- Footage of Ennis and surrounding areas during the 1950s. Among the areas featured in the British Pathe footage are Turnpike, Abbey Street and The Old Ground Hotel.
My father was born and raised in Ennis. I always loved the accent from the West Coast of Ireland as it is soft and lilting. Although he moved to England for work spending the rest of his life in London, he viewed life from the perspective of his roots in Ireland and was a gentle soul.
Absolutely lovely to see all the old ways people lived lovely people im from limerick and i often pass through
Well made and how things have changed.
Thank you- subscribed💕
I thought this was long before the 1950s, so quaint, but probably very uncomfortable in those cottages, with old facilities. nice to look at but would of been a hard life
Absolutely wonderful.
Good Footage,
the Old Ground has not changed much. This looks more like the 40ies.
dinny cullinan's taxi, the old ground's doorman was denis o'gorman
I was in Ennis recently. So much has changed!
I bet if one could talk to them they would be some of the happiest people you could meet.
Such happy times when people trusted each other and all one culture
a hard life living in a thatched cottage with no running water or electricity.
Who’s the rich lady in the mink coat?
did old woman still wear shawls in the 50/early 60s?
Annette Murphy They did indeed.
