and to his father who has so much trust(with worry) on his son to carry on the mission successfully. That, he has to be responsible and accountable of any duty given. And when he came back with the lost herd herd, he was deeply appreciated by dad and mom. Now that is parenting.
As much as i want to preserve traditions, education should not be ignored too. There will be different kinds of wolves to battle, herds to guide in finding another way of life. The world outside Nenetses is big to adventure.
What adventures? A 9 to 5 job?
@@8catweazle Has it's fair share of wolves :p
@@8catweazle Award winning comment! Yes indeed, civilised life has no adventures whatsoever: it's basically slavery all the way!
Mind blowing.

All the respect to Edik and what a legendary people the nenetse are
Their life seems hard . And that child is very brave ,he is real warrior of life
There comes the reality that after your elders and parents are gone, one can only rely on oneself for survival of your family.
When truly felt it can be very scary, but if you meet those challenges straight on and succeed... Edik will find his way, he's a good soul.
Absolutely amazing documentary. Filmed so well, can’t imagine, how difficult it must have been. May the spirit and blessings of your ancestors always be with you all and your families Thank you for this knowledgeable and gripping documentary🙏
This is how men are raised and warriors are built. Respect young man 🙏🏽
Thumbs up to the camera team they did a very incredible job.
What a tough way of upbringing. Like Edik's mother, I'd be dead worried too but his father believed his son's endurance. He sure got a lot of praise when he arrived. I'm glad he chose to continue his studies.
What a beautiful documentary, thank you Slice for sharing this with us
So much respect for this clan and also for Edik. I wish them happiness
Big up Edik. Most of us misplace our keys and go into panic mode. This kid handled it forthwith without complaining👍🏾👍🏾
thank you 💥it's so eye opening...man I'll never complain abt winter chills..tey are nothing compared to tis🤔
The Nenetses are such incredible people. I am certain that Erik's parents are very proud of him. What a life! I hope that if the Nentses wish to continue living in the tundra, where the reindeer is currency, they do.
Completely engrossing. Thank you to the team who made and uploaded this.
What a baptism of fire for young Edik! He did very well to find the stray reindeer and bring them back to camp. Another excellent documentary on Slice.
*Thank you SLICE for a good story about courage, responsibility*
What a tough life 🙏
For us. Not for them.

My ancestors come from another country and I have no idea what their traditions are. Make me sad. We are a new country and unless you Aboriginal this is only at the most 5 generations. But I’m still proud of that. I just wish for a wonderful tradition to pass down.
What a brace boys I mean man now ☺️ he definitely deserves being a man as I know men who couldn’t do what he did. Great documentary!! Study, learn of the world. But always go and help dad and mum out.
Obviously edik wasn't alone in the storm. The cameramen are with him
Hhhhh
He just left the camera there and came home for a sleep
True, but think of the tradition, way of life that these has happened over and over and Edik probably have done without the camera people as well. It is their way of life that we can’t imagine able to live no more than one day.
Only one cameraman came back the rest died
Don't you kind of dislike that sort of... drama... artificially put into documentaries? Always irks me. This wasn't too bad though.
Well done Adik for your courage and bravery. You will be the one that carries out your ancestors unto the future. God Bless
An amazing showcase of human abilities! Great watch, thank you.

Why do they all look the same? Golden brownish eyes. Their settlements look straight out of a movie. Amazing. Also, the kid tasted an easy life in school so his dedication towards their traditional life seems dwindling. Any kid is like that. I hope he chooses his family as education will only give u an option of looking for a job to earn money and pay more bills. Their life is difficult but independent from needing so much money to survive. It takes great skill to heard that many animals. Generation of knowledge passed down
Because they haven’t been colonized

beautiful storytelling, visuals and sounds
Man, that kid is under a lot of pressure.
choice between school or family life at such a young age,
parents always emotional to see him they miss him, he falls behind on knowing the ways to work and catch deer in the family that makes him feel clumsy.
and a stubborn old dad pressures him to become a man in the family (while bringing him in danger and make him stay) while he feels more fit to keep going to school.
not a very stable way of growing up for him, i hope he keeps his confidence high and make the right choices he knows is good for himself and others.
I bet they are tough minded and can take the hardships but it makes me want to go there myself and help
Is like to know how much of this is factual and how much is added for suspense., the camera folks are w/ the boy, and I seriously doubt that even a very stubborn father would place his child in intentional danger. Other nomadic documentaries I’ve seen show great love of father for his children. Yes, not as much over coddling we see in America these days, definitely much more responsibility, but responsibility the father knows their child can handle.
A beautiful, quality film production!
Edik is more of a man than half the men in this world. Western societies image of being a man is far from it. I wouldn’t even be able to last a day in Ediks shoes😂 or should I say 3 layered elk skin boots.
🤣🤣🤣
Hard life, still study... cannot fine the word to describe. Amaze how they live. How strong they are.
Hope they always in healthy. 💕
