My high school art teacher, Mr. Ricks, grew up in Marion, Indiana and went to school with James Dean. Dean was a few years older and would beat him up some in grade school but they were friendly in high school. He said what you saw onscreen was just him. He could be a bit of an oddball, duck out of a party for 2 hours then come back & never say a word about where he went. He said he he didn't remember him being big into the drama club in high school but he did get a part in the one play, senior year, that he heard an agent was coming to and that's how he was discovered, lol. My teacher, Mr. Ricks was a great guy and kindly indulged all my questions about my idol and his classmate. He said Dean wasn't acting, he was just being himself and that's why he found his fame so amusing.😘

How amazing to be with Sal Mineo (or any member of the cast) at the Griffith Observatory at the places where they filmed those great scenes from Rebel Without a Cause.

Beautiful human being sal was🙏 So talented! So sad to hear him talk about the scene in rebel where he gets killed. Sadly two years later somebody took his life. He's laid to rest back home in New York. R.I.P my brother 🙏❣️

James Dean was a method actor, his mood swings would be common.

Hell of a scene , so real and so believable.
That's the actor able to "naturally" recall
    emotion .

I feel with all my heart that James and Sal are together again! Continuing their strong friendship in another reality? perhaps even laughing and joking also
finding out death doesn’t really exist.

This is very moving, loved it. Sal spoke of trying to contact Dean in the afterlife, 3 years before he himself lost his life

Two great early roles for Sal Mineo were in the films Dino and Who Killed Teddy Bear! I saw each one many times in very late night/early morning TV in the sixties. And of course when he played Gene Krupka in his story!

I can only imagine what a powerhouse Sal would have been if he was still alive. I would love to have seen him as Father Karras in "The Exorcist." It would have changed his life, and i think he would have been magnificent! What do you think?

You are right , he would have been awsome in that role and it would have given him the extra recognition that he so much deserved .
