- Pilot Vlog 26. I take an airline flight down to Orlando Florida where I'm supposed to pick up a Cessna Citation M2 at the Cessna Service Center and fly it to Saint Louis. Unfortunately, I found a problem with the airplane as i was doing the preflight. The necessary part to fix the aircraft was not at the center so instead of flying the M2 back, I had to get a hotel room and spend the night.

Thanks for sharing this kind of stuff with us. Gives a better picture of corporate pilot life.
+SyberPrepper Thanks for watching and your welcome.
really enjoying the vids, thanks mate
+The Medek thanks Medek
Captain Moonbeam. There is NO way that I, your humble servant, could do what you do! WAY to much activity for "Moi!" :)
Well, then again, I'm 77 years old, and you are a "whipper-snapper." (I mean that in a good way :) Great videos. Thanks.
My aviation competence was (no longer fly) getting up early enough, to make those "fly in" breakfasts." :)
+Michael Donavon Thanks Michael. It's odd to hear you say that because, I'm normally thinking to myself "I need to stop being lazy and get on the ball, pick it up a little bit. My copilot puts me to shame. He's older than I and is a workout machine. he also does lots of volunteer work like working on peoples houses that need help and every time we fly he's talking about the half dozen projects he's been doing since we last flew.
Wow! Really enjoy your videos and will continue watching. Thanks
lol Jeff, I know you guys flew together recently but did either of you vlog it?
+Noah Acton I'm very sad to say I had set up the GoPro but it didn't record. Just took a still shot. I think it was user error.
Please disregard my post on another of your videos. I just in the last two days started watching your vlogs. On a previous one I asked if you came to MCO FSI for training. Obviously on this one you say you do. Thank you. Hope to see you next time you're here!
Hey captmoonbeam, how do you get into your kind of job doing what you do?
+Razgriz_Reborn It takes a lot of time and experience as well as being in the right place at the right time. One other thing is that I'm typed in nine different corporate jets and can fly single pilot in three. If you add all the sub variants of those aircraft it gives me the advantage of being useful in a lot of various situations

I come be your wing man Capt, ;).... I'm not CFI cert but working on my commercial and atp. What kind of turbine or non turbine hours does your company require, to hire. Thx.
you would think that someone working the flight line would have noticed hey theres a decent puddle under one of the engines
A fellow pilot suggested I always take a simple change of clothes (underwear, socks, shirt, etc) with me if I'm flying a cross country and get stuck overnight somewhere due to mechanical issues, weather, sickness, etc. I stopped taking the change of clothes with me, but I think I'll put them back in my flight bag now. I always learn something from your videos, even if it might be due to your misfortune! Clear skies to you.
+Geoffrey Gallaway Normally I do carry an extra set but I thought I'd travel light on the airlines this trip. Bad idea,
Hi boss! Could you shoot some video about your preparation for the flight, calculating the route, AIP and NOTAM inspection , and weather chart . Do you use e6b?:D Just curious .The worst thing for me is to be in a hurry , what about you ? Thanks!
+Mike Thomson For me it's running to catch a connecting flight when you're hungry and gotta pee but, you run past the mens room because they're about to close the door. I honestly can;t remember the last time I used an E6B. I use fltplan.com for flight planning and every aircraft I fly has an FMS (Flight management system)
wow, crazy day! you might know this already (tell me to shut up if you do lol) that chili's at the southwest terminal at lambert is open for breakfast, unless you didn't have time to sit down and eat also, early bird on Southwest...$12.50 each way, guaranteed A boarding pass and you don't have to check in 24 hrs before your flight to get it ;) Can't wait to see the follow up, ty!
+Brian McGee I've thought of going to the Chili's before a flight for breakfast but, I've been worried about it taking too long and having to run before getting food. All good points. Unfortunately, it's hard to overcome the wrong airline/terminal factor. At least it was the right day.
Looks like the 'ole saying struck again..."Time to spare...go by air!" Can't wait for the continuation...
+david barker So true David.
