Been wearing a pair of Flux last 6 months and turned out to be the best workout shoes I have ever had. Comfortable, durable, and looks awesome! Love it!!
From a barefoot enthusiast...Excellent review, sir! Especially like how you showed so much of it's bending and build. I like how they did the insole because it will work well as barefoot or throw in your favorite insole and it becomes more comfortable for what you want to do like for me, walking on concrete all day I'll want more cushion, then take out for home. I already bought adapt runner on their way and will probably throw down for these. Right now have Vivo FG's, Earthrunner sandals, and casual Splay's. I love them all but I need a runner type for work. Going barefoot resolved my 6 months of PF in a couple weeks. Cheers!
Thank you so much for this thorough and thoughtful review going through all sorts of activities! Do you guys think it's a good vacation walking shoe? It looks casual and comfy which is so nice, but I often find that when on vacation I walk wayyy more in a day than usual. What has been your guys' experience? I'd love to hear your thoughts!
Hey! Thank you - IMO, these could be a good option for vacations/walking. They should deliver a nice level of comfort for ya! Also, not “you guys” - just little ole’ me making vids 😂
@@thatfitfriend haha thank you! I said "you guys" thinking that if you didn't answer, maybe someone in the comments section might? 😅 thank you for answering!
@@Calida Ahhh understood! I was just joshing you because commenters sometimes think there's more than one person that runs my channel...alas, it's just my unlikeable a$$ :p
Cool shoes, I like that they exist in both worlds. Do you use any tools for recovery? I've given up on diet and a six pack like yours, but I am still trying to load through physical therapy for my hip. The DOMS are real and stop me from training as hard as I'd like. I have massage guns, foam rollers and get to use the compression boots at PT. I'm going down a rabbit hole of red light therapy though, and just curious now what a beast like you use to recover.
Hey! Honestly, if DOMS is consistently bothering you, then I would instead look at your programming. Likely, you're doing a bit too much for what you're acclimated to, so manipulating session intensity/volume/frequency could be a good call. Other than that, staying hydrated, eating well, and getting adequate sleep are all my beacons of revoery. If those are not aligned, then the other stuff isn't going to move the needle nearly as well! I'd suggest (note, I don't have a ton of context here) exploring those lower hanging fruit variables, then going from there!
@@thatfitfriend "eating well, AND getting adequate sleep"?! ☠️ Physical therapist just told me I'm supposed to be eating within 20 minutes of exercises too, this is getting to be a lot more than I bargained for.
Hey! Would you suggest this is a good shoe to start if I’ve never worn barefoot shoes? I’m wanting to get into the “barefoot world” but not sure how to approach it. I see the benefits of getting into barefoot shoes but don’t want to go from one end of the spectrum and jump right into something my feet aren’t used to. I’m on my feet all day with work and I’m active. So just wanted to get your opinion. Thanks:)
Hey! They could be. I'd also suggest checking out the Altra Solstice XT 2. Those deliver a wider toe box to replicate a barefoot shoe and a 0mm heel-to-toe drop. Plus, they'll work a little better for training if you plan to use them for daily wear and training! Shout if you have additional questions!
very informative! Could you please tell me how grippy the soles are? If you want to do parkour and be jumping to rails or running up walls, do you see it gripping well, or just sliding off?
I’d pass on them for that context, IMO. While I don’t think the outsole would slip on walls/rails, I think the insole/internal part of the shoe could cause some slip. That softer blue interior slides a bit when jumping and putting force into these shoes. And thank you 💪
I’m curious how does the toebox compare to VIVObarefoot? Because coming into the barefoot game I wasn’t sure how I was gonna like the additional room or the minimal to no sole. After having them, I literally cannot go back into any other shoe I own without feeling absolutely restricted, so these definitely peaked my interest.
Flux Footwear Does Not Refund for returns! Once you buy they will keep your money and offer an exchange or store credit. Best to try out others first. They also do Not make 0.5 sizes so you may not get the best fit.
You said you got a size 10 - is that your typical size? Or are you a 10.5? I ask because I am typically a size 12, received the size 12 and my toe is right at the end with just a tad space. Am not sure if I should go up to 13.
I'm a 10 and get 10 for every review! That's a tough one...their upper isn't the most structured so if it's too tight you may have some spillover issues, which would make 13 a good call. Then again, I would test it out and see. If you don't have security issues, then 12 is likely fine!
Would you recommend these for....looking for a good all around travel shoe that can be worn around town site seeing(full day of walking), hotel gym workouts, "dressed up" for drinks out, etc?
They're okay! I'd also suggest looking into the STR/KE MVMNT Haze Trainer or Interval Knit. Those are both solid options that have a classier look as well!
6-10ish months depending on application. Upper can stretch if you're going hard in them and the insole can also get displaced if you're putting a ton of stress into them. For casual wear and training, they can last longer, though!
I tried wearing Xero Prios for basketball. I bruise my heel pretty hard when wearing them during basketball. Do you think thr Flux would be a good alternative?
I would pass on them, they’re not very durable for that style of work. Def acclimate to minimalist shoes when jumping and doing plyos! Ease in. Check out the Lems Primal 2, it’s minimalist but has a little more cushion
@@thatfitfriend I've been wearing strictly Xeros for the last 1 1/2 years. It's just they have no padding for heavy heal strikes (very much needed for my style of basketball). I had to switch back to my old Kobe's. Any recommendations for a basketball shoe specifically?
Hey man, I was wondering how wide these are? I’m been wearing altra solstice and vivos for 2 years. Like them but looking for a shoe that looks a little better to go out in. These look awesome, they just look narrower but are they still wider than traditional shoe?
They're a similar width to Converse. I was honestly pretty bummed out by this. Their width mixed with their lightweight upper leave your foot sliding around at times and I experience overhang at times when doing multi-directional stuff in these! These will be more narrow than what you're used to.
@@thatfitfriend it’s supposed to adapt to your foot size, per the website. I like to spread my toes and have a wide food, hence why I don’t wear converse any more. So does it actually stretch to fit but still feel snug or will it just squeeze my feet?
Do these allow the toes to spread out? I’m been trying to do some research on these shoes but not sure if they’ll allow my toes to spread out while wearing them. They look like there is some space but I’m not sure if it will be enough. Thanks!
Not really, tbh. They can be a little misleading with their marketing, IMO. Not a truly wide toe box and it's comparable with a tinnnnnny bit more width than a Converse - they just have more sole mobility.
@@thatfitfriend Overall, if anyone want good looking closer to the ground running shoe then just buy your regular Nike or Adidas shoe and cut off the thick midsole. If you think the shoe might fall off after cutting the midsole, buy used cheap ones then cut off the thick part of the midsole, not the whole midsole lol, then experiment it. I did it years ago and the shoe lasts just as same as running with the the thick midsoles.
