Omg! This was EXACTLY what I was looking for. Simple gear! Thanks for sharing man. I’m getting ready for my AT thru hike! 🫶🏾
Wish you the best of times on the trail! Subbed and will be following along!
Thank you!
Slobo Here, dope vid. Be sure to set your tags. I would do your channel name and tags centered around content of vid "appalacian trail gear" etc. You can also set default tags in settings to save time with new vids. Keep grinding!
Thanks for the suggestions, I’ll get those taken care of soon. Still trying to figure all this out!
Have a peaceful and wonderful time on your journey, Johnathan is definitely proud of his dad and so am I, Nates mom... I will be following your journey, bless you and safe travels
Solid loadout. 🤓
Have amazing trip!!
Great info. Thanks.
Thanks for watching!
You should do a full length before picture and add it to your start video with stats (body fat, weight, etc. whatever you're comfortable sharing) then a full length picture for the end video with comparison info. I can send you the link for the video editor I use❤️
Not a bad idea. I’m sure I’ll look way different at the end of the hike compared to the start.
Great gear choices.
Solid gear. What is your approximate base weight?
Around 22 pounds
Would love to see how you pack it all into your bag, especially your bear canister. Does that go in the middle of your pack when it's all loaded up with food? Imagine it's the heaviest item when full. TIA.
Good idea, maybe I’ll show how I pack all my gear in an upcoming video. Yes, the bear canister goes right in the middle of the pack. It is definitely the most heavy item I carry after a resupply.
@@getbusyliving5390 Thanks. Would enjoy seeing how it all fits together. The canister seems so large. I've been debating about getting one. Like you, I don't think I'd enjoy trying to hang my bag every night. ... Did you swap out any gear when you family visited you? TIA. Safe miles north!
The only thing I swapped out was my rain jacket. I’m now using antigravity rain jacket and it works great!
Jason, how do you like the bear canister? Heavy? Bulky?Hard to pack around?
A little heavy when full. You figure out how to fit it in your pack. Very nice at the end of the day. Just put it behind a log away from camp and you’re done.
@@getbusyliving5390 yeah, I agree. I’ve only done short backpacking trips and even for those it was a lot of work to bear bag. Also, we had rodents still go down the line and chew through the bags. Thanks for the update.
How long did you train and plan?
Been dreaming about this for many years. Planning for about the last year and a half. Trained as much as I possibly could by just getting out there and hiking.
Where’s your firearm?
Not permitted to carry through national parks. Plus there really is no need to carry on the trail, at least from my experience.