Sounds like a day dictated by Murphy's Law. Hope everything got smoothed out eventually.
+Jim Curlott We left the M2 behind and everything was back on track by the next morning.
Your job obviously isn't very boring. What about a dispatcher who coordinates irregularities? Is there one?
+Michael Mitiszek We have someone who quotes trips but, that's it.
It's funny how people don't realize how badly a mech failure can affect flight ops. This is a great example of how that happens.
+Curt Chapman Your're right about the disruption. Thanks Curt.
I am currently a Aircraft Maintenance student through Pittsburgh Institute of Aeronautics, and I can't wait to get my license so I can start fixing aircraft! Hopefuly I will be able to catch issues like that before they cause a huge mess!
+Omeg~Alpha97! My nephew went the same route but through another school. He loves his job.
sounds like you were having one of those wonderful days in a corporate pilots life hope you do a follow up video. I am curious how it all worked out. Great job and a big hand clap for taking the time to film on such a hectic day.
+Wayne Banach Thanks for watching Wayne. I'm gonna do day two as soon as I can. Hopefully Monday will be the latest I get it up.
Love the videos put you should have went deeper into the issue of the aircraft problem vs cutting it short. keep up the good work but show more aircraft set up.
Thanks..
thanks Doug.
If you want pre check every time I would recommend paying $100 for five years and that also gives you global entry when you fly international on the Wirlines. Also great job on all the videos.
thanks. I just did the known traveler last week.
@8:13 ... So, if you needed to wash your under garments would they wash them for you..? lol!
+BossaNossa1 Why do that when all you have to do is turn them inside out?
You’re a great problem solver and solution finder, in addition to being a great pilot. Thanks for the informative vlog.
Thanks for the very kind comment. 🙂
Please eat real food, you know about blood sugar dropping and such.
+K Butler Good point K. I do need to watch what I'm eating on trips. Once you put it on, it's hard to take it off.
👋🏻KSRQ ☀️🌴🇺🇸🛩
O.k. starting @ 8:17 I truly believe you need an assistant to handle all these issues... :)
+BossaNossa1 I agree.
Love your work, but try to talk to the camera lens not the camera screen ;-) Keep the vlogs coming!
I'll be the first to say that I'm terrible at that. But, I'm committed to getting better.
@3:43 ... I was waiting for the flight attendant to come on the intercom and ask, "Does some one know how to fly a jet!?" and low and behold you'd spring to attention!!! lol! By the way those energy bars you bought, I was focusing on the almond/cranberry flavor thinking I could mentally steer you to buy that one hahaha...
+BossaNossa1 That's strange Bossa because, when I was standing there I felt like I was being guided by some kind of force. "Take the almond/cranberry"
''The Force....captainmoonbeam.....do not fight the force"
LOL
I used to deliver airplanes but a lot smaller than what you fly. My specialty was airplanes with tailwheels and fabric covering.
+Jim Foreman one of my aviation regrets is that I never got my tail wheel endorsement
How come sometimes you fly from the right seat but others times it's the left.
probably they take turns flying pilot in command
Isn't there a Citation Service Center at ALN?
+Brent Staulcup Yes but, this aircraft was originally flown to Orlando on a trip then needed some warranty work, it was fixed, then had another problem.
how does a Cessna service center not have a part? or did it come from the engine manufacturer?
+Sam Hogue The part was coming in from another service center and was there the next day. Unfortunately, we couldn't wait for it.
ah ok thats what i figured. nothing like dealing with the logistics of aircraft parts
That's a bugger... Hope you got up alright
+alex davidson Went back and picked it up. I'm flying it tomorrow.
Not gonna lie. ..jealous. ..there is an m2 next to my school...could look at it all day...safe travels
The devil is in the details.
very true.
I love your videos. I hope you didn’t vote for trump.
positive negative story
+Skyhawk It's on days like this that we joke about livin the life and just another day in paradise.
haha best of luck
Just started watching you videos today, and wow... this is the coolest stuff on RUclips.
+Ryfle60Aviation Thanks, glad to here you're enjoying the videos.
