Classic George Michael who never forgot to thank the fans! These were the days of real music as look at that lineup of nominees... unbelievable.
Very few artists mention the fans/ punters. George was so gracious and kind. Most are like Andrew only care about themselves.

It is a pity there is no time machine, I was born in the 93s, and I envy those who went to concerts and caugh that wonderful era of Wham! and other cool bands! Now it’s hard to find such masterpieces and people like George. He was beautiful externally and internally, I love him, he is an ideal.

Wham! definitely deserved the award! George's singing and songwriting skills were unparalleled. Not to mention how cute he always looked! Great to see clips of George and Andrew in the Wham! days....so young and happy.

Well Wham! had released Make It Big in 84 which was a mad succes with legendary songs like Careless Whisper, Last Christmass and Everything She Wants (and other great ones like Freedom and Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go). Im not trying to say that Queen were not as great, it was just that Wham! had a season for the ages, that actually ended up defining their career and this is why they won, something that makes perfect sense to me. Sometimes when someone is in the zone, you just cant get them out of there. Well they broke up a little later so....

Ha Staus Quo "gave up" touring in 1985 😂 . Loved the Wham outfits, George went on to become a global star, someone iconic but here its really fun and nice to see him so young and almost bashful in getting that award
Wham were riding high on the Crest of the wave in '85 with a huge fan base.. so it's not surprising.

Wham beat out U2 and Queen :) They were all really good bands. It just goes to show that music was better in those days, imo. Nowadays if I see a nominees, I may only maybe like one out of them or none at all, and that the truly have talent.

Awards were at start of year, and Queen had a revival after their Live Aid performance in summer 1985. Queen won Outstanding Contribution Award at the Brits in 1990.

I was still in highschool, and not to take away Wham, but The Unforgettable Fire was the album I bought that year.
Does anyone know what an audience member shouted at them and who it was and why their faces suddenly seemed serious and sad? It looked like George's euphoric bubble was suddenly burst. Poor kid. I wonder if whatever was said was reported by journalists afterward.
