Atlatls are a primitive dart or spear-throwing device. Some states still allow you to hunt with them. Here's how to make a primitive version for survival situations.
And people who are very well trained with these are pretty crazy and obviously our ancestors were extremely good with them as they had to be to survive
In science (and in my patrol skills training), it is taught that technology is confused with mechanization, technology is how an organism applies oneself to something (like a wood pigeon building a nest fit for purpose, able to withstand a storm as long as the tree does, how the bird applies oneself to the stick), not the 'object' that the organism is using. Hunter-gatherers still exist as well, city-folk don't seem to know that they still exist, they just believe in the stigma that it is "primitive".
Stone age sniper rifle... Don't quite have the range but will kill just the same... A truly deadly weapon... Our stone age forefathers weren't as simple as once thought..
@@Christians_outdoorswe have pretty much the same intelligence, the main difference between prehistoric humans and modern humans is environment. Prehistoric humans were forced to adapt and use their natural ingenuity in order to survive. Modern humans have the same intelligence and natural ingenuity, we simply aren’t forced to use it to survive, as we live in an environment that is able accommodate and support us.
Much better than guys using 10k pieces of equipment to make one. When someone wants to learn to make an atlatl they want to know how to make a primitive one.
Excellent video. I especially liked the description of the contact points between the spear and the "hand-retained" portion. It's also nice that you were able to say everything and just a few minutes.
Vary nice. Simple, and leaves the viewer with imagination on what it could be. This is an older video, but stay tuned, I'm gonna make a 50lb one with a duel elbow ridge. I'm going for a 250mph speed. Math is fun.
Schrade Uncle Henry... Great knife that dont cost very much.. It's designed as a Skinner but is quite versatile with the exception of bushcraft.. Tho it can be used as such in a pinch.. Many better options out there for a versatile bush knife... Try a K-Bar Becker for outdoor use.. It's the best overall outdoor knife currently in the market that won't break the bank.. Recon Marines use it as standard issue..
Hello sir I'm from foxfire in northeast georgia and I was wondering if you would like to be interviewed on the crafting of an atalatl as well as the history and skill behind or if you'd prefer to make a video on the steps and skills required to make the atalatl. Thank you sir
Is that a SCHRADE UNCLE HENRY GOLDEN SPIKE KNIFE?...( UH135)? vintage stock of those are good money now...I looove mine!...uhhm no...watched vid twice....wrong handle material I think,..but anyways awesome work on that atlatl..super cool vid!!!.thanks‼️🏁

If you look closely there is a button near the play button in the shape of a speaker, you can click that to mute the video, also if you keep looking you'll find that no one cares about your opinion on the music or any of your preferences. Good luck!
Imagine how many thousands of years it took for us to learn to make something like this. Keep the human spirit alive!
Amazing how simple yet elegant the design is i feel people strongly underestimate the intelligence of primitve cultures
Never underestimate the ingenuity of a hungry man
Imagine to have to invent this without RUclips or anything it's insane. We truly lost out contact with nature

Saudades dess desafiio em dose dupla
The best tutorial.for attlatl I've seen!! Very simple. Easy. And detailed. Thankyou
This guy made an atlatl, a dart, and then upgrade the dart all in a 2 minute video while other videos are 23 minutes and have more parts

They were much much smarter than us

We made them as kids. Cut a small groove in the blunt end and used a string with a knot to throw it.

That's the kind of video I was looking for
finally a good quick video without any blabla. subbed
Going into the woods to make one of these today, thanks for the great tutorial!
awesome. well done and concise. never saw the finger loop on there.

Great Lesson, Thanks for all the detail
The person who invented this: what if we take the sticks that we've been throwing, and use a stick to do it for us?
I like lessons with no words I learn better by observation
Great video. On point & informative !
Great vid! Thanks so much! Im going to attempt to make this for fishing
Gonna make one of these to throw the stick for the dog.
Very informative thanks
When im near a place with lots of trees i will 100% try this!
Dope video bro thank you for sharing
What is that awesome banging music!!!
What I've learned: Knives are almost as important as food. That explains why I've spent almost $600 on them in the last year.
If I could only take 2 items into the woods for two weeks, I'd choose a knife and a bowl.
What knife are you using?

Good Job! Thank you.

very nice brother !
The precursor to the bow and arrow, dating back to precivilization.
Stone artifacts are found identified as weights used on the spear thrower.
Your missing the fletching and that atlatl dart fleching
I don't see squat hitting a target. Nice Fade to Black at just the right moment.

Outstanding 👍 👍
Traditional tool for hunting
Cool,, gonna try that 😃
I like how bro never showed how far the dart went
Cool
Be careful making one just cut my finger and cut through my whole nail
Вспомнилось произведение Рони-Старшего.
You looked like ennio moricone
Thank you I hit my little brother with it and he ain't moving
Now do it without a knife..
Привет че за трек название пожалуйста
