Get Huddersfield up to big. If Burnley and Preston are in big then Huddersfield are. First team to win the English first division 3 times in a row, only 3 teams followed (Man Utd, Arsenal and Liverpool), 2nd longest unbeaten run in England, 1 FA Cup. Easily a big club and disrespectful to have us in the same tier as Blackpool, Plymouth and Leyton Orient.
I’m pretty sure Huddersfield don’t have the 2nd longest unbeaten run Forest did 40 games unbeaten in all comps which I’m pretty sure is second, correct me If I’m wrong but to my knowledge I’m sure it’s forest

@@theunitedcity 20 years in top 4 but 20 years without a first division title really drills this home
Northampton's only achievement is going from the 4th division to the 1st division in 5 seasons, then going back down to the 4th division in another 5 seasons. Ever since then we haven't been higher than tier 3 just bounced between tier 3 and 4 every few years. Best cup run was the 5th round back in the 70s when we played United and George best scored 6 and we lost 8-2
At least we were in the First Division....unlike 'boro or MK dumbs!
So the Cobblers should be average!
Great Video. One thing that I want to add is the comparison between Southampton and Huddersfield Town:
Huddersfield Town have won 3 League Titles, 1 F.A Cup, 1 Community Shield, become one of the only three clubs to won 3 League Titles in a row (others are Manchester United and Liverpool). They spent 32 Seasons in the Top Flight.
On the other hand, Southampton won 1 F.A Cup and spent 43 Seasons in the Top Flight.
In my opinion Huddersfield Town should be in Big categorie instead of Average because they're bigger than Southampton and you put them above Huddersfield Town.
Southampton have contributed so much to the Premier league as a franchise and football wise in whole though. They currently have the fastest goal and hat trick in the Prem, have one of the best youth academies in the league if not the world scouting the leagues all time top goal scorer and arguably you could take a handful of trophies away from one of the biggest clubs in England (Liverpool) if it wasn't for Southamptons scouting network
@@samcullum5527 they can put all that in their trophy cabinet.
@@MaxHTFC like Portsmouth any team that are now quite irrelevant claiming they're big because they won the league in consecutive years pre WW2 the argument is just pretty dead. Probably 99-100% of fans that were alive then are dead. Stop living in the past! You're not a big club
@@samcullum5527 I’d rather have major trophies from 100 years ago than scoring the fastest goals in the PL.
It’s all subjective and debatable on what defines club size, who has the best history, better fanbase based on population. But us and Portsmouth have 4 major trophies you have 1 and that’s a FACT.
@@MaxHTFC yeah not denying you have more trophies, congratulations if that's what you're after though definitely not a big club

Unfortunately for Forest, that was overshadowed by Liverpool winning 4 in a row immediately afterwards

As a Cardiff fan I would agree with average tbf, very up and down history for us, facup in '27, nearly won the old division in I think '24 and was up there until the 60's but then was near the foot of division 4 by the 80s/90s and now we're back in and around the prem/championship. Coventry are a big club. Very disrespectful to put them in the exact same tier as the likes of grimsby, leyton orient and notts county. (No disrespect to them clubs)

I think it's more that those clubs should be lower but yes shouldn't be in same group
Some clubs like MUFC are becoming more brands than football clubs, we (United) focus way too much on merchandising and brand exposure than actually football with the Glazers in charge
Big monie
@otovy do you agree that Liverpool are bigger?
You can't put Oldham in small and Bournemouth, Swansea, Hull, Leyton Orient, Plymouth, Reading, Millwall in average. Also Huddersfield is big, they have 3 1st division titles. You need to research football history guy.

