Those certain hoses are made differently so they require no filter!! The first hoses they made do require a filter. It will say on the package which is which. Thanks for the video!!

Awesome vlog, I've been using my Buddy heater on a single tank but never knew about two tanks. I also fill a squirt bottle with soapy water and spray the connections for bubbles. Also I really like your shirt, not many people will show our faith, glad you did. Great work.

Very nice video Sir. I don't go camping, but I purchased mine for the garage so that I can work on my motorcycle in the winter, or to place on a milk crate in front of my snow thrower bucket to melt the ice. Especially when you have sausage fingers like me.
I think if you get the 10' hoses by Mr Buddy those are good to use without the filter. I've got mine on 2 years now with no issues. I use the 5' hoses with the filters.
You are correct - Mr. Heater 10' hose Model #F273704 does not require a filter, as it's made from a different material than their other hoses, and does not exude a substance which can clog the burner.
Nice video, you don't need a filter with the quick disconnect and regulator because it's a low pressure, ½ lb, but the way your doing it you do need a filter unless you're running a OEM hose from Big Buddy as it won't leach oil like other hoses will due to the higher pressure.
No, the filter is needed when you are using a conversion hose to run the Buddy heater off of a 20 lb propane tank. The problem is with the hose, or rather some of them will bleed oil when under pressure and this oil clogs the heater up which will destroy it. Some of the newer hoses don’t bleed oil when under pressure but I always use a filter when using a conversion hose with my heater, it’s cheap insurance.
@@sixshooter4570 - Not really, a lot of what you said is just not true. You mentioned disconnecting a hose with a regulator on it when in fact a hose with a regulator won’t even work because the Buddy heaters all have regulators built in. Also it’s not a 1/2 pound bottle, it’s a 1 pound bottle and these disposable bottles are not “low pressure” as you said, they have the exact same pressure as a 20 or 30 pound propane tank has which IS high pressure. You don’t need a filter with many of the new propane conversion hoses as you stated because they don’t leach oil it either as the inner layer of the hose is lined on modern hoses just like the Mr. Heater hoses. Furthermore the 10 Ft Mr. Heater hose didn’t need a filter originally and it was the only hose they made that didn’t need it, all of the shorter hoses did but it depends on when you bought it as the new Mr. Heater hoses are lined as are all quality modern conversion hoses. It’s best to use the $12 filter to be on the safe side but the filter also adds two additional points of failure & propane leakage, all connections should be tested for leaks with soapy water if your tank is going to be close to the ignition source or inside a tent or building which is never should never be if at all possible.

With the Big Buddy, you can use up to 3 bulk tanks by using the quick connect too. It's always a good idea to use a filter, if for no other reason than dirt getting into the hose. There are only 2 situations where you might not need a filter, one is if you have a hose that doesn't leach under pressure, the other is if you're using a regulator at the bulk tank, since the hose won't be under pressure. I always turn mine off at the tank. That keep the pressure off the heater valve while not in use. Plus in case the heater valve fails it won't leak gas and cause a mishap.
I was told by a propane Distributor you should run A filter even if you have the proper hose That you do not need filters, I was told that the propane itself has impurities in it. And you're very much likely not to have any problems if you run a filter with it. It's just extra peace of mind.

keeping the tanks indoors is not a problem at all i have a few 100lb tanks indoor the danger is simple and very avoidable first off propane don't just blow up it like any other fuel source has to reach a magic blending number of air to fuel ration 3.8-8.4 i think may not be exact but is defiantly within the range of magic McBroom point being the benefit of storing a tank inside is that it wont freeze and lose performance and stop the process of phase change from liquid to gas is quite cold and if outside in freezing weather where its already cold below freezing is the performance (FLOW) will decrease drastically what the danger is when your smart and get your tanks like shown 20lb cylinders filled they are actually full (20lbs of propane 4.3 gallons I believe ) filling is best to be cold tank old also and then filled to hold the most is that when they warm up to room temp full the over pressure valve will pop and piss out propane wherever they are sitting the very simple way to prevent this is hook it up immediately and use to prevent over pressure from the expansion of propane based on temp not complicated at least I don't think so one but if unaware or wanting to be cautious a swapped 20lb grill style cylinder at the local store is only filled to 75% to leave room for expansion in summer heat and winter temps or up and down filled tanks have little to NO expansion buffer a swapped cylinder more expensive has a 25% buffer its a DOT REG and its not only more expensive you get 15lbs in a 20lb tank so if your not a fucking moron get them filled and immediately start using or store outside but if used immediately there is no problem even when a 100lb tank decided to pop off and vent in my house that's not the real danger its venting that makes the mix (MAGIC RATIO) and as that happens is the most dangerous ask me how I know a foom filled with propane above 8.5% or greater will lead to suffocation at best not from an explosion
Yes it will work but I suggest getting a 5 lb Flame King propane tank and use that with a conversion hose so it can run all night & day without having to swap new bottles. It holds as much propane as 5 green bottles and it only cost $5 to fill at my local Uhaul.
After watching this video and watching your video on how to refill the one pound bottles it begs the question, "Do you now have to use a filter with the one lb refills?"
I actually purchased the ac plug along with my Big Buddy heater (the green one with built in fan) at TSC. Oddly enough the plug was a sloppy fit and fell out easily.
Yes you can use soapy water, just make sure all fittings are snub. White tape is what came with the propane hose. Apparently there is white propane tape out there.
Having trouble with the pilot light on my big buddy heater right now. How often do you have to change those filters? This will be the third 20lbs tank I've run off this one filter.
My second big buddy heater it wont stay lit and i just used it for the first time this weekend . What am i doing wrong ? Only using the small one lb tanks?
Make sure to hold the button down for several seconds before clicking ot to pilot, let the pilot burn for about 5 seconds before turning to low, medium, or high. Try that and see if that helps
@@artpureblood3946 ouch, that's COLD! Try another 1lb propane bottle... If it doesn't work, definitely give Mr. Heater a call first thing tomorrow. I'm hoping it's just a bottle issue
disconnect propane hose, attach small green bottle of LP , confirm heater works, If it does then do the following, disconnect small green bottle, take end of hose that goes to heater, note small valve in center, (looks like a valve stem) turn gas on at tank, press valve with a pencil, gas and air along with lots of moister will come out. Re attach hose to heater. You're done. Light the heater. If you look you can find the video on hear that breaks it all down. That's what fixed mine it will fix yours's too
GREAT REVIEW AND DEMO!!!! Probably good idea to have a partially full or empty bottle on the non-used connection if you only have one side hooked up. That way if the empty valve leaks that protects the heater from catching fire.

