Here is my video on using Oranges as the first dissection "Animal" for my Animal Science classes. This lab eases my students into the idea of dissecting animals using something familiar. The orange eliminates the weird smells, staring eyes, and weird preserved tissue textures. The students learn to use dissection tools and follow proper dissection tooling without distractions. Using this lab in my classes had made the all the difference for my students allowing them to be more comfortable with the actual dissection process and tools. After using it, I wouldn't skip it. I hope that you use my idea and that it helps you be a more effective teacher.
