For a trade-in for the S22 Ultra, Samsung gave me $750-$800 (depending on when you bought it) for the S21. For the S22 Ultra, Samsung is only offering $500, and the credits last year were $150-$200 (once again, depending on when you ordered). This year, there was only $100 in credits. Samsung has really scaled back this year. I purchased the S22 Ultra for $449.99 last year. This year, because of lower trade in value, the S23 Ultra would have cost me $699.99. The only major difference is the SoC and the cameras. I would be willing to bet that neither of those differences is worth $250.00. Please, when you get the opportunity, do a camera comparison between the S22 Ultra and the S23 Ultra.
Yes, they tanked the trade-in values this year, seemingly deals with the carriers to push more of their sales. Either way, most high end phones these days aren't worth upgrading year to year and I suspect this is true for the S22U to S23U. If you're willing to stay with your carrier for a couple years, then those deals are good. Otherwise, might be best to save the $$$. Google Fi has the S23U for $600 upfront as long as you keep a line active with them for 4 months, which is one of the best deals I've seen so far.
@Grant Likes Tech I don't purchase phones through my camera simply because their deals are configured to loo nice, but usually, the discount they offer is scheduled over a 36-month payment plan and you're generally required to buy another or upgrade your current line. In the end, you usually end up paying more. But I stick with GSM carriers as imported phones only work with them. Google Fi will stretch the payments over two years, and if you want to pay off now, you are paying full price, and your rebate is scheduled over time. So, in order to fully realize those savings, you must stay with them for 24-36 months.and purchase an additional line or upgrade your current plan. Bottom line, you slways pay more.

Samsung, like the iPhone, often uses the same sensor in its latest generation..... maybe the S25 will use a 1" sensor
Supposedly they have self-imposed limitations to the sensor they can use, so if true, then probably not anytime soon.
The sensor on the 23U is a gigantic upgrade make no mistake
@@stx7389 Physically, not really since it's the same sensor size as the previous HM3. If anything, improvements would come from the ISP and what Samsung is calling their AI and "Nightography". Terrible marketing name, but if it works, then great.
@@GrantLikesTech It's not just sensor size that's all there to a sensor !! The sensor is greatly improved owing to it having ability to "absorb" more light before getting saturated thus effectively capturing more light( thus no need for sensor to be physically larger) with the sensor of same size !! Also it's a very intricate balance samsung has to fit in 4 cameras with one being 10× folded lens & at the same time make sure that the device looks classy & elegant & nothing too nerdy as it's built also for the masses & need to compete with the elegant iphone. There is a lot more to it than what meets the eye!!