filled tanks have little to NO expansion buffer a swapped cylinder more expensive has a 25% buffer its a DOT REG and its not only more expensive you get 15lbs in a 20lb tank so if your not a fucking moron get them filled and immediately start using or store outside but if used immediately there is no problem even when a 100lb tank decided to pop off and vent in my house that's not the real danger its venting that makes the mix (MAGIC RATIO) and as that happens is the most dangerous ask me how I know a foom filled with propane above 8.5% or greater will lead to suffocation at best not from an explosion
Will this work with a 15 lb tank using the same hoses? I'm asking because I'm a small female and 15lb tanks are easier for me to carry. Thank you!
@mstanley97 yes it will work with the 15lb tanks
It will work with any size tank.
Yes it will work but I suggest getting a 5 lb Flame King propane tank and use that with a conversion hose so it can run all night & day without having to swap new bottles. It holds as much propane as 5 green bottles and it only cost $5 to fill at my local Uhaul.
Great video bud very much appreciated! Nice Humvee btw how much you want for it?😂
Thanks, It was a Christmas gift from my wife....can't sell it...lol
After watching this video and watching your video on how to refill the one pound bottles it begs the question, "Do you now have to use a filter with the one lb refills?"
Ii dont
How come nobody ever mentioned this the AC plug in on the back of the Big Buddy heaters
I actually purchased the ac plug along with my Big Buddy heater (the green one with built in fan) at TSC. Oddly enough the plug was a sloppy fit and fell out easily.
If one take runs out will it run on the other tank automatically?
I think they run together so if you want to get the most use out of it I would only turn one side on at a time
Soapy water to check for leaks, no tape needed
Filters should come with the hose!!! My big buddy will run on high with out both burning !!!
Do you leave only one tank open to fire both big buddy burners ?
You can run or both at the same time, you can 1 side closed and the other side open
Do both tanks run at the same time? OR When the first tank runs out does the second tank begin automatically? ????
They should burn equally for longer run time
If you want to use 2 hoses the Mr. Heater hose P/N 273704 does not require a filter.
Purchase the newer 10' hose and you don't need the filter
i suppose air on the side of caution is the best idea for many
In my hunting blind I use a 100 lb LP bottle on my big buddy heater
Nice!
Can I use camper tanks on this also there bigger I think
Yes, just make sure you use a filter with it
I was always taught never to use teflon(white ) tape in propane. And always spray soapy water to test connections
Yes you can use soapy water, just make sure all fittings are snub. White tape is what came with the propane hose. Apparently there is white propane tape out there.
The tape is not for a seal but makes it easier for removal that’s all
Do both tanks empty at the same time or does it switch when one goes empty?
I believe each side is independent and isolated from the other. If one side runs dry it simply shuts off.
Having trouble with the pilot light on my big buddy heater right now. How often do you have to change those filters? This will be the third 20lbs tank I've run off this one filter.
I change mine each season, so each winter I put new ones on.
Why won’t mine stay lit?
My second big buddy heater it wont stay lit and i just used it for the first time this weekend . What am i doing wrong ? Only using the small one lb tanks?
Make sure to hold the button down for several seconds before clicking ot to pilot, let the pilot burn for about 5 seconds before turning to low, medium, or high.
Try that and see if that helps
@@ericpettway72 yeah i held it down for like 30 seconds ill try again but man it was 19 degrees i froze my ass off lol 😆 😅
That's what fixed mine it will fix yours's too
Nice hummer beat we get it stuck in mud
How long on high does it last
GREAT REVIEW AND DEMO!!!! Probably good idea to have a partially full or empty bottle on the non-used connection if you only have one side hooked up. That way if the empty valve leaks that protects the heater from catching fire.
I Got my 15 pound bottle Field with propane Got it home and nothing comes out, Could it be overfield,? Does anybody know what I could do To get the fuel to come out.
I have purchases 20# tanks from Cosco new and had them not work. They gave me another new tank. Sometimes they will just stop working. I'm not sure why though. Hopefully someone can chime in with a fix
The 20 LBS tanks are stackable. You're welcome. :)
