  • There is a lot of hype around the Defender and the price has gone through the roof. But what if you wanted something a bit more classy, a bit less agriculture? It's worth considering one of these O.G 4wd in your fleet.
We took the 1993 Range Rover Classic, Vouge SE our to the Lost City trails in the iconic Blue Mountains in NSW Australia. It easily rolled through the landscape with class and sophistication one would expect from this British classic. We were also involved in a little recovery mission of a Suzuki Vitara.

I love my 1994 LWB with 297K on the original 4.2 and transmission. It's been my daily mule in the mountains for 10 years, all climates, all conditions, all elevations, all terrain, conquered with ease. Never stuck, never worried about getting stuck. Yes it will have mechanical issues, but I'm a mechanic, so I have had good "luck" with it.

It's design really is timeless (like the original Mini), and there is a market for the 3-door RR if someone was to start building them. The trouble is that they would be silly money. I was lucky enough to have a 3-door Vogue RR converted to automatic.

More capable off road than a defender, I've owned 3 RRC, well looked after they are decent. Remember, this was the flagship of the LR fleet hence more money was spent on development and more money was spent on quality of components than lower members of the LR family 👍

@@robertdrum6857 they don't have a shorter overhang than a Bobtail and they don't have a 3.9 V8. I've thrashed Defenders and RRCs around off road and a bobbed RRC eat defenders for breakfast, every morning ;-)

I know a guy breaking them, from USA, shipping the valuable interiors/burl/dash/ drivelines to breakers in Europe/England now making a fortune! All cheap parts classics are getting hoarded by wealthy Classic owners for parts now.... AAAAAARRRRGGGGG
