Cant thank you enough, my laptop was waaay overdue to be cleaned I sent it to a tech a couple years ago but decided to save the money. I bought a precision toolkit, and as of right now my idle temps are around 40-45C. It was a little scary when my pc wouldn't boot up, but I just had to re plug in my SSD. subbed
quick edit. after running for a short while the temps are closer to 55-60, sometimes spiking to 75, I expected the temps to rise a bit, but if they get too high I guess ill reapply the paste? I have some left over. i just hope I wasn't too light on the amount I used (a single line across like you showed. Regardless it would be user error, the tutorial is great.

Regarding your question, thank you for the support, if your idle temps are sitting around 45-55 and spikes that is fine, because you have a fan curve and that fan curve is based on temps, you can download msi afterburner and change the fan curve and have it cool down before hitting high temp but, no need for it.
next time use this paste: amzn.to/48aYAKf

No fan control on MSI Afterburner sadly for this laptop it seems. As of late I've had to switch over to the comfort mode profile on Omen Gaming hub in order to ramp up the fan speeds for additional cooling in the summer. If anyone knows any manual fan control software for this laptop it would be awesome to know😊 I've tried Speedfan and Fancontrol already with no luck😬

I repasted with Arctic Silver MX something paste. Temps stayed at 97-100C, but the GPU was fine around 75C max. Redid the paste but used the Thermal Grizzly this time. Applied in the same way, perhaps slightly more dense, and the temps are now around 77-80C max. Way better. If you run into this, make sure you put on the paste a bit thicker than you'd normally do on a Desktop CPU. Seems to help. Also, I can't say for sure if the Thermal Grizzly was better, I doubt it. Maybe slightly, but the application matters more along with proper torque for pressure on the plate with the 4 screws in a zig zag pattern.

regarding your situation, also make sure that the thermal paste that you get its not fake! there are 90% of the Arctic MX fakes out there on amazon and other sites. yes sometimes the thicker paste can fill the imperfections of uneven surface heatsinks better.

no te recomiendo gastar dinero en cambiar tu pads thermicas ya que no son importantes, y los Vrams no requieren pads al menos que vayas a hacer overclock al vrams entonces si ponle pads. y lo de mas pads déjalos como están.

I also have a Hp Omen laptop, the air vents under the laptop sometimes build up dust so I just clean the vents with a vacuum cleaner (without opening the case). I did this like 10 times but the last time when I did it and turned on the laptop, the fan on the left stopped working. I think now is the time to open the case and do a deep cleaning. I have been using the laptop for 3-4 years never cleaned the inside of it.
My question is laptop's battery is also depleted, its on 0%. Since its already dead is it okay for me to remove the battery completely and run the laptop without it? (plugged in to the power 24/7).

regarding your question: depends if there is big chunk of dust and when you vacuum it may get into the fan magnet and make worse the situation, the only recommendation i can do is, do one last repaste and after this every two weeks vacuum, this way you don't allow excess of dust to be buildup and you will only need to repaste every 3years.

Thank you for your feedback! If you wish to support the channel, you can like, subscribe, or do both!
Regarding your question, my friend, let me explain a few things to you. Even if you disconnect the power to the GPU, it will not activate the CPU graphics. There are other components that need to be modified in order to achieve that, and it's not as simple as just removing something.
Now, I can guide you on how to fix your laptop at home with a DIY approach. We often encounter this issue in the store, and I can assure you that your GPU is not dead. Under normal use, stress, or even overheating caused by laptop usage, there is no possibility of damaging the GPU.
Follow these steps, and you'll have your laptop up and running again:
Completely remove the motherboard and clean off the thermal paste from the GPU and CPU.
Place the motherboard on a wooden table.
Ensure there are no open windows, fans, or AC units turned on nearby.
Now that the motherboard is in a controlled environment and leveled, proceed to the next step.
Use a hairdryer set to maximum heat and medium air.
Hold the hairdryer about 1 inch directly over the GPU for approximately 10-15 minutes.
Allow the board to cool down for 20 minutes without touching, moving, or attempting to cool it down with anything.
Apply a good-quality thermal paste for reapplication, and enjoy your laptop.
Should you have any further questions or requests in the future, please don't hesitate to ask.

hi, regarding your problem with that model, the issue is at the DC charging port, you must have a simple component shortage on board, i dont know how much you know about the component, but for you you will need to find a technician to open up the laptop and test the components and find the shortage. thats a very old model and i dont have them around to open and try helping you, but again the best thing is to go to a technician near by to check the motherboard. sorry to inform you like this :(

@@uFixTek because in video you say 0.3, 0.4, 0.5 mm and I cant find thinner than 0.5mm on The Internet. Is it good idea to use calipers to measure them?

    • @uFixTek
      @uFixTek  2 года назад

always use a calipers to measure to double check, because the laptops have reversions, it means the same model could have a different pads or fan size, depending the time of production, this is common on consoles and laptops.
again i would highly recommend you to not replace them if they are not ripped or damaged to a point of no return, because by replacing them you are not getting any extra performance or extending the life span, the pads can last very long time. and this laptops are not overclock that means the vrams don't even require pads. i would say place a good thermal paste and enjoy.

Cuz aren't they gonna get dusty again?

    • @uFixTek

i like to clean the cpu and gpu when i remove the heatsink, to remove the excess of the thermal paste. after that i take it outside and shake and blow air and then i re clean the gpu and cpu before applying the paste always.

Was an idiot and didn't remove the battery when doing it (did it the first time with the removal and all was fine). This time the laptop doesn't react at all to the power button, nor does the light come on when plugging in the AC adapter on the side.
Cannot see any burned resistors or other fried stuff on the motherboard and no luck with removing the RAM and then doing the hard reset (30 sec power button thing). Any other suggestions?

    • @uFixTek
      @uFixTek  3 года назад

Oh boi, always when cleaning 1st remove the battery. ok you do need to take it to shop were they can check the components, for sure you have a burned resistor or a transistor, its cheap to repair if they know where to look for. :( sorry about your accident

Make sure that you plugged in the power from to the mobo correctly, it right next to the fan on the left (the side where you plug in the laptop). Once I checked that I found the problem and was able to use my laptop again.

Don't worry the issue is that you haven't placed the flex for the HDD all the way in the jack. you have to bring the flex cable in 45degreee in the jack and sit it down in board and lock it.

ok something is defiantly wrong : where did you purchased the thermal paste?, try using this paste:
      amzn.to/3fw50Lj
      its the best out there.
and dont replace the pads around the cpu or gpu, if you place a thicker pads it will push the heatsink away from cpu or gpu, keep the original pads.

Okay i will need you to do the following steps exactly:
      1. Remove both rams
      2. Disconnect the battery and power supply
      3. Press and hold power button for 30sec
      4. Place only one ram
      5. Plug the battery and power on if you get ho logo power off and place the 2nd ram and power on and wait 10sec
If the 1st ram plugged in and powered on and no screen, then place that ram on the next alot, and power on and if you get screen the power off and place the other ram and same thing 10sec and u should be good to go
Else if none of the above works the try starting the process with the other rams first