QPR has got runner-up in prem and 2 championship wins, as well as 1 FA

Big up PNE. I've got a very distant relative that played CM for the club in the 1930's, before he went to War and before my family moved from Preston to America.
Preston north end, top flight champions twice, 2 FA Cups, FIRST ever double winners,FIRST ever champions, and ORIGINAL invincible.wow what a great history Preston north end have.
Weird fact about Ipswich town: their home record in European competition stands at W25 D6 L0
we have a song about that
They were legitimately one of the best teams in Europe in the early 80s. Winning the Uefa cup was arguably as tough as the European cup back then as it had more teams (European cup was only league winners I think).
no hartlepool, this is why jeff stelling left soccer saturday
I think this is mostly fair and very well informed by someone who clearly knows his football.
I would however take Liverpool out of Elite because how can you be elite with one league title in almost 40 years?
Additionally, the UCL titles they won were quite fortuitous (finishing 3rd in the group twice, beating Spurs in the final and a massive upset against Milan).
Chelsea is a weird one because, yes, they were a money project but its been twenty years and they have become a global brand. All things considered, my top four tiers would be:
Tier 1: Manchester United
Tier 2: Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea
Tier 3: Everton, Aston Villa, Leeds, Sheffield Wednesday
Tier 4: Newcastle, Spurs, Sunderland, Manchester City
answer to the 40 year question, bad management, and bad owners. remember there was football before the prem, my issue personally is newport being in tinpot
Liverpool has the most trophies in england. That automatically puts them in the elite.
@@mattparis02 Not too many "elite" clubs have 1 title in 40 years (and even that is tainted because it was during the covid season). Look, I know Im a Toffee but I honestly dont consider LFC an elite club.
@@neilefc877 That title isn’t tainted. Liverpool won it before Covid even started
@@mattparis02 I know what youre saying but the rules were so dramatically changed that season. Who is to say that LFC would have won that title if the subs rule, social distancing among staff members, not to mention sickness among opposition players and empty stadiums had not come into effect.
I dont think it matters though cause regardless of whether we can count 2019 as a title victory, LFC will win the league in a few months. So youve got your hands on a premier league title regardless.
villa are bigger than everton, they have 2 first division titles over us, but then we have 2 more fa cups, 5 more league cups (which they havent won) and a european cup, like come on
It's almost universally agreed though that Everton would have had more European trophies had it not been for Heysel (just to be fair to them).
Sorry I’ve never heard of Everton, who are they? Apparently they’re bigger than Aston Villa. But that’s not possible.
Wolves has more trophies than Sunderland and forest and invented the concept of european football. We are massive
Wolves deserve more respect - you are massive.
Up the Villa and mind the gap though.
Bet you didn't see that coming.
How can West Ham who fill out 60k seats and had every goalscorer of englands only world cup, be in the same category as PNE, Burnley, Bolton?
West Ham won 0 League Titles compared to Preston's 2, Bolton's 0 and Burnley's 2.
West Ham won 3 F.A Cups compared to Preston's 2, Bolton's 4 and Burnley's 1.
Also, West Ham won 1 Community Sheild compared to Preston's 0, Bolton's 1 and Burnley's 1.
In terms of Seasons in top flight,
West Ham spent 64 Seasons in top flight compared to Preston's 46, Bolton's 73 and Burnley's 59.
Just cos they've been given a big stadium paid for by the taxpayer doesn't mean they're a big club. What have they actually won?
West Ham have NEVER been champions that's why.
Everton should of got fucking massive! We have a lot of fans, a lot of division 1 wins, We have played the most top flight games, we have scored the most total goals, we have the record holder of most goals in a season (england) and most of footballs history everton was the best and on top!
Ipswich are unbeaten in europe at home, beat Inter Milan while we were in the first division (now the championship)
When people do these tier lists, wouldn’t it be easier to do it by say grade levels (e.g. A+, A, A-, B+, B, B-, C+, C, C-, etc). Terms such as ‘massive’, ‘big’, ‘average’, ‘small’, etc, are totally ambiguous and vague.

When judging clubs one is talking about support, infrastructure, fanbase and trophies or league positions. But crowds and trophies swing it above that.
I agree that Derby, Portsmouth and most of the other clubs should be termed at least 'big' but Leicester?!? There attendances are generally consistently good but THEY DO NOT HAVE THE ARROGANCE OF A 'BIG' CLUB LET ALONE MASSIVE ONE (I remember this being the conversation at the time they won the title and they almost seemed embarrassed by the fact they'd won it from some of the fans I heard). This counts against them doesn't it? Palace and Charlton should be on the big list just for potential and brilliant supporters.
Also I agree to demoting Middlesbrough because of the CONSISTENCY OF THEIR ATTENDANCES.
Since moving from Ayresome there have been times when I can remember when the stadium has been barely full although to their credit that has changed more recently and during a cost of living crisis and I can't fault their hardcore and Away following. But sometimes the attendances between 2000 - 2015 were not great.
Also let's see Spurs actually win something in living memory before you call them 'massive' after they virtually gave Liverpool the Champions League. They are 'relevant' and have big support - but they can't keep hold of players or managers - a basic requirement - and this relevance is only down to staying in the Premier League due to good financial and business acumen occasionally at the expense of incremental evolution. Their trophy haul overall is hardly better than the clubs in the tier below them and it is only stability and stadium/crowds that stop then being in the tier even below that. Forest MASSIVE?!? NO. They may punch above their weight and have a decent trophy cabinet with 2+ European Trophies, but have not done enough in terms of recent tenure in the top flight and need to shake off their yo yo tag which they now have just like Leeds (it took Oil money and several seasons for Newcastle and Man City to throw off that tag too). And more importantly let's see them build a 50,000 seat venue and FILL IT consistently. I remember seeing a handful of empty red seats at the beginning of their first top flight season in what seemed like forever in the Home areas - watch the TV footage and you'll see it for some of the early games - this in a ground that holds barely more than 29,000 with heavy stewarding. It gives me no pleasure saying it - it may anger some reading it but I actually know some Forest fans and know what I'm talking about (it's improved recently and they recently planned to expand and they converted some of the boxes for more seating) but they delayed publishing their season tickets sales that first season and their tickets WERE VERY CHEAP on match days and for the Season, even compared to EFL prices.
Villa deserve the massive tag even though they won the Champions League (sic) / E C less times and even though their story isn't as famous as Forest's. They could get away with having a Spurs size stadium and are here to stay - if they don't get a Europa or Conference or Champions League at least once in the next decade I'll be very shocked.
Just to annoy Forest even more - Sunderland and Derby have more seats to a greater or lesser degree and published attendances prove they actually sell out even in the 3rd tier some weeks let alone 2nd.
Also you're too harsh on Fulham (great fanbase as well as as potential and history).
sorry ?

3 league titles in a row BETTERED by no one and also an fa cup win, players like dennis law and frank worthington made their name with us alongside famous managers like herbert chapman and bill shankly who went on to revolutionise arsenal and liverpool. call it bias but we should be in big especially when clubs like southampton burnley and preston are being lumped above us.
for me, I would change only swindon up one, villa up one and bournemouth down one, other than that its perfect
You think Swindon is a bigger club than bournemouth 🤣
Never in my life have I been so hurt. Barrow in tinpot
England soccer players want to disrespect America? What does England want? Beat down #3? You're a bunch of flags!
