It's so sickening that even as Christians, we find things like this offensive. My mother is white, and my father is black. When I grew up, my white mother would tell me to brush my " nappy" hair. It was so long and naturally curly that if I didn't brush it, it would get matted. THANK YOU for loving like Jesus.

Oh my stars , people need to get a grip.. we used that all of our lives... if someone was offended they need a "heart check" thats the problem today everyone is offended over things that are silly, when they need to be concerned with bigger things going on today .. so frustrating...
May God Bless you in your work, time and dedication to this online Bible Study.

I’m sorry that you even felt like you had to apologize for that. Out of your heart you speak with kindness, love, humility and grace ALWAYS and it’s refreshing to have someone lead us through this Bible study who is real, transparent and just plain ole down to earth. You make us feel welcome and at home and you should feel free to be yourself as you share with us each day. I believe that we all know that you would never do or say anything intentionally hurt to hurt someone’s feelings or disrespect them in anyway. I personally admire and respect you and appreciate all you do and the time you give to share yourself with us through this Bible study. May God richly bless you as you continue in your endeavors.✝🕊🩷

Thank you for what you do 😊 as far as your “nappy” comment, it is only a word. If anyone listened to you for a half a minute knows your words are genuine, absent of malice or offense. However, some people, Christian or not, look for opportunities to become offended at every opportunity instead of hearing the intent and message of how a word was used.
I wouldn’t remove that from my vocabulary, I’d pray for people to stop trying to become victims and empower them to hear your message through attentive and Christian ears.

We as children of God should not be easily offended, nor give no offense. Forgiving
Each other in all and not judging each other. We are brothers and sisters and as children of the living God, we are also reflections of him and his son. We are patient as they are. Kanoe my sister, you are in good company and with brothers and sisters that aren't like other of the world that easily offended. We are slow to anger. You have done no wrong in my eyes.

Thank-you Kanoe, for having a heart that is quick to seek peace! I looked up the meaning behind the word Nappy. It does have origins of derogatory/negative meanings. It started being used as a racial slur in America during the 17th century. The Holy Spirit been working on my heart to be sensitive to others even when I do not understand their view point or emotions. I was thinking it was ridiculous when you first apologized but then I did research and I can see why it could be offensive still today.
I am a middle aged white women, I grew up in a house with a father who was a racist. I promised myself I would NEVER be like him. So Praise God for breaking generational curses and Thank the Lord for wisdom and a tender heart!

You are teaching about God hence you think that we are all comfortable with the words that you use. Personally I see nothing wrong with what you say and I am a black person. I appreciate your apology and transparency. It IS important to do so because you never know who is watching this. A new believer or someone seeking and they dont have the Lord yet. Though you didnt mean it offensively, it could easily be taken as offense and become a stumbling block to one of those. And woe to you if that happens. It's scriptural. As a teacher of the Word, it us very important, not just for other's salvation, but our own, to not be a stumbling block to those seeking.
All we can do is learn better, then do better. And pray for forgiveness. 😊

Let me start off by saying I love your bible study, I have never enjoyed a bible study more. On Dec 31st I was on the internet looking for a good bible study and asked God to lead me to just the right one, Heart Dive was it. Anyone who is watching you knows what a wonderful heart you have, please don't start apologizing for every little thing. We all use different words to describe things, anyone who has watched your videos surely knows that you would not purposely say or do anything to hurt someone else. I appreciate the fact that you care so much but this is one place I can go every morning and not have to worry that every little thing that is said upsets someone else. We all just need to KNOW and TRUST that you do not want to hurt anyone's feelings.

Kanoe did the right thing.❤ She apologized to those that she offended. When someone uses the word “nappy” to describe someone’s hair it is most definitely derogatory. The problem is that people have become desensitized to the usage of the word and use it loosely. I used to do the same thing, until my 9 year old daughter brought it to my attention one day & said to me “mommy don’t do that, stop calling my hair nappy”, And I thank God for bringing that to my attention to correct. Now, we call it what it is “thick & tightly curled”. Almost every comment on this video are people telling other people that they are“Too sensitive”, “Doing too much”, “Need to be more focused on the word of God”. How is that showing Goldly character to have a mindset that makes light of & disregards other people’s feelings???

Just wanted to say the same thing. Sis. Gibson did the right thing. I remember visiting a friend in M.D. her friend was a news anchor (meteorologist), and I called her a weather girl. I thought of what I said and immediately told my friend to let her know that I was sorry. We, as Christians, must learn not to be so rash with our words. And that my fellow Heart Dive bible studying folks is what Christ loves. Apology accepted.✌🏾

Hi sister Kanoe I grew up with that word. Nappy when it could’ve been derogatory, in America because of the history here. Let me just say that, but nowadays, it’s a crown of glory It’s a crown of prestige. I think people wear it more proudly now than not. it’s a distinctive honor. I guess what I’m saying is I heard it and it didn’t bother me, but I get it. God bless you, my sister. Please be encouraged ❤🙏🏾✝️

Appreciating correction is showing grace and receiving it with love is unmatched. I think people have to understand that how you feel about a word doesn’t make it the templates for everyone else. There are words that are used against people as derogatory meaning, completely disregarding the word or someone’s feelings for that word isn’t showing people Grace. The fact that she apologized, shows her heart. As a black woman, the word nappy headed isn’t a kind thing, and it’s actually been used by the opposite race to be offensive to MANY people or people of African descent. This is why she is apologizing, even though she refers to her own hair getting unruly and being called nappy headed she’s respecting that other people might have had a more disrespectful or harmful interaction where the word was used to cast them down. We have to remember that everyone experiences of life are different and what we shrug off others may really be hurt by it, this is why God calls us to show GRACE to one another. Grace can also mean having empathy and trying to understand where other people are coming from… Sorry for the long comment but I was shocked by the complete disregard of the word or others feelings towards the word. It’s OKAY to apologize and it’s also okay for people to have feelings or be triggered by a word, we are all at different places of healing and we will never be perfect to the point that we won’t be triggered by something or someone one day… ❤️✨

I didn't know nappy was a derogatory term either. I have friends of all colors and never heard it being a negative term. My daughter has afro type hair and she is Irish. I love her hair. It's tight curls, but can get out of hand if she didn't take care of it. Kind people have described it as nappy at times and we never took it negatively. People are just more sensitive these days. Seems like everything now is considered rude or disrespectful!

    • @karmatingz5797

God bless you. As you say 'Kind' people have described it as nappy. In a world full of racism, there are many unkind people who use it as a derogatory term and its not about being sensitive, its about asking someone to kindly correct their speak. If you continually say something negative to a person, they eventually become sensitive to that negative word(s). If you do not make someone aware of something how will they know? Kanoe thank you for your kindness and goodness to address the subject. I for one appreciate it. I see this group as a multicultural group and so we have to be considerate. In Jesus name I thank you.

@@y.spence Yes I know. I am a retired pastor and so I don't her to become discouraged and stop doing this wonderful Bible study. There is a book titled The Bait of Satan which is about the trap of becoming offended...quite the eye opener. Peace to you.

Hey! Atleast it taught some of us something! I seriously only thought it meant when you wake up and your hair is tangled! I've said it to my kids a few times in my life. I HAD NO IDEA. I won't anymore!

I agree, I always heard nappy used as a description on curly and tangled hair, having nothing to do with race. I was told I had nappy hair multiple times.
