I've just started exploring photography for myself a little over a month ago, and I've been using RUclips a lot as a learning resource. I just wanted to say, in a world full of big, brash 10 minute "HEY WHAT'S UP GUYS" videos that should have been 3 minutes long, I'm so glad to have found your channel full of honest, quiet, considered videos and beautiful images. Thanks, Sean.
The thing which distinguishes you from other photography tutorial channels is that you talk so honestly about yourself, about photography and also about life. You understand us and talk as if you were having a 1:1 conversation with us.
Never get overwhelmed by thinking you should upload more often. Take your time and keep creating beautiful videos. I'm craving for them, but I wait for your meaningful creations patiently. Thank you, Sean, you are my hero.
I agree, quite a few of my subscription channels just churn out videos daily and the quality goes down hill. Sean's are brilliant and show how much thought and time he puts into them.

There are so many photographers on this platform that are in love with themselves, they put out content without thought or care, just looking for more followers and more ways to increase their numbers. Thanks to this video I took my first portraits using lights today. It was of my 96 years old grandfather. These will probably be how we will remember his latter life. Thanks for the inspiration.
This guy is something else, I swear. There's a profound level of emotion and thought that goes behind making these videos. They almost come off as enlightening.
Sean, this video is absolutely stunning. I lost my father when I was 3 as well, to a car accident. I still remember certain aspects of his apartment when he would have my brother and I certain days of the week. This affected my brother greatly who was 5 at the time and it still rules his life to this day. I have learned from my brothers mistakes and a few men in my life. A few years back we lost my stepdad as well who helped raise me for 9 years & it was at this time that I opened up to my uncle about how much I watched him growing up and what he means to me. These emotions are hard to explain when everything comes flooding back again. This video brought both pain and joy to my heart & tears to my eyes, and I want to say thank you for that.
And just by watching this you made me feel a lot better. Same anger, my dad died when I was younger, I even now have problems adjusting and answering authority. Yes, I always play the victim, but grieve humanity suddenly makes sense. Thank you for sharing this.
I stumbled upon your channel yesterday and I haven't stopped watching your videos since. Not only are you a talented creator but your words are truly thought-provoking. "Grieve humanity". I think I'm currently in same state you were back then, so those words in particular have touched me profoundly.
With each of your subjects you show three poses but IMHO it's the shots where they're looking straight into the camera lens that really brings out the person's personality. I picture them while they were talking with you and had their greatest impact.
If I had to delete all my youtube subscriptions but one, your channel would be the one channel remaining. Love your videos. They are a massive source of inspiration and I can very much relate to your situation of having to switch track after having devoted many years in a particular field. Thank you!

There's so much I love about this video. But what I think I like most is how it covers the whole gamut of relevant topics. Tools, technique, workflow, inspirations, vision... it's all there. Which is not something I can say about just about 99.9% of other photography videos. Excellent work (on both the video and the portrait project).
No matter what your job is there's always somebody there who is just starting out. The best teaching tip I ever got was; positive/negative /positive. In other words, praise and encourage - draw them in, constructive criticism - to correct an error, then encourage again - set some sort of goal. It's a buzz to mentor people who are looking for guidance and respond to it. All youtubers seem to be doing just that in their own way. This channel is one of the best. Keep it up Mr Tucker. You're good at it.
Each of those men that mentored you should be very proud of the man you have become. Even from the other side of the world your videos have given me a lot to think about to heal my own wounds and get me back on track and become a better role model for my sons, my stepson and even the young men that I work with everyday. The church can have some radical ideas about how we are supposed to live but only though the grace of God can we be truly 'accepted' and be an inspiration to others. You are an inspiration. You don’t shy away from heavy contrast yet you retain just enough shadow detail to still show dimension to the face and separation from the black background. Very nice.
Thank you Sean, I've been repeatedly watching this episode over and over. Something on it clicked on me and started thinking about all of the people that have been game changers in my life, without me even asking for help. All of them have had huge impact, but it wasn't until now that I'm almost 40 and my first child on the way that I'm going to do something about it. You have inspired me to reconnect with those mentors and start a project of my own. We are not getting any younger and experiencing how fragile life could be, I want to capture them before its no longer possible. Thank you again.

There were several mentors who stepped up to the plate over the years for me to fill the gap for me as well. I feel inspired to do something similar while I can. I am grateful to know that I am not alone in moving forward after ministry. I spent nearly a decade preparing for ministry, took my first call, and ended up leaving it last summer. There's been a lot to work through since that experience--a lot of pain, anger, and confusion. As a way of finding new direction, I bought my first dslr a month after leaving and am now building a photography career of my own. Thanks for teaching and thanks for sharing a bit of your story, which gives me hope.
I always feel intelligent after watching one of your videos. I had a challenging childhood-my father had polio so he couldn't do as much as he probably would have wanted. Had several men step up, a neighbor, youth group leader, track coach and minister that all guided me. Your video brought back these memories. Our experiences shapes us-some of us like you , make the best of life.

Most personal video I have ever seen as a photographer. Its hard being in front of camera and be the person who holds the camera and yet narrate the story - at such level of intimacy. Often we see people on RUclips who would talk Photography and gear and just that. Its refreshing, a bold move and absolutely respectable. On topic- I recommend paintings of Ivan Aivazovksy my personal favorite and his play of light and marine colors. The greens, the teals the aquas all so spot on. Great video! There were several mentors who stepped up to the plate over the years for me to fill the gap for me as well. I feel inspired to do something similar while I can. You might not have the quantity part of RUclips, but you most certainly have the Quality part down pat!!!

I am grateful to know that I am not alone in moving forward after ministry. I spent nearly a decade preparing for ministry, took my first call, and ended up leaving it last summer. There's been a lot to work through since that experience--a lot of pain, anger, and confusion. As a way of finding new direction, I bought my first dslr a month after leaving and am now building a photography career of my own. Thanks for teaching and thanks for sharing a bit of your story, which gives me hope.

I always feel intelligent after watching one of your videos. I had a challenging childhood-my father had polio so he couldn't do as much as he probably would have wanted. Had several men step up, a neighbor, youth group leader, track coach and minister that all guided me. Your video brought back these memories. Our experiences shapes us-some of us like you , make the best of life.

Most personal video I have ever seen as a photographer. Its hard being in front of camera and be the person who holds the camera and yet narrate the story - at such level of intimacy.
Often we see people on RUclips who would talk Photography and gear and just that. Its refreshing, a bold move and absolutely respectable.
On topic- I recommend paintings of Ivan Aivazovksy my personal favorite and his play of light and marine colors. The greens, the teals the aquas all so spot on.

Excellent! What a journey. I too lost my father when I was 10 from divorce. Never saw him again and I went through much of what you did but it took me a lot longer to deal with it. Thanks for sharing and leaving us with "grieve humanity".
