Hi, great honest review. I am a big Olight fan and I have the black, the red, and the red Christmas one 😂 I really love the i5R and thought at first this is the replacement but now Im not sure. 4:00 OMG putting the cap back on is annoying and Im certain someone with dexterity issues would just toss it. I havent really carried these much, I did a full charge a few days ago and I have the lanyard attached to a keychain and the light sits in lockout mode in my pocket. Ive barely used it and its already yellow, so Im already thinking I dont want to take that cap off every week. I think its a good light otherwise but a bit disappointed that it is not noticeably more brighter than the i5R
Thanks, glad you liked it! The cap is pretty frustrating, thankfully I've only charged it a couple times since I got it. Mine hasn't had the same battery life issues as yours, but parasitic drain will always be some degree of problem when you can't physically lock the light out. I get why you'd want it to replace the i5R, but I think they're different niches. If you're looking for something brighter with a mode set similar to the Diffuse then I recommend the baton series, the magnetic charging makes it really convenient to keep them topped up too. They're a little thicker than the i5R, and a bit pricier, but both the Baton and Baton Pro would probably suit what you want pretty well. Or if you want non-Olight, then the Tool AA from Lumintop is a great light, just beware of the drain from the LED that comes on when it uses a 14500, I think that can be disabled though.
Completely agree, you might have success with an adhesive clip like the one niteize offers, but it might be too oversized for such a petite light. If they made the threads longer it would have not only not been so annoying, but they might have been able to add a screw down clip like they now use on the i3T 2.
What do you think of the Olight Diffuse?
was a pleasure chatting today , and thankyou very much ,this will be going around the world with me

We have been waiting for a successor to the S1A, and here it is.
A pocket clip could be nice.
