    Ni No Kuni II is sadly very under appreciated. Absolutely loved it.

      @jurjcluners8490 7 дней назад

      It wasnt much of an upgrade from the first tho. The whole war simulation was underdeveloped. The combat leaves much to be desired. And even the story is weak and tired with boring characters. I liked it enough but it is inferior to the first.

      Yeah, I loved Ni No Kuni II. The general tone, the combat, the nurturing of your kingdom, the overworld filled with little things to find, etc... Bracken Meadows is also one of the funniest JRPG names ever, right up there with Edge Maverick.

      @@jurjcluners8490 Nah, the first was AWFUL. The AI partners were imbeciles even on the easiest difficulty, and the monster taming was poorly executed across the board. From catching them, to raising them, to controlling them in combat (dear god this was awkward).

    There is this JRPG for the PSP called Senritsu no Stratos (or "Terror of the Stratos") that has a beat'em up section for the levels where you can swap characters (some are melee and others are ranged, use Russian girl with big cannon), and a 3/4 top down view mech fight against giant monsters for the bosses, Evangelion-style.
    Too bad the game was Japan-only with no known translation, since it is also a Visual Novel, thus having lots and lots of text.
    Recommend to emulate either way. You can brute force it without much issue, which is what I did when I played it for the first time before I got to JLPT level 3 (Japanese Language Proficiency Test, level 3, aka Noryoku Shiken N3).
    And speaking of Evangelion, there was this N64 game that was essentially a Boss Gauntlet where each Angel (boss) had different mechanics, the most recurrent being the "one-on-one mech fight" ala 3D fighting game. Really cool game.
    Not a JRPG, but another game with several decently made mechanics. Very hard too, for the same reason.
    PD: I see what you did there for the outro. That's an overworld theme for Black Rock Shooter for the PSP. That's another JRPG with two battle systems: 1) The very interesting semi-turn based with those dodges and camera angles, and 2) the bike level, which is almost like a rail-shooter. Wish there were more levels like that, or one with the plane. But we know what happened to Imageepoch. Which is almost a pity. Except for Time and Eternity.

    ill never understand why anyone would complain about drakengard 3's controls. i had zero issues with them and they felt quite natural and intuitive really. the fact that dodge cancels your current attack is also a major bonus, i cant stand when games force the attack to complete before allowing dodge. honestly, if it wasnt for the unnecessary sex jokes littered throughout the game, it would be a 10/10 easily

    I was intrigued by Super Ninja Boy enough to play it through to the end even if there were some balancing issues. Definitely preferred the beat 'em up segments.
    Gummi ship battles were never a huge part of kingdom Hearts, but I enjoyed the ones in 2.

    Naval battles in Ys 10 got me really surprised. Yes, they are pretty terrible (as, tbh, are many things in this game), but it's nice to see the devs are still trying new things and making something different instead of, you know, repeating a decades-old formula (like so many jrpgs do)

      @@jpsaint5856 Tales, Star Ocean, or post-SEVEN Ys are action JRPGs, as is FF7R. Kingdom Hearts, Nier, and FF16 are action games. The key here is an actual party that's fully playable, and fights in the same manner as you would, rather than just supporting you. I admit, though, that the line is rather thin.
