My favourites: 1- Tineke 2- Burgundy 3- Lyrata (is #3 because I only have three types for now) I am interested in the “Yellow Gem” and the variegated Benjamina
It is a matter of patience for many plants. Eventually, they come down in price and are more available. I love the Shivereana! I haven't seen that one here in the states and I think I need to add it to my wish list now! You have an amazing collection .
I only have a fiddle leaf bit after seeing all your beautiful ficus and hearing about their care I think I may buy another. I have the light requirements you detailed...I'm going to keep my eyes open for a ficus plant in the near future.
Yes! I was a bit cautious myself with my ficuses at first, but when I saw my fiddle take off, I went and got the rest hahaha and they have grown so much! Let me know what you get next! :D
I have few Ficus Elastica Burgundy and one Variegated one. I put them on the deck in full sun and forget about them until winter. Basically they care of themselves. In the winter I water them maybe once a month. Easy plant.
Beautiful collection. All the Ficus look very healthy and happy. I just got a 6” pot of Ficus Benjamina Variegated THANKS FOR THE TIPS! This video was right on time for me. 💚🪴
Such a beautiful ficus collection and I love how you designed your plants around your home. My favourite ficus for appearance is shivereana, tineke and trying to get my hands on the Triangularis. Sentimental my green robusta and Alli as they both put up with house decorating but looking big and beautiful hehe
Beautiful collection! I have a very large, tall single trunked ficus longefolia and I named her Truffila after the Lorax trees because she has a Pom Pom of leaves atop her one trunk and she is adorable! She’s been beautiful and happy for about 8 yrs. In the large pot she came in. Lately, the very tips of the leaves are just a bit yellow. I’ve not changed watering. Does this variety get root bound and would it be good to change pot? Some plants like being root bound… thanks for your help.
I purchase an Aubrey on clearance for 50 cents. It was small but in pretty good condition. It's one of my favorites also and it's doing great. I keep it out side so it gets rain water most of the time. I live in Melbourne, FL so I can.
Great video. Ficuses are one of my favourite plants What about watering for the lyrata? Does it like completely dried out soil? What kind of soil do you use for your ficuses?
@@rhodealexandre6583 you're so welcome. As fas as soil goes, I use the Osmocote indoor plants soil mix for all my plants. They seem to love it. 💚 Thanks so much for watching.
I actually use eco oil from the brand Multicrop. You can use either one. In my experience they do the same thing, but eco is cheaper and doesn't smell as bad as neem. :)
Where did you get your Shiv from ? I've never seen them, not even once here out in the country. And what's crazy is I'm only a hour and a half away from you to the east. There's a big bunnings here too. Thanks for another great video ! 👍💚
I have several suppliers that grow them, and they're slowly becoming more readily available! Not quote common yet, but not rare now either. Hope you find one soon! 🥰
Really enjoyed you snd your ficus'. Moving to Florida with lots of light in the house so I'm looking to add to my already large plant collection. Alreaf got a fig. She's doing well. Initially didn't have enough humidity so the new growth put out spotted leaves (edema), but a 24 hr on humidifier help with that. Where can I get those tote bag-like plant containers. They are fab!!!
They look like canvas tote bags. UPDATE ON MY FICUS: While packing she was out on the stairs. It was an unusually hot, sunny day in NY. She got SO SUNBURNED, I was so sad 😭. When we got here to Florida she got a haircut (removed dead leaves and the dead on a few leaves was trimmed off). When we settled in I put her out in the Linai in the shade. I had poked a 1/4" poly cotton wick up in to the pot and put it in a ziplock with a little water so she didn't dry out during the very hot moving days in the car. I decided to leave the wick in when we got here. Now, the pot is in another, larger pot that's sitting on an upside down bowl with cord long enough to sit in the overflow, bottom water so she can have a little drink of water all the time without drowning (it's very hot here). She's growing like mad! She loves the humidity and heat, NO DIRECT SUN. About 6 new gorgeous, shinny, large leaves came in in 2 months. She loves it here!
I am not a ficus fan🙊because I CANNOT figure out there needs! However, I do have an elastica and benjamina right now. Both gifted. They are doing okay but it’s high summer here at the moment so let’s see when winter comes to visit! 😂 Yours is absolutely gorgeous!!♥️
Shade and lots of humidity. Mine are thriving with indirect light. Mine has a 1/4" poly cotton wick in the pot and that pot is in a larger pot with an upside down bowl so the long wick gets wet but the roots are not constantly just-watered wet. The wick is to avoid total dry out here in v. hot Fl., zone 9A.
My fiddle is in an air conditioned room, but it also is in a space that gets a lot of light. It's doing very well, but I believe it's a combination of a lot of aspects that keep it happy. Every situation is specific to an individual space, so I can't truly give you a definitive response on this.
I'm trying to find out what kind of unicorn I obtained. I found what I thought was a regular green Bejamina at Lowes however some of its branches have variegated leaves that are neon splashes on dark green. I thought it was just a white/green bejamina with immature leaves or just simply reverting..... but I own both of those plants as well and this variegation is flipped inside out? I found another person on Facebook that has the same variegation but he wasn't able to find a name for this variant either. Have you seen or heard of this type before?
Hi Tommy! Thank you for your comment. I am so intrigued now! Seeing as you got it from Lowes, I am guessing I wouldn't have seen it yet, as we don't have Lowes here in Australia. If you ever post about it on Instagram, please tag me, I would love to see what it looks like! :) My IG is @thatfoliagelife
Actually the figs you have also produce edible fruits in they're native environments. Especially the benjamina❤. The ficus we all eat, ficus carica can fruit without a wasp and are more temperant or cold tolerant than the others.
I got an Audrey this year she has really grown fast‼️ I typically cannot keep burgundy and other ficus alive. I’m am over watering type of gal. I appreciate the info in this video, thanks for sharing.
There is a chance you might have gone up too big of a pot size? The roots might still be finding their way through the pot and have no energy to push out new leaves. Hope they show you some action soon! 💚

I am in Australia where we get extreme weather on both ends.
Hello Appreciate your video. I purchased a single stem slanky ficus audrey recently. Any tips for making their leaves bigger.
More light and regular fertilising! :)

Hello! I have been using the We the Wild Grow and my plants just LOVE it! :)
Many Ficus trees in cultivation are also strangler figs. An example of this is Ficus benjamina which happens to be my first Ficus tree.

Thank you for sharing! I think the main thing for ficus is bright indirect light!
And humidity!!! What a difference with a humidifier or a humidifier environment.

Thanks for sharing @thegiftlady1 . Yes, lots of light and fertilisation with each watering. And regular cleaning of the leaves. :)
When you said “Google” it triggered my Google home mini to search for cannabis stores near me 😭🤣
😂😂😂😂 whoops...!
What do you feed it to make the leaves so large?
Your plants are beautiful. Do you rinse the neem oil off?
Thank you! 💚 No, I don't rinse it off. I shake the leaves to remove any excess, but let it dry on the leaves. :)
Nice job
