Awesome blend of the drums and the guitar. Hats off to the players and Mr. Giddes Chalamanda a living legend of Africa. I had the pleasure of meeting another legend of Africa the late Mr. Hugh Masakela in May 2013 at the Deltones Panyard in Trinidad with a group of my students who were pan players with the Deltones Steelband.
Waoo..great Job guys. I love the seriousness. These guys can do something great...These Talents should not be hidden like Chalamanda's...Lets promote them guys..
For sure i don't understand the lyrics of this song but i play it many times a day. Even when i woke up during the night. Africa oyeeeee! Malawi oyeee! Chalamanda Oyeeeee!
Who wrote and sang " Buffalo Soldier" first, and who took it from who? Giddes Chalamanda or Bob Marley? Was it authorized? It is clear that Bob Marley took many people's songs and speeches and made them his own. He used wording from the Bible as well. He redid songs from other Reggae and Jamaican artists also. So if Giddes is claiming that he sang the song first, he should be respected. It is surely true when you critically analyze both songs. Giddes, who lived in a country where there was no recording being done, could be right. The musicians in that country at the time, the 40's, 50's, 60's, and 70's just went to the radio stations and did their music and it was played on air and that was it. People should remember that Bob Marley lived in Africa for a while also, specifically Gabon, where he had a child with the president, Omar Bongo's daughter, Pascaline Bongo. So he wasn't just living in Central Africa with his ears closed. He did listen to African Music on the radio and picked up a word or two. How can you live in a place, get married there, and have a baby but never learn a song from that country? Never! Giddes is so correct, Bob Marley copied this song from him. Many people will recognize their property no matter how much it is over-painted. Props to you Giddes for giving the world a beautiful song - Buffalo Soldier.
